Does revelations play like a traditional resident evil game?

From what I read, it plays and feels more like RE4 than the others.

Do you want to know why a Vita version isn't in the works currently? Here's an answer from Capcom's product manager.

I guess it's about time. Resident Evil has become way too crazy for my liking.

RE should have been rebooted after 5. I thought that did a decent job of bringing things full circle and providing resolution. RE6 never should have happened IMO. The next game should have wiped out all continuity and started new

Couldnt agree more. IMO RE has just gotten too big. I much preferred it when we were just dealing with a lone mansion or just Raccoon City. Once the virus got out to the whole world, they lost me.

Also and it sounds great they are talking about reboot and what not, but didnt they say they were going to do the EXACT same thing prior to RE6 coming out. I thought the producer for RE5 was saying how the next game might take a lot longer to come out because they were possibly going back to the roots of the series. I guess what im tryin to say is, ill believe it when i see it.

It would be interesting if they really make it open world. Imagine walking through a dense forest at night. With Zombie lurking around, dogs chasing you, the focus back on survival and you only have a handful of bullets on you. Could be intense, if done right. Though I feel like it's inevitable that they return to action after a couple games.

I dont want an open world game either. Thats not the RE experience I want. They should really go back to basics and adapt the RE1-3 experience to current technology and advancements. They should keep the story small in scope and keep it relatively linear for a tighter story focus

This is the 1st time I've heard the word reboot and thought it was a great time for it. And I'm not being negative here. I haven't finished 5 but enjoyed what I played & despite all the negatives I've read, will probably still be able to enjoy 6. But a proper reboot with a simpler story would be really exciting now.

Agreed on this. Resident Evil fits better with a more linear structure & allows the story to be kept in focus.

I'd like to see the events of RE0 and RE combined into one game... I'd also like them to include a lot of the stuff they cut out from RE2 (RE1.5 or whatever it's project name was) and more or less remake that...

Then from 3 on do completely, 100% original stories that we've never seen before. As much as I like 3 I can honestly say that's when, for me, RE started to decline.

I'll make it easy on em, i just want to play the REmake and Zero on my ps3 or 360. They give me that, then they can do whatever the hell they want. REboot, sequel, FPS action game, idc.

They should have just taken the BSAA concept and shrunk it down and made it more like X-Files or something, with agents getting sent into isolated locales like in RE4 and going up against various biological terrors and such.

I'm all for a series reboot of sorts, the mythology and lore has clearly gotten away from them, but I think it would benefit moreso from doing that in a spiritual sense. I don't really feel like the events of RE1/2/3 etc. need retelling.

I can't really imagine a RE7 in this current continuity. I want a game that's like RE1, a brand new but similar type story & setting and a new mythology can grow from there.

I know they mentioned a reboot and all and alot of people want that.

but they also said this

Capcom: Resident Evil Revelations reception a 'signpost' for series future

Resident Evil: Revelations producer Masachika Kawata says Capcom will closely monitor the feedback surrounding this May's home console port of the game, and gauge reaction to determine exactly where to take the series in the future.

"I think we'll get a lot of input from the fanbase and the media on what it means for Resident Evil, and what it could mean for the future of the series," Kawata told Eurogamer. "We'll definitely be looking at that as a signpost for where we need to be going next." After Revelations, Kawata envisions Capcom focusing more on "the horror aspect and fear in the series."

Resident Evil: Revelations first launched on the 3DS in January 2012 and currently has an 82 on Metacritic. Though Resident Evil: Revelations is "definitely a success" in Capcom's eyes, Kawata says, the publisher would have liked to see more sales – but isn't that always the hope in business? "Given the large development costs we had on the 3DS version, we would have liked to have even a little more sales than we did in the end. But that doesn't mean we saw it as a failure by any means," he said.

Resident Evil: Revelations will launch on the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U and PC on May 21.

Would open world really be so bad? I'm not saying turn this into GTA with Zombies, but something the size of Arkham City could work great. You could still have a tight narrative, since the player would have to get to specific locations to continue the Main story, but it would be up to you how you get there.

Id rather something like that be a spinoff than an actual reboot of the main series

lol I really pick up the vibe that he really doesn't want to re update some of those first games in the series . well at least he finally gets that he can still do new stuff but not forget what works from the old older installments. Though as the article from before said the message has to be driven home from peoples wallets to make the point clear to him. Other wise he might revert back to the former and people won't be happy.

Yes. What contributes to the survival-horror aspect of RE is the sense that you can't go backwards, there's only one way out. An open world kills that.

Well..... Better late than never. /Ghostbusters II Dock Worker.
