Yeah, and I will see The Black Dahlia next week after release date in US

The Prestige=The Best Movie'06

For me The Prestige will be a 2007 movie anyway.
The Children of Men looks like the best '06 movie...

Well, even if The Prestige is released in my country in Jan, for me it will be 2006 movie.

The dialogue is narration and under it, we see Michael Caine's character Cutter in a large workshop filled with caged yellow canaries, performing a magic trick for a little girl, who I assume is the young Scarlett Johansson character Olivia at around age 8.

So we will see young Olivia

Yeah, there are so much changes, but I am ok with them.

Well at least Nolan is honest about his movie and that the writer is pleased with the script :
http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=16328
Eventually, Disney and Warner Brothers agreed to back Nolan's project, an adaptation of Christopher Priest's novel by the same name. Luckily, Priest was pleased with the screenplay. "I think we got the blessing from him early on," Nolan shared, "but I think he [also] understood that we had to take liberties" in order to make his story translate to the big screen. The finished product is what Nolan calls a "loose adaptation" of a "tremendously exciting book" with a tremendously exciting cast.

Now if more writers would be like Priest and understand that liberties are taken when a book is being filmed.
*cough *cough* Alan Moore*

im actually far more interested in seeing this now to see what they DONT have from the book in the film. While reading it, i could see how some things couldn't work, but for the most part, i thought it would make a reasonably good film the way it was.

But hearing all these changes(including the present time portions), im interested in seeing how they handle the rivalry between Borden and Angier now. And the film opens on my birthday! Kick ass!

As fan of the book, I am not so glad that The Prestige won't be even 30% faithful adaptation. But still, I can't wait to see this movie.

Well you know as well as I that it'd be a terribly difficult book to translate to film directly, but I think if Nolan catches the core of the novel (bitter rivalry between Angier and Borden) we'll all be very satisfied. We already know Bale and Jackman will nail their respective parts

Yeah, it is very difficult book for adapting.

But why they will show 8 years old Olivia?

Dude, we need more pics or something from this film. It's almost only a month away and there isn't ANY promotion yet besides the trailer (which I personally have yet to see in theaters).

1 poster and 3 pics. Yeah, that's really doesn't feel like real marketing strategy.

At least, I think there should be released 1-2 tv-spots by the middle of Oct.

This is a link to the UK trailer http://pdl.warnerbros.com/wbol/uk/movies/prestigethe/the_prestige_tlrf1_qt_500.mov (downloadable) ,unfortunaly there is no new footage. It seems to be shorter than the US trailer .The US trailer is 2:34 and this is 1:34 as I timed it .

In the latino review interview I like the description of the first 10 minutes .It is like I imagined from the script review.I also saw "The Illusionist" and it is a beautiful film although I didn't like the way the ending was done I give it a B.When "the prestige" trailer played people in the theater seemed very positive about it so I don't think people will confuse them the stories are so different anyway. I hope we do see some more photos and tv spots for it.When I saw the Illusionist there was a huge 3 sided display in the lobby with Bale/Jackman/ and Johanssen on it and the tagline from the poster on it I walked around a couple times :word: so there is marketing out there .Touchstone pictures has the domestic rights and they are a Disney company and we know they know marketing ,for example POTC.

Is the book even in print here in the states? I couldn't find it anywhere when I was in three different bookstores this past weekend.

I saw the trailer to that Children of Men movie the other day....

It's supposed to be a realistic uprising (I think) 'science fiction' film. Set sometime (I think) in the possible future. So, the story is supposed to be- out there- since it is somewhat of a realistic science-fiction film.

I first saw the trailer when I went to see The Illusionist, and I am indeed planning on seeing The Prestige.

Yeah, there is one and it is very positive review.

You can find the link somewhere in this thread.

The Prestige will be good. I just know.

October is such a good month this year...we get new GR trailer (my 2nd most anticipated movie of 07), we get The Prestige, we get Saw III, Halloween, and I know I'm forgetting something...
