The Prequel Trilogy General Discussion and Appreciation Thread

I am so going to get flamed for this, but I think Jango Fett was a better character then Boba Fett ever was.

In terms of what is presented on screen and canon, yes he was. Boba Fett was more a living prop in the OT where as Jango actually came off as a character with his own personality and motivations in the PT. Even Boba was treated more as a character the PT compared to the OT.

Flamed? I wholeheartedly agree with you! :highfive: I adore Jango, i think he's awesome, badass and a much better character than Boba, who i find overrated as heck, specially in the OT. I never understood the hype with him, but oh well, to each their own.

Let's not tell Hunter we're calling Boba overrated :oldrazz::hehe:

I agree with all of this. Except Boba's (original) voice was way, way cooler.

Agreed. I still remember seeing him for the first time in the AOTC marketing material. My mind was racing with anticipation. His fight against Obi is still and always be one of my favorite scenes. It just sucks Jango had a BS death just like Boba.

^ One of my favorite aspects of AOTC is Jango, and detective Obi-Wan, and how it all came together. The asteriod chase is also so cool imo :woot:.

Hey, at least Jango was decapitated by a jedi master. Boba was hit in the back by a blind man and swallowed by the sarlaac lol.

AOTC is such a bad looking movie...

I know I'm in the minority, bur Count Dooku / Darth Tyranusis is my favorite PT villain.

Mine has to be Sidious. He's so manipulative, he managed to fool everyone and got his way. I love seeing him pull his strings. For me, he's definitely one of the highlights of the PT, alongside Obi-Wan, of course :cwink:

Just finished the Phantom Menace. Having myself a Star Wars marathon this month. Plan on watching The Clone Wars for the first time as well.

TPM is an alright movie, but some things really aren't that great. I felt the whole time they're on Tattoine, the movie kinda drags and it gets boring. It picks up though after that. Jar Jar is still pretty annoying. I think my favorite thing about TPM is the lightsaber duel at the end. One of my favorites.

Gonna catch Attack Of The Clones either tonight or tomorrow.

^ that's one of the things on my to do list before the year ends. Hopefully i can manage since i get a mini break at work cause of the holidays. I always try and squeeze in a SW and LOTR extended cut marathon this time of year :woot:

Started watching the film series today.

Episode I is worse than I imagined. Even ignoring Jar Jar – a character's speech I could not understand at times - the film's pace is dreadful. Exterior - talking - exterior shot - talking - exterior shot again - more talking. I felt like I was watching a day time soap opera. Any scene with Pernilla August talking were the most painful ones to watch.

The pod race still holds up nicely and so does the 3-way saber fight.

Count Dooku is one of the greatest prequel characters IMO, I don't even consider him a villain. A Sith Lord perhaps, but I saw him as a noble Jedi trying to save the Jedi Order and Republic. I think in time he would of turned on Sidious, maybeeeee...

The prequels have alot of characters I really like, but the reason I like them came from not the movies themselves but their stories in comics and novels.

Till today i can not belive how awful all three prequels are... it is a shame!
Can nobody make three new prequels an banish the others :)

I do too, I think alot of it is based on nostalgia seeing it at 8 years old with my late father. I'm not too kind on the two films that followed however!

I love TPM, I can live with AOTC's existence...and I love ROTS.

I too have decided to go through a Star Wars marathon during my Winter break. Went through Ep 1 & 2, and now I will start the Clone Wars cartoon.

Originally, I said that I liked 1 more than 2, but I take that back now. 2 still isn't anything great, but I like it more than 1.

Episode 1 - 6.0
Episode 2 - 6.5

I've already had my marathon. I don't mind the prequels, but it's nothing to get excited over. They have some great moments in them. I kind of wished that the Clone Wars Anakin Skywalker was in the movies. I think that would have made them MUCH better in that regard.

I also loved Season 6 of The Clone Wars since it answers some questions about Episode III.

It's refreshing to see TPM getting a little more love these days. It's still neck and neck between TPM and ROTS in terms of my favorite prequel, but I think I could see TPM overtaking it eventually. ROTS has a lot of the juicier material to work with and all the big payoffs, but as an overall package I'm starting to lean towards TPM possibly being the superior movie. I really love how the theme of symbiosis is weaved throughout the whole movie, and even how the climax with the more primitive civilization helping to win the day bookends the saga with ROTJ.

Episode III was better than I, while it has many problems, it gets less points for being a major pay off for things that weren't previously well handled.
