Unfinished Third Season
In a Q&A session with the members of He-Man.Org [1], Ian Richter of Mattel, who was behind many of the storylines of the cartoon, revealed some details on what had been planned for the show. Had the series continued, the second half of season 2 was planned to have featured King Hiss being regenerated after his capture by the Masters, and a final showdown between himself and Skeletor, of which Skeletor would have emerged the victor. Skeletor was then to have used his creation Faker to trick the Eternians into thinking He-Man had turned against them, thus enabling him to overthrow Randor and conquer the kingdom for himself. the third season would have involved the takeover of Eternia by the much hyped arrival of Hordak and the Evil Horde, who would have been released from their prison by Evil-Lyn and overthrown Skeletor, thus spreading mayhem across Eternia, effectively making He-Man and the Masters wanted fugitives.[2]

Apparently the intention was for Skeletor, who owed his very life to Hordak, to have finally gained the power to overcome his own mentor by the end of the season. At some point, Man-At-Arms was to have been captured and turned permanently into a Snake Man (how long this change would have lasted has never been confirmed), Teela would have learned of her heritage, and She-Ra would have been introduced at some point- according to Ian Richter 'when the time was right'.[3]

Really sad this show didn't last it was really good. But Mattel should have known better toy sales were going to suck if you just sell he-man figs and not any for the other characters. This and TMNT should be used to show people how to remake shows. If they remade thundercats I would like it to be handeled the same we as TMNT and he-man. Sadly transformers hasn't learned from them yet.

i read a thread that they are remaking thundercats, but that theyre going to exist in present time, and be a punk rock band. i dont know if this is true, but it is what i read.

It sucks that all these cartoons are based on toy sales and arent looked at for the ratings they get and the quality.

This was actually one of the better remakes that was brought around and it sucks that it got canned.

Yeah it does that and its CN fault. So how many good shows has CN canned on purpose. Lets see Heman,JLU,Teen titans,and megas XLR. And what shows do they like to keep the really crappy cheap ones.

You know, the whole "ratings were low" excuse is total bull***t b/c they paired it with the updated half/anime Transformers cartoon, and TF ran four f'ing years!!!

They could have kept it going but it's like the wikipedia article says, Mattel's too big of a dumbass to know how to manufacture a line of toys!

...for those of you who read the wikipedia article on the relaunch of He-Man, they made mention of a short-lived but highly sought after series of comics.

Well, I was on my lunch break looking for party favors at Warehouse Music (nothing!) and I thought to go by a local comicbook store (where I found a He-Man action figure; SCORE!)...

And low and behold, I accidentally thought about it and found a pile of these "sought after" comic books!!!

I didn't have time to browse through them but I'm definitely going back very soon to scope them out!

Its sought after didn't know that. I have the whole series all 3 minis plus the ongoing except for the last issue. Mostly because it was a crappy Orco story.

I would kill to have those comic books... I actually downloaded a few random scans of covers and promotional art, but that's about it.

So I did get that He-Man S1,Vol.1 box set for Christmas (not the newer version which doesn't exist yet).

After two or three weeks, I finally had the chance to sit down, relax, and zip through the first four episodes...

It was okay, but I was let down by the "tameness" of a cartoon that came out in 1983.

Instead of even being on par with say TF or GI Joe of the mid-80s, some of the He-Man plots/action felt more like Super Friends or Scooby-Doo.

He-Man wasn't exactly hacking things up with his sword as much as he was "lifting bad guys over his head, and throwing them straight upward to which they almost always landed in a puddle/pond of mud...??? Yeah.

And with a talking Crynger and mustaches on just about EVERYONE, it was a little sad.

Oh and about those comics Prognosticator. All of them are new stories except for one mini that was a retelling of the snakeman story.
