thats the problem. you dont want this movie to fail but you dont want a bad movie.
newsflash. if everyone thinks like that then in 2 years we will again complain. if you watch the movie because you dont want it to fail then you support Rothamn.

Excuse me. Did I say something wrong here, Dark B McGee?

Either way, I'm paying tickets for another movie and sneaking into Wolverine anyway.

I put Hulk above all else comic book wise... and TIH was better for me. Banner, was deeper in Hulk '03. Hulk was better in Hulk '08, and had they not cut out out God knows how many scenes that are found on the DVD/Blu-ray, it could have been a better movie. Still, while Hulk '03 was deep, it was also a bore fest for me and many others. I understood it, I just didn't care.

I thought TIH was an awesome movie, on par with Iron Man. It just seemed to have the spirit of the comics and TV show moreso than the first one did (which I did like as well).

Certainly a different song than the one you were singing yesterday:

I meant when the run time is confirmed. There is always some contradictory report that comes out when something negative comes out like this. Right now I am taking Donner's word over anyone elses. I won't be paying for anything less than a 1:45 minute film. I don't find Hugh Jackman to be the magnet that drags me to the box office like you do... which is fine. But I am disappointed in him for not fighting for a longer film.

I'm definitely very concerned re: Donner's "well under 2 hours" running time comment. I was hoping for the best, but her comment seems to me indicate that Wolverine may turn out to be another X3. Why is it that Fox always cut the running time of their movies down drastically? Marvel should try to get the rights of X-Men back ASAP and give them the Iron Man treatment.

Fox is weird. It's been said again, it's a 'broken system' that worked for a while but since now that mainstream movies are slowly getting better in quality, Fox is stuck in the early 2000s.

Bingo! There's just a ton of story to tell and the scope is immense. I am not saying it can't be pulled off, but covering multiple time periods, Sabretooth fighting with him at least 2 times, Deadpool's fight, Gambit's fight scene, Weapon XI, all while trying to tell the story of him growing up, fighting in wars, losing his love, and joining weapon X and whatever story comes after.

PHEW, big number of things to cover for an hour and a half.

:csad: There's also Emma, Cyclops and Blob and more mutants. The movie will feel like X3. All rushed.

I liked TIH but I still think there was less substance to the character. I liked Ang's because it felt more like Jeyll and Hyde like I always envisioned Hulk. I definitely enjoyed the last 20 minutes of TIH over the last 20 of Ang's. Ang's had was very anti-climactic with Hulk's last fight. The casts for both movies, however, were fantastic.

Back to the topic, hopefully Fox will release a statement verifying or denying the Shuler statements. It sounded as if she gave no care to the movie whatso ever.

It really sounded like she didn't even realize the conversation was being recorded.

I thought she was the one scoping all the fan sites on the internet for reaction to the film. Did she not realize what the ramifications of that little bit of information might be? :whatever:

Apparently not. :o:csad:

I can't believe that's what she actually said. Way to hype up a movie. :whatever:

Ugh, this is totally disappointing. :down

I agree. It’s one thing to say the movie is under two hours, but it’s quite another to say the movie is way under two hours. Those were not the best choice of words on Donner’s part, and she couldn’t have sounded more uncomfortable in the interview. That is not the best way to sell a movie.

My Jaw hit the friken floor when she said that...and the way she said it made it seem like why would you want it to be 2hr or longer.

And then on top of that they cut out the storm scene!!! WTF!!!

If the movie is WELL under 2hrs that screams 1hr 35min to me, which leads me to the question...why cut anything out!

I mean, how can the storm cameo hurt the film at all...it would only help add to the film, and be one kick ass way to tie wolvie to xmen1!!!!

Im so frustrated...I hope she was drunk for the interview and was just confusing the run time with X3!!!

Haha. Sadly, I don't think that was the case.

I bet her Google alerts have been busy.

I hope they were. I'll bet she wishes she could take that interview back.

I think it's clear that her comment is a bad PR for the movie, at least to the rabid fanboys who monitor the movie closely. Fox has already failed us before with X3 (among others), and if Wolverine tanks then I really don't see why Marvel would continue to let Fox make their movies.

^I am doing the same:o I either won't see this movie opening weekend(when the studio gets the most profit share), will go see it at the first showing when the tickets are super cheap, wait for the dvd, only see it once, or buy a ticket to a different movie and sneak in. I am tired of Fox and I think we need to take a Last Stand for the X-Men:)

It'll be hard to buy tickets for a different movie on the midnight showing on Tuesday night. I might have to buy one. :o

I went to the midnight showing of X3. People dressed up, it was all fun, but when the credits rolled you could hear ahhhhhh's and everybody walked out and you could hear people saying how it sucked. I then went to Spider-Man 3's midnight showing and was let down again:( So...stopped going to midnight releases because I was tired of waiting in line for hours and then seeing a mediocre movie and having to be tired at work/school the next day.

I wonder if that is another factor for cutting down a movie...midnight releases. Theatres are more hesitant to have a 3 hour movie midnight showing as opposed to shorter movies because of how long they have to stay there and how tired the movie go-er might be the next day for repeat business.

I am also buying tickets to a WB movie and sneaking into Wolverine.

The news of the time slashing is not a surprise, and you know...someone has to say it...

I want this movie to suck. I want this movie to fail.

That was easier than I thought.

While most studios are realizing the potential of comic films and are striving to give us the quality that the source material deserves, Fox just keeps shoveling out crap.

I am hoping like crazy that Fox loses their butts on this film, on the heels of Watchmen making a mint. It'll probabaly be the reverse, since there is no justice on this earth, but I can dream.

I must be the only one who doesn't like midnight or night showings. I like matinee. The tickets are cheaper and usually it is not packed...which is what I prefer.

that's what got me so upset, the way she said it, it was like meh, whatever, I don't give a damn

It wouldn't have been so bad if she said "less than two hours" that "waaaaaaaaaay under two hours" was a terrible choice of words.

But I'm still going to the midnight showing :p

I'll see it after work, can't skip it for a midnight show.

Love seeing them opening night in NY, but that can go bad when the movie isn't good. The first Spiderman movie was a blast...the 3rd movie? Not so much. I saw an almost-empty afternoon show at the IMAX a week later, and liked it much better that time.

I've never had a bad crowd at any of the X-Men movies, even the 3rd one was fine with the crowd I saw it with.

While I don't really want Wolverine to fail, if it means an end to Fox's stranglehold on Marvel's X-Men property then I don't really mind. With only 2 decent Marvel movies under its belt (X-Men 1 & 2), Fox has had duds after duds afterward (Fantastic 4 1 & 2, Daredevil, Elektra, and X3). I don't want Fox continue to destroy Marvel movies with their insistance for extremely short running time length and their lack of care of the comic adaptation.

Did they not learn anything from X-3? You can't include that many characters and have a 90 min run time. What was the point of the reshoots then? Was the movie 60 min long before the reshoots?

This may help:

I don't know where this article's source came from, but it's promising, and downright contradicts that interview.

I could totally deal with 2 hours.
God, I really hope this true.

I don't get it, LFODH was around two hours & it did pretty good at the BO. Why can't they do this for their tentpole film? The film that Rothman's job is on the line.

If this movie is short, Rothman will be the definition of FAIL.
