Damnit Pat! You were one of those whiney DMC fanboys! You were there with me!

PS: I still hate the hell out of that game...Mostly due to the grossly overuse of the fbomb. Juvenile.

At least RE won't suffer as much from a reboot as DMC did. Seriously, how much more could you westernize RE? I already hated what they did with Chris in RE5, damn steroid monkey. He could actually look proper again when they reboot the series. And someone like Leon would probably get a haircut and that's it.

Also, RE games always introduced 1-2 new playable characters with each game. It's an always growing cast that adds new fan favorites. You could start the reboot with Chris and co. again, or start with an entirely new cast, and reintroduce the old cast in the sequels that follow.

Haha yea i hated it before i saw any videos on it. Once those came out i knew i had jumped the gun a tad bit early. Also, the f bomb isnt overused(deff no more than any other m rated title). You should try playing the game first, before making a grossly inaccurate statement.

That^
People watched videos out of context and assumed that the characters curse for the whole game. Play it then judge it, people.

Yea good point. Chris looked his best in the REmake IMO.

I did...A friend lent the copy to me. I'll stick with my HD collection.

Hah im calling BS on that man, remember we are Xbox Live buddies, i can see what games you have played...or haven't :hehe:

Plus, ur full on 'hate the DmC reboot', so you wouldnt play it if i paid you to. You ppl are afraid you'll like it, haha.

Yea i feel the same way. I love Chris, Jill, Leon etc, but if they want to reboot or give me new characters but keep what made the orig games so great, then i wont complain. In other words I wont act like one of those Devil May Cry fanboys. Im open to a different take.
The reboot will give us....[blackout]ALICE[/blackout]

You won't give their upcoming "Remember Me" a shot?

I'm actually not that interested in the game.

I think that's the only risk with the reboot. What does the casual audience love? The RE Movies. Who do the Movies feature heavily? Alice. What does Capcom love? Money.

Good lord... I fear for the reboot now.

:funny:

Is there no chance of making her a good character if placed in a game?

Nope. None. Have you seen the movies man?

I mean i guess if they just want to rename Jill and call her Alice for the reboot then fine. But i swear the minute she starts backflipping and using swords im throwing the game outta window.

The movies changing everyone's character greatly? Yep, I did

So I'd give them a chance to make Alice better in games, maybe a slim one considering Nathan's point

Chris can punch Wesker's heart while Shiva is grabbing him, this being part of a future game is not impossible

Well I finally started playing RE6 this week (I'm slow about getting around to games). I finished the Leon storyline and I thought it was pretty fun...but absurdly OTT by the end. And this is the "classic" section? I can only fathom how absurd and out-of-franchise Chris and Jake's stories will get. Still, I had fun with the Leon stuff. It's the weakest RE game yet from what I can tell, but I just enjoy Leon and Ada too much not to play this game and the zombie bits in Twin Oaks, for Leon anyways, was fantastic.

A few short thoughts.

I spent Jake's campaign yelling "What the ****" at my TV almost non-stop. Nothing made sense. Chris' was the same.

I do agree that Capcom need to really rethink their strategy with this series but the fan mentality is really starting to piss me off.

Why is there obsession with recreating the past? It seems like Capcom are stuck in this real damned if you do, damned if you don't situation...They try to cater to the fans and they're totally hampering any growth or closing the series off to newcomers who, 3 consoles after the series start, have no idea who Leon, Chris, Ada, Wesker, Jill etc are and nor they care.

On the other hand, it seems like if they were to try a different reboot and go with a different style like they did with DmC, they'd probably lose the hardcore fans, regardless of how good the remake is.

This series needs a massive revamp but it also needs the freedom to be allowed to change without feeling under fan pressure. Sure we all loved RE 1 and 2 but the series hasn't been like that for a while, I'd rather see them try something new if it means the chance for something fresh and GOOD than see them fail by trying to recapture lightning in a bottle.

I think people look back more to the past because, other than the amazing RE4, the original style holds up much better. The "tank controls" may be off putting to younger gamers, but the mood and atmosphere of those games is far more memorable and unique to the tone of RE5 and RE6 which are much more generic in today's gaming market. What makes them stand out are the zombies, transformations, and above mentioned characters. But in terms of gameplay, they kind of blend in, while RE 1-3 (and CV and RE0) are very unique and offered a style of gameplay rarely seen today.

There is no reason they cannot return to that style but with modern movement and aiming controls. By trying to appeal to the COD market, they are limiting themselves, IMO. Though I did actually enjoy RE5 and only 1/4 through RE6, have accepted it for what it is and do not regret getting it.

As for the old characters, I don't think gamers care too much. They can Wiki it. Besides, the same can be said about Master Chief these days or the AC gang. Never mind Zelda, Metal Gear Solid, or what have you. Like comics, games build up long continuities and for those who want to know, they can find out all the details.

Besides, unlike other franchises, this one does allow for new blood to be added. See? I made a funny.

Give me a REmake of RE2 with RE4 controls and that's a recipe for awesome.

I see no point returning to the tank controls. They are outdated. You can still achieve the same level of horror with today's gameplay. Like Matt said, a remake of RE2 with RE4's controls would be awesome. You just need to keep limiting the player again. No awesome melee or tons of weapons and ammo lying around.

Yep. I could go through most of Leon's last campaign by round house kicking every single zombie. I had tons of guns and ammo. Go back the RE1 type of arsenal. I remember limping my way through the first RE, with barely any ammo. Every time I'd find magnum ammo it went straight into the storage box because that **** is for bosses. I honestly don't if kids today would have the foresight to conserve that kind of ammo.
