The RPG Concept Thread

You know what would be cool about the 60's game? If it started with Kennedy's declaration about putting a man on the moon, and ended with Apollo 11's landing.

How great would it be to start on a note of such hope and promise, and end on a historical moment that showed everyone that anything is possible.

I know the 60's RPG was actually going to start in 63, a few months before JFK was shot and end the day he got killed. Then we'd skip ahead to 66, then 68,and finally have the last segment of the season be the end of 69.

Nah, start with the optimism of Kennedy's declaration...then crush all the characters halfway through with the assassination. :p

I don't see why we couldn't just have the first post be a GM post of that speech and from there we can jump to '63. That is assuming, of course, that we go with this RPG. I supported it the first time and I'll support it again.

I'm down for it....but the murder RPG has a slight edge for me. Although the 60's RPG is likely to gain more RPers

I'd be down for the 60s one, definitely.

I guess I'll throw out some ideas I've had.

First of all, it looks like OU will end after next season, so I was eventually going to propose a new OU where Marvel, DC, and Independent characters were allowed, but I'll deal with that when the time comes.

As for short term games, I have one based on the Harry Potter universe for the "Others" section. I know, it's not necessarily a comic, but it's a diverse and interesting universe and could draw some newbies.

Also, I wouldn't mind a one season Age of Apocalypse game.

Just to clarify, these new RPGs won't be set up for a while right? Cuz I think we should get our **** together in the existing RPGs before we tackle new ones

Yeah, I'm all for having ideas and buzzing about new projects, but it's no good if we rush off onto something new without fixing our current RPGs.

Yeah. Shouldn't put the car before the horse.

Yup. I'm just spitballin now. As you can tell from the 2 I put forth, I don't have a lot of detail, although I've got a good idea where I want to go with the Potter one.

I just wanna get them out in the ether.

But you're right, we've got other things to worry about before we get there.

So when are these one-shot RPG ideas going to start being put forwards?

So when are these one-shot RPG ideas going to start being put forwards?

January 1st. New year, new rules.

If Soze's Walking Dead RPG goes through, that'll be the prototype for the One Shots. Then in January, everyone can put forth their own proposals.

If Walking Dead goes through, is the other game going to be killed, or adapted?

Adapted. The created character option is still available, we'd just cut out the part with the characters from other mediums.

Well, Bill Murray isn't from another medium

He's Bill. ****ing. Murray!

He transcends. :awesome:
And he would have existed in the Walking Dead universe anyway :p

Okay, so I'm coming up with a concept now for a single-season-long game like the Multiverse game Cats just proposed. Except this will be the "Movieverse RPG" basically a reality where a big baddie has found away to merge universes and take them over, therefore spreading his evil(or something like that).

I'm not going to propose it yet because I don't want to steal the Multiverse's thunder, and my plan isn't solid yet. But I wanted to gauge interest in the game before I put a lot of work into this to build a world/story.

Go ahead an propose it, once it's more solid. The point of having the new voting method is to only start up games that have significant interest.

Okay. I'll start writing up the story tonight once I get my regular posting done, and I'll finish it tomorrow at the two airports I'll be spending time in.

I'd pay to see that. Seriously, though, it doesn't even have to be Fallout. I'd love a post-apocalyptic RPG - no superheroes, no zombies, just survivors in a barren wasteland. That said, I'd love for it to be based in the Fallout universe if people are into it.

I'd love to do that. I've always liked the Fallout universe....and it would actually be fun to play a game in the New Vegas setting without having it crash all the time :cmad:

:rimshot:

I think it could work really well, especially if it's just a short-term RPG. You can choose a race: human, ghoul, super mutant, robot. You can choose a faction: Brotherhood of Steel, New California Republic, Caesar's Legion, Enclave, etc..

I'm floating this out there 1. to gauge interest and 2. to see if anyone interested would be willing to take the reins. I don't know that I have it in me to GM a game - not by myself, anyway.
