Hey guys,

I just got married and I figured I'd buy my wife a couple of Xbox games so I can get her hooked on video games.

Here's the catch: She only likes platformers.

Crash Bandicoot, Mario, Spyro the Dragon, you know the type.

So does Xbox have anything like that? The fun, easy, platforming gameplay?

Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter, Sly Cooper, they're apparently all Play Station.

What does Microsoft have to offer? Anyone?

Thanks Guys!

You really should have got the playstation if you wanted fun easy platformers.

Well, the xbox has all those Crash Bandicoot games. There not as good as the ones for the original playstaion but they'll do. Same goes for Spyro. Theres Prince of Persia its kind of hard though.

Off the top of my head I thought of N+, 'Splosion Man, and Braid. All of which you can get in the Marketplace. Although Braid is more of puzzle game than anything. But they're all sidescrollers and it sounds like your wife is more into 3D stuff.

Some other games that come to mind are Mirror's Edge and Prince of Persia. But to be honest, that's kind of reaching. I'm sad to tell you that platformers seem to be a dying breed of game. You would probably be better off with a Wii. Truthfully, it doesn't have that many either, but at least you could get Super Mario Galaxy. Which is not only the best 3D platformer I've ever played, but one of the best games I've ever played period.

Also, grats on getting married. :yay:

It's called google for a reason, why all these pointless threads when the information is easily obtainable on Google

Hey Guys,

Thanks. I guess I should have clarified, it's a 360, I got it a few years back, but now that I've got a Missus, I wanted her to enjoy the fun as well.
Thank you for the congratulations.
I did some reading and searching on Google before I posted here, but results were hard to find for Xbox360, so I thought maybe I was missing something, alas, this doesn't seem to be the case. Oh well.
I guess I could drop the 70 bucks and buy a PS2, there seems to be a plethora of games for it, but I'm loathe to do so if I don't have to.

Frankly both the Xboxes have been terribly lacking in platformers. Sure it has some Crash Bandicoot and Spyro games, but ever since Vivendi took active control of those franchises from Sony, they've been absolutely terrible.

If you want to get platformers then your best bet is the PlayStation 3 with the Ratchet and Clank, God of War, inFamous, plus other franchises like Jak and Daxter, Sly Cooper, etc. that might end up on the system.

Download Banjo Kazooie and Banjo Tooie off the X-Box Live Marketplace, two of the best platformers ever made.

I freaking LOVE Jak and Daxter, and I REALLY want some more Sly Cooper games. Sly is the man, second only to Mario in my book. I was given the 360 for christmas one year, and I play a lot of shooters, and it's not 600. So those are the three reasons.

When the PS3 hits an affordable price, I'll look into buying one.

And if you guys say Banjo and Kazooie is any good, I'll give it a try! Thanks.

Because Google means to search...dumbo
You asked for it. The phrase "it's called ----- for a reason" is only used when the noun's name is directly related to its function through phonetics or in some cases, syntax. Hence why your statement makes NO sense. Google's name has no inherent phonetic relation to the web or searching. In any shape or form.

Here's a few examples of the proper usage of the popularized phrase:

It's called "bookmarking" for a reason: marking books or pages for future reference
It's called a "hangover" for a reason: incident from a previous occassion carries/hangs over to the current
It's called a "policeman" for a reason: individual entrusted to police, govern, and uphold the laws

An easy technique to figure out if you're using the phrase right is if you can answer "why is it called ----?" simply through breaking down the questioned word by itself. Akin to when people define a word by using the word in its definition.

This has been a brief lesson in linguistics. This is your first recorded offense and a very common mistake used by layman's....so this one's free of charge. Thanks for reading.

The Banjo games are good, but they're very old-school in gameplay. I would try out the Prince of Persia series if you want a more modern feel. To be honest the 360 doesn't have much content in the form of platformers. That's more of Nintendo territory.

LMFAO, that was an obvious joke...but considering the time it took you to formulate that whole thing...
