The Products' OFFICIAL Transformers Thread for us to ramble on and on about TFs

if they're chrome then you got the real deal. i don't see why someone would just switch the smokestacks and keep the 20th anny prime, when the MP Prime is more accurate and overall cooler.

But they're the same size as those on lars' Prime. I thought they're supposed to be longer??

Well, they are chrome so I guess I have the real deal.

Ok here is the deal. There are 5 versions of the Materpiece/20th ann Prime mold.
1.Takara MP-01 Convoy
2.Hasbro 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime
3.Takara MP-02 Ultra Magnus
4.Takara MP-04 Complete Convoy
5.Hasbro 20th Anniversary DVD Optimus Prime

Here is MP-01 and MP-02.

Now the differences are that the Takara Prime has a grey gun both times. Long stacks that Hasbro can't use cause of safety laws. MP-04 has a trailer (with no roller). See below.

Now Hasbro's first 20th Prime (that FTB got) has the same paint apps as Takara's, in general. It also has battle damage for some reason. Mine is the DVD 20th Prime with grey plastic instead of crome, and a blue gun. And few less/different paint apps.

I prefer the DVD version for lack of battle damage.

You know what I'd like to see? Transformers that are to the scale of GI Joe. Ya know, Hasbro mixed their TF and Star Wars lines, I think GI Joe is the next natural progression. I'm not overly familiar with the more well known GI Joe/Cobra vehicles, but hell, I'd love a TF Hummer that can fit a few joes in it.

That clears alot up. Thanks for the knowledge lars.

Man I want that convoy/trailer for my Prime.

All I want is a transformable HISS and I'm set babycakes.

Toynk has them, but as imports, they cost as much as the figure I think.

Ouch. That ain't too good for FTBs wallet. Plus with the MP Starscream coming I gotta chill out. Hopefully I get a good wad of cash once I throw some figs on ebay.

Yeah...I'm setting money aside for the MP Starscream and going to WM atleast once a day until i get him.

Well before you even consider running out and buying MP-04 for his trailer, consider. Just the figure will cost $250 minimum. You'd be much better off buying the supplemental trailers.

The official, but non transforming, version from Takara. (the online store I'm lining too is out of stock on both)

Or the unofficial Justitoys, full transformable with roller, version. Which is an upcaled G1 trailer, slightly remolded.

There was a Buy it Now on eBay earlier today for an MP Megs for only $150.

Oh, there was no way I'd be able to get the actual MP-04 so that'd be outta the question. I knew there were trailers made that were sold seperately, just never bothered looking into it because I never had a MP Prime until now. Thanks for the links. Whooo, $130 for the transformable trailer. Dizzamn.

Ah yes the Shockblast (Hasbro didn't have the name Shockwave at the time but I'm using it) repaint. Bascially he's a brown Energon Shockwave. He doesn't have 6 forms. Just 3 like Shockwave did. Atry cannon, satellite, and robot. I believe he also makes a laser sound.

TFarchive review of Sixshot.

Also Hasbro did do TF/Joe crossovers. 2 IIRC. The first is an alternate universe where Cobra discovered the ark and rebuilt all the TF's as cobra vehicles. Ironhide was a HISS tank for example. Megs was a Cobra heavy tank. There is one toy version. Megs as a Cobra tank from the 6" Titaniums range.

But from all accounts (don't have him personally) the thing is a POS that falls apart if you look at it hard.

That sounds cool. Was it in comic book/TPB form??

As for the Titaniums they sometimes use plastic parts to hold up the metal parts and its usually too weak to maintain it. I had problems with my cybertronian Optimus from the initial Titanium wave. He looked cool but wasn't built properly to hold him up because of using plastic parts for alotta the joints holding up heaver metal parts. Just didn't add up. Can't say much about other TFs though since it was the only Titanium fig I had, but I doubt the issues were ever dealt with.
