The Dark Knight The Rise Of The Joker

the idea of the imax footage being the first 5 minutes makes sense enough. i've said before that several movies have some similar things. dawn of the dead played it's first 5 minutes on tv. running scared offered its entire opening scene on its website, and i'm sure there are other examples of this. my only question is whether or not there will be the actual joker reveal in the footage, or if it will cut just before we see his face. i hope we get to see what he looks like, but either way it should give everyone a good indication of how heath portrays the joker. ^_^ i can't wait. this is gonna be the sh-t. he said he would see us in december.

The logical side of me says I need to stay as far away as possible from this footage come December.

But the Bat-Fanboy in me says I need to camp out a week in advance in order to get a good seat.

A first guess I can do is that it'll be the whole setup of the bank robbery, how they get in and stuff) and when the moment with the bank manager comes, we'll hear "It's rude to stare" and then it'll end.

I don't know. We'll obviously see the Bat-logo after this footage, but people still won't recognize it as a Bat-movie. Unless we see the Joker.

Ah, I dont listen to my logical side for these matters anymore. I knew every single line from SW: Ep3 and it didn't prevent me from enjoying it. Same goes for Spidey3 (all the problems I had were of other nature), or FF2. We should be fine.

well sh-t, i am the kind of guy who wants to be as spoiled as possible. and i always think, that if this is part of the marketing, i trust that since they want me to see it, i should. and it's the joker. my favorite character of all time. and this could POSSIBLY be his greatest portrayal. i want to see as much of it as i can, as early as i can. so, i will call the imax nearest me to assure that it will have the footage, i will order tickets online, and i will be there at the first showing possible. early day showings usually have smaller crowds. i'll still arrive really early and i will watch and enjoy. and then i will sit through i am legend thinking about how awesome TDK is going to be =D

It'd be the same thing as the teaser, though. You don't know it a Bat-teaser (how corny does that sound?) until you see the signal.

i think they will show the joker. and yeah, you won't realize it's batman until the joker is revealed, and it will blow everyone's mind

**** that. I'll leave right after I see it.

Hey, I just realized something. There's no haters in this thread right now. We're all agreeing and discussing how awesome all this will be.

It's nice.

It'll look like a new heist movie. Right until you see Joker.

And damn, five minutes. That's a long ass time.

yes. it is. that only seems to happen late at night. but even then u get haters on occasion. but sh-t, i am really really excited right now. everytime i think about seeing this footage i just get PUMPED

yeah, that's an entire scene. it's probably a cold opener. like it all just starts and the scene ends with the bats flying forming the bat logo, and that's where the prologue would end. i could totally see that. this will be the greatest christmas ever

Yeah, the time is good. But what would that mean for the 7-minute preview clip "tradition"? Not that I really care.

And damn, in addition to Donk, GoogleMe, and Cyrus, we'll probably get Mr. Superhero saying "If it's not one hundred percent, Christian Bale and Chris Nolan came to my house, made me dinner and performed oral sex on me and THEN gave me the confirmed confirmation" speech.

yeah. batfans don't have faith anymore. too cynical, and this is coming from a guy who thinks aliens control religions and that american express check cards are a step towards eliminating paper money and installing microchips in your body. so i'm super cynical, but i'm willing to believe that people like this aren't lying =D

Wasn't the small bit of Begins attached to Smallville only five minutes?

I think it was more, and come to think of it, I believe it was a 9 minute clip which ended with the trailer that was out (like in X3, if you remember).
Edit: Can't find it on youtube, but I'm pretty sure it was longer than 5 mins and close to 10.

[*]“The whole thing is not ‘Joker Begins’, because we did not tell how the Joker became what he is”, says director Christopher Nolan. “During these five minutes it is shown how the joker of the small crook becomes the most-dreaded gangster of the city - it is more of a “The Rise of the Joker”[/URL]

Well they did say they were drawing heavily from Batman #1. EXCELLENT move Nolan.

HOLY SH**

Beautifully put!;)... I couldn't have said it better my self!

This sounds ****ing awesome! And if it's true about Batman's white lenses in the new mask, it's just genius! Batman had those scary white eyes in the animated series (sometimes, mostly in the dark). It's such a clever way for slipping that into the movie!

I have no doubt in my mind that The Dark Knight will be one badass movie! And more badass (in terms of intense action and a darker tone) than BB! Question remains if it'll have a more thrilling and exiting story, and I really do think that's a strong possibillity! The origin was told beautifully, but it was "just_an_origin_story". Now it's time to turn up the heat!:)

yes. i too think that TDK will surpass BB in every possible way, thus becoming the greatest batman movie of all time. and it has the joker =D

Things are looking good right now, sure, I'm allowing myself to be a bit more than cautiously optimistic now.

ive been beyond cautious optimism for a long time. it's been blind faith the entire way. the caliber of talent that surrounds the project, nolan's track record, and showing what he can do with batman and gotham in begins, and then adding the joker (and a version which i think looks really cool), i'm just blindly believing this will be the coolest movie of all time.
