He isn't even really comparing it to RE2. He just mentions what made past games great and even if RE6 doesn't have those things, hopefully it at least replaces them with something else that's just as memorable. And I find it silly to accuse reviewers of having rose colored glasses or comparing the game to old RE titles, when RE4 and RE5 scored just fine.

Because the reviewer compares it to the original RE games and not RE 5, the predecessor and the game it improves on. If you hold an outdated game type as your standard, of course the new one won't match up

The demo seemed to feature to slow classic zombies in Leon's scenario. The gun users were in the others

Yeah, the smarter J'avo use guns like real people, but the C-Virus zombies in Leon's scenario use guns later as well, they just don't fire with intelligence. Imagine a zombie firing a gun listlessly and aimlessly with one limp hand.

I wouldn't be surprised if there are some Zombies, who are still holding onto a gun and use them. After all, they use axes and other stuff. If they are smart enough to try and hit you, I'd assume they are smart enough to just pull a trigger.

And you won't be surprised because you're right! lol

I don't see him anywhere holding the old games up as a standard. And neither do any of the other reviews that I've read. I'm not saying the game is utter **** until I've played it myself, but there must be an ounce of truth to it, if you've got wildly mixed reviews ranging from 3-9/10.

From what I've gathered, the problem isn't that it's not enough like the RE games of old, but that it tries to be an action game, but doesn't do it very well. Lack of identity, no focus, gameplay isn't refined, Michael Bay'ed to the point you get bored of the action.

When RE4&5 did so well, despite being huge departures from the old games, why would they start now to compare new games to them?

"Save me from Resident Evil 6."

We are off to a good start I see.

Man, those guys are *****ing about so many small things that occurred even in RE4 and RE5. Not to mention, they never played the series prior to RE4. After mastering the controls via the demo, all I heard was "wa wa wa." Plus he sucks at playing, maybe because he's talking at the same time? Don't fault the game for your suckiness.

I guess I'll see for myself when I finally get to play it, and hopefully this negative feedback will make Capcom think about their ways and make a proper freakin' Resident Evil next time. I cringed when he mentioned that all Capcom wanted to talk about with him was Battlefied and CoD. Crapcom, SMH.

All I've played is the demo. Leon's campaign appears to be a step up from RE5 to me. While it lacks the white knuckle intensity and thrill-ride addiction of RE4, it does feel like a horror game and has a menacing atmosphere (though I'm not convinced on the new aiming style).

However, I can't stand Chris and Jake's campaigns. I like seeing Sherry Birkin back and the idea of her and the son of Albert Wesker teaming up to stop their fathers' horrid legacies is a cool idea, Jake's game feels like it is going to be a poor man's Uncharted and Chris's campaign feels like it is going to be a poor man's Gears of War/COD. The cover system is awkward and unfriendly to the user (moreso than ever the much derided "tank controls") and when you're fighting enemies with guns who just happen to have passing similarities to the villagers in RE4, it's given up all pretense of being a horror game.

I plan to buy the game when I have time to play it in a month or two and will probably complete Jake and Chris's games just so I can play Ada's as her story looks like it will be the best and most interesting of the game (perhaps giving closure to that lingering RE2/RE4 plotline, the way RE5 put to bed the Chris/Jill/Wesker story), but I am dreading those two campaigns given the reviews. One positive review said RE is more Michael Bay than George Romero now. To me, that is not a good thing.

All that said, I think Leon and Ada's games make it worth a purchase. But not for a while.

does anyone know if RE6 has online coop for the story mode?

The Game Informer review is probably the most accurate review I've read. They point out the games flaws whilst admitting those flaws don't keep it from being an enjoyable game.

The most accurate to your opinion I'm guessing you mean?

It's all Jeff's fault. :cmad:

Relatedly, hearing Jeff slag about RE4 in particular the aiming... guy's hilarious but sometimes I just shake my head at some of the stuff he says.

I think while Jeff genuinely doesn't like Resident Evil 4, or Resident Evil in general really, he's mostly trolling when he says stuff about RE4 because he knows a lot of people really love it. Also, I have to wonder if Jeff's color blindness plays a factor in his dislike of RE4.

My stance is that if you don't like RE4 because of the story or because it's not "Resident Evil" enough, that's fair. But disliking it because of the gameplay seems absolutely ludicrous to me. It's one of those occasions where "you're playing it wrong" is probably a totally valid thing to throw at somebody.

so is this game good or bad? i was looking forward to picking it up but all these negative reviews have been coming out. I liked RE4 and 5 by the way

Judging by the reviews, it's a game you either love or hate. You have to play it yourself.

Would anyone have been interested had Capcom taken a different approach in how they sold this game? Since each campaign offers a different style and experience and can serve as its own game, Im thinking on the digitial front sell each of the 3 main characters scenarios for $20 each or if you wanted them all, then you get them for $50. If you really did not like Chris or Jake's segments in the demo, then you would have to pay for them for the final thing. Would people be receptive to something like that?

No, because from the sounds of it all three are needed to be a complete experience.

Where Jeff fail's or disappoints, I fall to Vic.
ROTR just did their review they liked it better then Jeff and it's theirs and Rogers game of the day. They did point out the flaw's, but it still made a good (not overly high) score in their out of 10 ratings. I'll put it up with in an hour and a half. Cause that's when it'll be up on their website in video. next to game informer it's a more positive and fair review.

in the mean time for those that haven't bought it yet here's a live stream from

October 2 – Reviews on the Run – Full Show

Victor and Scott begin our week-long celebration of the SEGA Dreamcast, buckle up for SpeedX 3D, take photos with the iPro Lens, enter The Jungle of The Lost Town, and the biohazard continues in Resident Evil 6.

Scott and Vic Battled the Biohazards in Resident Evil 6. Loads of content and varied gameplay. But it lacks focus and it looses it's stride.

They did mention that leon's campaign played like a tradional Res game(to an extent) and so did Ada won
g's and Jakes .

Ada's being the best of the 3

chris's though is more of the same from Res 5, done a little bit better. But still the same. Oh the recent 3d's game that stars Jill was mentioned by Vic at the end in the former video up top in comparison to 6.

Vic's score is a 7.5 /10 & Scott's score is a 7.5 /10

It still made the game that day. if you see the end of the full show in the wrapup segment.

X-Play on the other hand was harsh here's their review

They loved Jakes campaign the most but that didn't save it from being scored a 2.1/2 out of 5 by X-Play

Just got mine in the mail. I wish my headset for live that I ordered came, but that's alright. I'm just glad to be able to play it now that I am off work. :)

I'm tempted to pick this up...the leon demo that I played seemed like it had a more old school RE vibe to it. I hated RE5 though and the reviews so far are pretty bad...don't want to waste my money though..

Oh my God! The reviews :(

I thought this is going the best RE videogame ever! But can't wait to play it, next week when I got my copy!
