Perhaps. I will just have to watch the movie to see how things play out.
The trailer looks intriguing no doubt.
If the 3rd one turns out to feel more like a survival horror with a good story to it, I'll probably like the movie. One survivor horror film I want to see next is Cloverfield Lane. That looks like a pretty interesting type movie. If they made more survivor/horror TV shows that were good I'd be down to see even more of this genre.
Watch 10 cloverfield lane, it's great

PROS said:- Leo Barnes is basically channeling Leon Kennedy from Resident Evil 4 in this having to protect Senator Hillary Clinton from The Republican Party. He also carries this pretty cool arrow knife.
- The writers expand on the lore in the natural ante up of storytelling. I always enjoy getting more background on things.
- Leo's group is stronger and more likeable than the previous film.
-I thought the movie was going to go back to its roots with the first one having it limited to the house, but it leads to being out in the open in like the last film.
- I laughed atthe Miley Cyrus song being played. I got the joke that they did that on purpose because she is crazy to match the mindset of the candy thief.
- The use of the Christmas lights was interesting.
-getting offed by the store is the most satisfying kill of the franchise. The Ballerina gang
-The Stranger returns and finally has a name!!!
I loved the climaticfight! Fu**ing brutal!knife
CONS said:- Unless I missed it, they didn't explain how thesurvived in the opening sequence. I was expecting another scene that never came.Senator
- Its not as violent as Anarchy, but personally, I didn't mind. The comedy bits made up for it.
- The hanging tree creeped me out.
- They don't explain what happened toCarmelo. I'm assuming he was killed, but they could've at least said something about it. No mention of The Sandins either.
- Mykelti Williamson was Discount Mike Epps. They should've just gotten him for the role.
- The priest looked like a child molester. I'm sure that was intentional as well.
- I was expectingto die at the end, but I wasn't surprised it wasLeo.Joe, who lost the will to live after getting screwed by the insurance company. The store was everything to him.
Bittersweet ending as there seems that there will be no more Purges. Might as well quit while you're ahead I guess. They kill off The Stranger, who was the glue of these movies, (total gut punch for me) and they didn't play the siren at the end. I was pissed at the latter as I felt it robbed me of my Purge fan viewing experience.
Hated the first one (Ironically, I thought Ethan Hawke was great in it). Loved the sequel. And I think this one is the best one of the series although the wife thinks Anarchy is the peak of the trilogy.
I would argue that the "metaphor" is that this is something that totally needs to happen in real life.
Horror genre is killin' it this year, baby!
While a bit too much of a twist with the neighbors near the end, I actually liked the first Purge movie the best. Something about making bunkers, forts, or armoring the the houses up trying to keep crazy people out that just seemed more involving for me. It felt like the characters were more vulnerable and the sudden twist of the boyfriend trying to off the father was definitely shocking and the neighbors trying to be overly nice to once another for fear of rubbing someone the wrong way just slightly was intriguing. There was a true social underpinning behind everything amplified by a truly outrageous concept.
With that being said, I think the 2nd movie was ok. Frank Grillo was awesome in it and would've made a great Frank Castle. However, for the Purge franchise, I think the main thing the movie franchise needs to avoid is an unstoppable action hero as then the idea of a Purge becomes more of a backdrop to an action movie. The trailer for the 3rd makes me think this will probably be the case but the movie will still probably be worth checking out though.
