The Reagan Thread

I would agree...but only after Ronald Reagan. :oldrazz: Both are very overrated but only one has his political party 30 years crying itself to sleep at night by listening to Reagan recordings and eulogizing him as the president who had rainbows shoot from his butt. Reagan takes the taco in this regard.

Also, I'd rather they got rid of Andrew Jackson before they got rid of Alexander Hamilton on currency. I do agree that Grant is another one who should go. But I'd replace Jackson and Grant with FDR and Teddy or FDR and Jefferson, personally.

While Reagan is overrated to a degree (depending on your political ideology), there is no reason for the love that JFK gets. None at all.

Exactly...

After teaching Social Studies for almost 20 years, I have found that there is not a President out there that is not overrated to a certain degree, and yes it simply depends on what end of the ideological spectrum you find yourself on...as to how overrated you think they are...

Maybe they should just scrap the 50 dollar bill altogether and make a Schrute Buck...:awesome:

I am cool with Reagan getting the 50 dollar bill. He did have a huge imapact on our society as pres.

I'm looking forward to 30-40 years from now, when the current people 20 and under who idolize Obama will be campaigning for him to be on money.

They might as well start putting Federal Reserve Chairmen on the bill since they have more power than the President.

Obama will need to have a few successes and a second term before that. At this rate he could very easily be more Jimmy Carter than Ronald Reagan.

And yes the Fed should make their affairs public, I agree. But this whole conspiracy theory of the Fed being the equivalent of "the Man" seems a bit much.

Who said anything about The Man. They have tons of power, it's pretty much in the open. How they exercise is another matter.

That won't stop them. They'll just say he should be on currency for being the first black president.

And then you'll have those that say he isn't the first black President. I actually have a couple of black friends that argue that very thing.

Most African-American's probably have some mixed blood somewhere down the line.

Barack is black.

I go by what the US goes by and that is what your father is...if you are half Mexican, and your dad is Mexican, you are considered Mexican. Same goes for those that are mixed if your father is Black, then according to your ethnicity here in the US, you are as well. BUT, to some....he is mixed, and believe he should portray himself as that. I have no idea what that means....I'm just telling you what they have said.

Honestly, I think our money and the faces on them are fine the way they are. Besides we mostly use plastic cards now anyways.

Ron Reagan is an idiot....but it is quite possible that there were some signs in his last months in office...

Hell, I think I'm showing signs now....lol

RonALD Reagan was an idiot. His son is an intelligent, thoughtful, civilized man who I admire quite a bit.

Although Reagan looks like a Liberal compared to some of these Tea Party nuts. They don't have a realistic view of Reagan at all. If they only knew, or would admit to themselves, that Reagan probably, no scratch that, definitely could not win a Republican primary for President today.
