Sci-Fi The Running Man Remake with Edgar Wright!

Edgar Wright kind of going back to his roots a bit by doing a funny, action heavy, heartfelt and personal story amidst a scathing satire of American capitalism, greed, the (unfortunately now relevant) terrible healthcare system, classism by the rich in the form of violent entertainment for their own personal amusement and for the masses, the country being run by a TV show host, fascism, etc.?

Sign me the f**k up!
This is gonna be great!

Saw some folks complaining about how gray this is, as if this story isn’t basically Children of Men once you leave the TV studio.

I read the original story years ago. This is definitely closer to that but still not directly the same. I do love the Arnie version for it's own thing though. Full of awful puns and over the top machismo.

I feel like I like the footage more than I like the trailer. I’m sure Edgar will deliver but I didn’t like the trailer too much.

So that Predator and Running Man don’t cannibalize each other as they’re more or less going for the same audience.

I keep forgetting this is coming out and then someone mentions it and I’m like “Oh! I can’t wait!” This movie is going to surprise a lot of people I think because it just looks like so much fun. I will always love the Arnold version for being one of those silly 80s movies that was always on TV but this looks legit great.

I didn't realize until now that they both had the same release date. Interesting coincidence that one is part of a franchise that originated with a 1987 Schwarzenegger movie and the other is a remake of a 1987 Schwarzenegger movie.

Book fans… do you think it’s worth reading this one before seeing the movie? I mean, that’s usually the best route to go but this also seems so action heavy that I wonder if you really need to read the book first (plus like most people I’ve seen the original movie even tough in aware of how much they changed from the source material).
