Yeah they have interwining timelines which is why it for me and many others, it feld like Resident Evil 2.5

See, I always thought so too. To me, RE3 always felt like RE2.5, where as Code Veronica always felt like the true 3rd installment....

Thats because thats what it was gonna be. Resident Evil: Code Veronica, at first, was being billed as the true sequel to Resident Evil 2 where as 3 was going to be a side story. Sony got a limited exclusivity deal with 3 and when that happened they billed 3 as the true sequel and CV as a side story. Code Veronica is still, technically the direct sequel to Resident Evil 2.

Glad to see everyone here [for the most part] feels the same exact way I do for RE3N, with RECV being the true RE3. Seems like most of the time I encounter people who think RE3N had more relevance to the story than Code Veronica did :whatever:

I like both. Resident Evil 3 gets high marks from me, just because it showed the explosion of Raccoon City and featured Jill as it's playable character. You can't deny that Jill Valentine is awesome.

Code Veronica was great but it's also a story with some bizzare turns. Some which worked (Super Powered Wesker) and some didn't (Cross dressing Alfred Ashford.) I also thought the ''love story" between Claire and Steve was forced.

Gameplay wise they both had things I loved about them. Code Veronica more so though. I loved dual wielding, but I loved Resident Evil 3's gun powder mixing system as well.

It's hard to say which one of the two I prefer, but I don't think of either one of them as a spin-off, even though if I had to I'd say that 3 would be the spin-off as asides from Raccoon City blowing up, we aren't exposed to any major plot revealations about Umbrella or any of the characters in it.

I loved the cross dressing Alfred plot point but the love story was unconvincing.

I know RE:3 wasn't a complete sequel and Code V was but I think that it is often unfairly maligned. It was a good game to me, it had the series best villian and Jill and Carlos kicked ass. Plus the Dodge move was cool and it's the last main game set in a major american city. I love spooky mansions but the city parts are just too awesome.

Man Capcom needs to get around to remaking RE2 and 3 for that matter. It can be over the shoulder and have the new controls but I want it to be an actual survival horror game...unlike the new games, which I do still like.

I'm talking about RE4 because I've only played 5's demo.

An over the shoulder RE3? Man, talk about actually being scared and having the atmosphere mess with your head? Just the idea of Nemesis running towards you as you're aiming at him with the over the shoulder feature is chilling.

But I definitely love the idea. One thing RE needs to do is go back to the simple basics of the eerie, silent, and unpredictable atmosphere that had you guessing what was next and planning ideas in your head should something unexpected happen.

How about expand the RE universe into the paranormal as well? Remember the RE4 demo had Leon in a haunted mansion and it was ****ing creepy.

See, that's a game that would Have killed me of a heart attack. F that, I love it.

I prefer if Resident Evil sticks to viruses and such. I wouldn't really like any supernatural elements in the game.

for me RECV should have been Resident Evil 4, with RE4 being the true RE5

I remember that...I always wonder how they would tie it to the series...loved the killder dolls...

I agree One Billion Percent. I prefer the Umbrella Biological ****

So I finally played and finished RE5 together with a friend. Great game. Though it took us like an hour to defeat Wesker. Who in their right mind would think to get close to him?

Ditto...Umbrella made the series...but still would of liked to see where they went with the Haunted House/supernatural elements...didn't watch the whole vid...but does it also show Leon on the hovership/carrier thing? Weren't there a couple version of 4 IIRC?

see I think the supernatural stuff should be left to Devil May Cry

Im with you guys with keeping the supernatural out of Res Evil. The virus storyline is pretty well developed and should stick

yeah it is. It'll be interesting where they take RE6

RE is all about B.O.W.s. If they want to add new things like Ghost and other supernatural elements, they should come up with a new game series. Hopefully they also won't go too far with the virus plot and suddenly have people develop other superhuman gifts like Telekinesis. Worst thing in the Movies. I don't mind things like enhanced agility and strength, but Wesker's Flash act already bothered me.

yeah that's when RE5 lost me, it was like HOLY **** WESKER TURNED INTO NIGHTCRAWLER

If anybody wants Resident Evil with supernatural elements, go play Eternal Darkness. Great ****ing game, takes place in a mansion similar to RE1 but the antagonist are ghosts and demons...

I dont think Wesker was 'teleporting'. I think that was just their way of showing how fast Wesker was moving from Chris' perspective. I dont think this proves it but if you use Wesker in The Mercinaries, you can do this move that sends him running across the map in no time. Hes clearly not teleporting and hes easily the fastest thing moving.

It was a great effect and fun to watch, I just wish they woudn't have used it in the RE series. As if he wasn't overpowered enough. Now he has some of quick steps and moves too fast for the human eye to see.

Well, it's not really much of a problem anymore is it...considering he's y'know...

lmao me too and i was like wtf? Why did they turn Jill into Catwoman. roflmfao!!!!

Heh, all that hissing and whatnot, but she looked like Nina Williams to me, was not digging the blonde hair.

He leaves a smokey effect when he teleports. He is teleporting.
