What have whe been informed about the movie plot? Here, we'll put everything together and discuss how is the story. And before someone says it, I Know there was rewrites on the script, but let's stick to what we've been told, Okay?

What we have seen remains faithful to the comic book that first appeared in 1960. All seven original members of the Justice League — Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman, and the Martian Manhunter — are featured in an origins story about the superhero conglomerate. The plot revolves around villainous businessman Maxwell Lord and involves cyborgs called OMACs (One-Man Army Corps), who can take over humans and turn them into killing machines. There are epic battles between Superman and Batman, as well as Superman and Wonder Woman.

Superman - A.k.a. Clark Kent, new reporter. The morally upstanding Man of Steel battles Batman and has more to worry about than kryptonite.

Wonder Woman - A.k.a. Diana of Amazonian princess. Revered by the other supers for her beauty and ass-kicking abilities.

The Martian Manhunter - A.k.a. J’onn J’onzz, detective. His power to read minds comes in handy as the villain engages in some nifty mind control.

Green Lantern - A.k.a. John Stewart, architect. Designed the Hall of Justice. His emerald power ring shoots beams of energy.

Batman - A.k.a. Bruce Wayne. The most human in the bunch is mistrustful of others, which leads to quite a few problems for the clan.

Flash - A.k.a. Barry Allen, cop. The most enthusiastic superhero, Flash is happy just to be included, but his ravenous appetite leads to trouble.

Aquaman - A.k.a. Arthur, the Atlantean King. Not a fan of humans, Aquaman is more interested in helping his fellow heroes than lending a hand to land dwellers.

In late Sept, Patrick at U.G.O. first got word of some key plot points via an informed source.

I know that you want to know. Make the jump and I promise to share the goodies with you but be warned that there be spoilers ahead!

Here’s what I’ve been told about the JLA movie:

-- The characters of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash and Martian Manhunter comprise the League. One name that I did not hear mentioned was that of Aquaman. Where’d the fish guy go? Good question.

-- Story elements from the screenplay have been adapted directly from DC’s JLA comic book series.

-- The man wearing the Green Lantern ring in the JLA film is John Stewart and not Hal Jordan (Earth’s first Green Lantern) or Kyle Rayner (who followed after Stewart’s run in the comic book continuity.) It should be noted that in the Justice League cartoon series John Stewart is the same character serving as Earth’s Green Lantern.

-- The Flash is the youngest member of the JLA. He has a crush on Wonder Woman.

-- Wonder Woman is portrayed as the member that acts as defacto humanitarian and face for the League. Our source told us that the best way to describe how she is written in the script is to “think of Angelina Jolie and her relations with foreign countries.”

-- Unbeknownst to the League Batman has a piece of technology that he developed called the “Redeye”, a cool piece of hardware that he can use to spy unbeknownst on the other League members. Want to know what the secret identity of Superman is? Not a problem. Want to find out what can cripple or kill each League member, their Achilles heel? It’s a snap with the Redeye. Batman files away the knowledge in case the day might ever come when he will need to use it to take down a member of the JLA that goes rogue or becomes a villain.

-- The Redeye is a fulcrum to the events that transpire in the movie. A villain—and I’m not at liberty to say which specific one or ones—will gain control of the Redeye. Instead of serving as a means of protecting the planet’s populace from the threat of a superhuman out of control, this creation of Batman’s will come back to haunt him, threaten the lives of the League and the safety of everyone on the entire planet.

-- During the course of the movie the day that Batman feared would come happens: a member of the League will, and we directly quote our source here, “go bad.”

It should also be said at this point that there is at least one major twist in the story that I’m not going to blow because I deem it an Empire spoiler. For those out there that don’t get my reference, imagine it’s 1979, the internet exists and you’re reading rumors about the new Star Wars sequel called The Empire Strikes Back. There’s some new guy called Lando, there’s a big battle on a snow planet, Luke meets up with another Jedi and Darth Vader says something to Luke near the end of the picture. Sure, those are all spoilers but if I came out and said what Vader told Luke? That’s an “Empire”. What’s in the box that Brad Pitt holds in the final ten minutes of Seven is an Empire. Kevin Spacey’s change of footwork at the end of The Usual Suspects is another Empire. Got it? Good.

A few weeks later, Clint at Moviehole reportedly came into posession of some or all of the script. What he read was decidedly Superfriendish, and not at all good sounding. Sanchez at IESB and Patrick at U.G.O. both thought that Clint's script was a fake, and soon after, Clint removed it from his site (hence, no linky). A few days later, U.G.O.'s initial source quickly returned to debunk the script Moviehole received, calling it a fake. He/she then went on to describe to Patrick more of the "real" script details.

Our JLA source has returned. After listening to the rumors that there had been a leaked draft of the first 14 pages of the Justice League of America screenplay floating somewhere out there on the internet, our spy laughed and said that the real JLA script was nothing like that. In fact, our dude/ette on the inside told us precisely what happens in the first 14 pages of the authentic Justice League of America screenplay and wanted you to know what you can expect in the real deal.

Whereas the fake script opened on Green Lantern flying a jet fighter, the real Justice League of America script begins on a much grander and somber note: Superman walking on the rooftop of a cathedral. He is there as well as five other members of the Justice League (Aquaman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern and Martian Manhunter) because they are paying their respects at a funeral, grieving over the loss of someone that we don’t know as of yet. If you’re thinking that the deceased is Batman because he’s not in attendance, you’re wrong. The funeral is a public event and as such Batman doesn’t show up until after all of the cameras have gone away. For now, the rest of the League is under the media spotlight, each of them showing their respects for the deceased by wearing black. For example, instead of the his traditional red and blue costume Superman is wearing an alternative black-on-black costume. Maybe it will be like the black costume that Superman wore after returning from the dead in the comic books.

And then we cut back to six days earlier in Central City…

Detective Barry Allen and his wife, Iris, are eating lunch at a superhero themed restaurant. The pair are watching a television showing Wonder Woman addressing the United Nations. Barry makes a comment clearly showing an infatuation for Wonder Woman to which Iris promptly shoots him down.

And let’s stop it right there for a moment and examine what we just learned: The Flash in the Justice League movie is married. That throws a big monkey wrench into the recent news that younger actors were auditioning for the part of The Flash, doesn’t it? I can’t imagine seeing a 19-year-old Barry Allen married in a JLA movie, can you? Of course not.

But it all will make sense by the end of the film, trust me.

From here we cut to the introduction of the Brother Eye satellite, a sleek, state-of-the-art surveillance satellite in orbit and owned by Wayne Industries. Batman sits in the Batcave, watching Barry and Iris enjoy their lunch. We see him adjust the controls and the image shifts to architect John Stewart (a.k.a. Green Lantern) sitting in his office unaware that he is being spied on. Batman flicks the dial and the image shifts again to show us Wonder Woman in the U.N., then to Aquaman and finally to the Martian Manhunter under his human disguise as Central City Detective John Jones. Batman hears a noise behind him and closes down the interface just before Alfred appears to speak with him about Bruce Wayne’s upcoming business meeting with business tycoon Maxwell Lord.

There you go Bat-fans: Alfred is in the JLA movie—or at least he’s in the script right now.

As Batman and Alfred depart the Batcave they don’t see the computer switch itself back on or the override for the Brother Eye program accessed remotely. Whomever is using the device resumes spying on Detective Jones/Martian Manhunter.

Jones is working police cases at the station when someone drops off a package on his desk. Upon opening the parcel a fine white powder explodes in his face. Zooming in we see that the powder are actually zillions of some kind of molecular-sized robots, nanobots. They settle on the Detective’s skin and the result is that the Manhunter loses control of his ability to change his shape. As shocked coworkers gaze on him we see Jones change his shape into a beautiful woman wearing a bikini and then into a mountain gorilla followed by a small child, a python and then into a ball of fire before he finally is able to regain some control and morph into the humanoid green guise we know as Martian Manhunter. Distraught and fearing for the safety of the others J’onn J’onzz flies off at great speed heading for a location in Colorado. Barry Allen manages to get a glimpse of the Manhunter streaking through the sky and has to excuse himself from Iris as The Flash rushes off after J’onn.

And so ends page 14 of the script.

Of course I had a million questions to ask the source and I got the answers that I wanted. They were very candid about what happens to the JLA on page 44...and on page 73...and at the end of the script. The same huge spoiler/twist, the one I referred to as an “Empire”, is still in there and I won’t be the one that blows it. In fact there are a couple of surprises that haven’t been mentioned by me or anyone else yet which tells me that the people making the JLA movie want to surprise us. I say let them have that opportunity. Will you get to see plenty of superhero fights? Sure including battles between OMAC robots and League members. The ending is pretty eventful and what goes down has major ramifications on the lives of at least two Leaguers. I’m pretty sure that some of the fanbase of one particular JLA superhero is going to be angry over what happens at the conclusion of the story regarding a heavy decision that the superhero(ine) has to make that comes as a suggestion from one of the film’s villains. Yes, I did say villains, plural.

The closest superhero movie that we’ve seen to this JLA movie, as its laid out in the screenplay, is probably the first X-Men except there’s no room for introductions to the League heroes. We pick up the story right away and so the audience has to but who Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern and the rest of the team are. There are small character building moments that can serve as background information on some of the League’s lesser known heroes, like Martian Manhunter, but there no room to recount Superman’s origin or how the League formed. They are already assembled at the start of this film and have been working together for some time as evidenced by their presence in the world.

Thanks to our source for keeping us informed and giving us hope that this movie has the potential to be a major superhero movie event. If you want to know more, show us by getting involved in the talkback below. Maybe we can persuade our source to let loose with more info…

With all the rewrites that have taken place to date and probably continuing to take place up until the time of filming, who can say how much if any of what was descibed above will survive.

Though no longer on his website, I was able to find a description of that script Clint reportedly received. Yikes!

The script opens with some notes about using Motion Capture during the opening scenes of the film (they should, this feels worse than ‘70’s Super Friends cheesy), then into a combination of traditional shooting and CGI.

We start the film with an introduction to John Stewart AKA Green Lantern. He’s flying a super sonic jet. Oooh, he’s cool.

He soon receives a message that he’s needed urgently and puts the jet on auto-pilot to circle the planet a few times. He is surrounded by a bubble of green and lo and behold out pops Green Lantern.

His mission is to help the crew of a nuclear sub that has gone awry.

The commander describes a giant monster with many arms, Green Lantern’s only question, “Was he yellow?” I’m kidding, he didn’t ask that but there is a big monster with many arms described.

After evacuating the crew and failing to stop the nuclear leak with a green band, John wraps the whole sub in a green glow and drags it into space where is blows up.

He returns to the crew. Everything is A-OK!

We cut to the coastline and a lighthouse. A giant octopus or LEVIATHAN as the story calls it has come here through a wormhole in the sky and has decided the lighthouse looks like a good lunch, he decides to start crushing it.

Aquaman to the rescue!

But wait, there is more at stake then there seems, Aquaman’s father is in the lighthouse! Can you believe it! (Obviously we are seeing the Silver Age origin version of Aquaman here)

After Aquaman fails to stop the LEVIATHAN by himself, he goes back in the ocean for reinforcements, an army of whales.

But upon his return he is too late, the LEVIATHAN is gone and only a crushed lighthouse remains. Hmmm, eerie…

Intro for Wonder Woman.

Cut to two beautiful women duking it out. Sweat and big boobs writhing around what more could you ask for? Wonder Woman is sword fighting another Amazonian.

Suddenly a shadow overtakes them as they see a giant orb shooting blue (lasers?) beams in the sky. Luckily, Superman (coincidence) is there fighting this strange being.

Using an old sunk submarine as cover, Superman shields himself from the blue beams and together with Wonder Woman defeats the floating orb (where are the Ghost Hunters when you need them? I hear they are experts on floating orbs).

The orb hits the ground but quickly disappears.

Jump to Cleveland. Intro of The Flash.

I love the Flash, he’s a great character, cocky, funny and still gets the job done. He’s one of my favorite DC characters, second only to Booster Gold. Go ahead, laugh all you want, he’s the bomb.

Here we find Flash battling Trickster who is using Teddy Bear bombs.

Flash quickly takes down Trickster. As he’s giving his interviews to the news corp, something blurry passes by, it’s so fast even Flash can barely see it. Hmm, again, odd.

Cut to a lab, somewhere unknown.

Introduction of Maxwell Lord.

Using RED-EYE, Lord uses his technology to bring a group of superbeings to Earth. Not just any group of superbeings, it’s Ultraman, Superwoman, Owlman, Johnny Quick and Power Ring. Yes, it’s the introduction of the Crime Syndicate.

I have to stop here a sec. In the notes of the script it says these are the Crime Syndicate soon to be the OMAC squad. WTF?! On with the details…

They are mad as hell and they aren’t gonna take it anymore!
Lord informs them that there is good in this world to vanquish and there’s no time like the present.

Cut to the Hall of Justice IN SPACE! (You have to say that like “Pigs in Space” for that to be funny) Another note in the script says this will be based on the designs of the animated series not the comics. Well then why not just call it the Watchtower like in the series, that would make sense to me…

Batman and Wonder Woman are hard at work installing equipment (don’t they have people for that?)

A message from RED-EYE appears on Batman’s screen but he quickly changes it so no other eyes catch it.

Then Flash pops up on the monitor. He is ready to perform the equipment test.

Batman informs us here that everything is being funded by Wayne Industries.

As Flash is running around the world performing the equipment check, cut to Maxwell Lord as he continues to describe his evil plan, just as every good supervillain does.

End scene with devilish laughter, bwahaha, bwahaha….

Cut back to the Watchtower, I mean Hall of Justice IN SPACE!

Alarms are going off left and right. What could it be?

The matter transporter is transporting some matter into the space station. It’s J’ONN J’ONZZ, heavens to murgatroyd!

The heroes are confused, who is this strange green figure who has just invaded their space station? Superman attacks (yeah that’s smart) and misses, Wonder Woman follows and fails as well.

Batman approaches, J’ONN informs the group that their world is coming to an end and he’s got the info on how to stop it. Dun, dun, daaaa…

Start Justice League music here…Title sequence ensues.

yea the superfriends script rumors were the wrost thing going for the film. The whole death of one flash and flash back to a week earlier script was sounding real great and i would have loved to see that happen.

I think that script was sounding good too, but no where was it ever mentioned that the Flash would die. That was only speculation on our part.

I can't see them doing "Kid Flash - Flash's sidekick" in a live action movie. It's just so cheesy. Pick one Flash and stick with him. If someone has to be replaced, it should be GL, as explaining the multiple human GLs is much easier than explaining multiple Flashes.

And Barry Allen was not a detective. He was a forensic scientist, so either the script or whoever wrote that 14 page review is wrong. I don't see why they'd have him married so soon anyway.

Supposedly Zoe Kazan

was cast as Iris West, The Flash's college GF, eventual fiancee, and eventual wife (she was a reporter, fyi), and Kid Flash's aunt.

well there was many reports they were doing barry and wally and barry was to die and wally take over and that was who the death was in the death/flashback script.

speculation, my friend.

Wally was only mentioned once and as Kid Flash. Oh, and in an earlier script he was mentioned as being Flash, the script involved Darkseid, the White Martians, Max Lord, OMACs, and ended with WW killing MM and then sacraficing herself - but that was debunked, they said it was, in fact, fake.

Sidekicks are so out nowadays.

ummm what script had darkseid, white martians. i dont remember any of them saying those characters were to appear. Pretty much from the get go it was talia and max lord/omacs. only scripts i remember was the cheesy superfriends like one(which i believe was confirmed to be a fake) and the death/flashback script.

Written by Robert Sanchez Wednesday, 29 August 2007 Is it even remotely possible to have more Justice League rumors? I guess so.

We have been getting a ton of email from different sources. Some we decided not to post and the others we try to screen and get some confirmation of facts. The following email was sent in earlier today and while some stuff sounds a little crazy, mainly the casting of Bruce Willis as Lex Luthor and Mel Gibson as Maxwell Lord, one thing that he mentioned surprised the hell out of me.
The following was sent in by Action Boy!
hey, my friend recently got a pre-production job on JLA. personally hired by george miller (they've worked together in the past). you guys seem to be the go to site for JLA news, so heres what he's been bringing home:

-martian manhunter will be added to the league. he's a george miller favorite.

-previously, flash was set to be killed. after word leaked about that, they're changing who dies (See script summary for who).

-the heroes will be younger, and in the first couple years of their career. this not an origin film though. the league already exists. manhunter though, will be played older and wiser.

-WB is planning to cast very big for the heroes. names thrown around: jake gyllenhaal, leo dicaprio, jessica biel. mel gibson is liked for max lord. scarlett johanssen for talia. bruce willis was mentioned for lex. tom welling isnt happening.

-george miller already has a small group of men working on storyboards, script revisions, concept designs, costume designs, etc. WB wants this for 2009. miller isnt wasting time.

george miller has some script revisions already underway. heres the general summary of the whole story based on miller's personal treatment that i read, major major spoilers:

max lord and talia al ghul are the black king and black queen for checkmate, the government agency. they have a mutual agenda against caped heroes. talia's reasons for despising super heroes is ambiguous, but there are some vague references to her father and his ideals. max's reasons are far more defined: a couple years ago his fiancee was caught up in a battle between superman and metallo, she lost her life. he's since seen heroes as a plague that need to be exterminated. this is one of the reasons he creates the OMACs. he plans to use them to rid the world of super heroes, since the robots can be the perfect policing unit which can also be controlled by the government and work for their agenda. he is even going head to head against lex luthor for the contract, who has created similar technology. max also plans on using the OMACs for his own personal agenda...believing that checkmate should be running the government, a sort of coup would put him in power. the OMACs will also be using human hosts, the technology takes over the body. max lord plans on using heroes as host bodies to result in stronger OMACs (a superman omac being the big prize). theres even a few scenes planned for early on in the film where OMACs take over b-list DC characters, fun cameos for the fans. at one point in the film, even flash and GL will become OMACs.

There's more, but this was proven fake, so...

Damn, if that would have a HUGE budget.

ok thanks but that doesnt have anything talking about darksied/white martians being threats in miller's jla film. To bad from the get go they didnt get bigger name guys attached to this film cause the cast they had was not cutting it at all besides a few.

Right! Got carried away and forgot the whole point of that...

the JLA will consist of: superman, batman, wonder woman, flash (wally), green lantern (jon), aquaman, and martian manhunter. there will be a bunch of humor earlier on at their headquarters showing what heroes do when they are bored with no crime to fight. meanwhile, batman is off investigating heroes that have been picked off by OMAC's.

anyways, a group of shape-shifting white martians travel to earth and find max lord, well aware of his status in the government (it would appear white martians have a past with checkmate). they ask for refuge on earth to escape an aggressor who is at war with them. max denies them, knowing they will then invade earth and take refuge anyways (how he knows this and why he wants it will be later revealed). the white martians leave very angry and sure enough make plans to invade earth.

as the martians invade, the heroes come out, and so do max's OMACs. this is max's chance to prove to the government their worth and how much better they are than the super heroes. the fight against the white martian invasion will be the chunk of the film. during this time, the heroes become very aware of max lord, his story, and his agenda. they come into direct conflict, and more is revealed about him. about half way through the film, it will be revealed that max is a shape shifting white martian himself (not even the other martians knew this), but he was banished from the white martian community long ago which is when he traveled to earth. also, he's not only been disguised as max lord infiltrating the american government plotting a take over...but he's also been disguising himself as JLA member martian manhunter! working to infiltrate the heroes, learn their secrets, so he can eventually take them down using the OMACs. enraged at his betrayal, wonder woman snaps his neck, killing him! breaking the league's no killing policy. she stands behind her actions against a very pissed off batman and superman. still fighting the invasion, batman ends up being able to reprogram and take control of the OMACs and they use them to defeat the martian invasion.

but in the last 20-30 minutes of the film, a new threat will arrive. its the agressor that has been at war with the white martians. they have followed them to earth. its darkseid! darkseid and his army finds the white martians defeated and a new challenge in the JLA. the JLA goes to battle with him and his personal cronies, while his army attacks the country. in battle with darkseid himself, superman is killed! now regretting her actions, and recognizing superman's heroism, wonder woman begs her gods to take her life force and spare superman's. her gods comply. wonder woman dies, and superman is revived. he single handedly takes out darkseid. the heroes are overwhelmed by the rest of his army though. lex luthor appears on scene with his tech army (the one he was using to get the government contract against max lord). together they stop the invasion

Ok thanks for that. Now a omac/white martian/darkseid film would cost way to freakin much all in one film but if treated the right way could be very epic. Hopefully if jla does get off the ground again in 1-3 yrs(i hope this soon and not 5-15yrs wait) they take the characters seriously and give the film a grand and epic feel like a lotrs/harry potter/titantic/etc.......

Its ok I guess but, why didn't the White Martians just go to the J.L. and tell them the truth about Darkseid?
Togeather they could have defeated him easily. Afterwards, if needed, they could have settled their differences.

I was never not a believer i just didnt remember any articles about darkseid/white martians being a threat at all in any of the scripts. I just remembered talia and max lord/omacs were the main threats in any of the official/rumored scripts. And the only ones i remember info from was the superfriends(fake script) and the death/flashback script(which i thought was good).

You probably should find the writer of that fake synopsis and ask him.
