The Sarah Palin Thread: 'Controversial Controversy' Edition

I was thinking about how much Obama has changed physically in just 2 years.

So if Palin ever does run. A lot of horny dudes would probably wind up voting for her. So I think due to the stress. I don't think she would be re-elected. Cause she will look pretty jacked up by re-election time.

I also watch the show. Just because I am curious about the other side. The same reason I am going to read decision points. I think the worst thing you can do is just ignore the "enemy" & not learn what makes them tick.

Watching the show I honestly would be surprised if Palin ran for president. She really seems to be a family woman. Plus I think she realises she can do so much more away from the podium. Who knows though.

If she's as smart as her fans say she is, she would stick to her current plans now and not run. She saw how the media blasted her during the 2008 election. I doubt she would want to go through that again. She's making a ton of money through her books and TV show and she can say whatever the hell she wants on her Facebook page. She has a good life right now with none of the worries of trying to "fix" things.

There is no way.....I'll throw my TV out the bedroom window if I watch that episode.

If she "was" a smart politician....she would have run for the Senate, and she would have won......very stupid decision on her part.

Carter, Clinton, & Gore have all said they were able to get more done out of office than in. If Palin is smart she will just wield her power from the outside.

They may think so, but I don't....Clinton is doing great things out of office, but he did a lot in office as well, Carter was a complete cluster**** in office....it was easy to do more. As far as Gore.....yeah he did "Make Me Some Money Truth" documentary....he did a lot for himself.

I wish to interrupt this thread for a quick announcement:

I'M SICK AND TIRED OF THIS WOMAN DOMINATING THE NEWS. GET HER OFF MY TV! :wall:

Now back to your regularly scheduled thread.

Why are you railing in here? Call the media....they are the ones putting her on every moment.

I have. I've emailed Olbermann and sent a Twitter message to Ed Schultz. What happened? Schultz had a segment on her trip to Haiti tonight. :whatever:

Use the remote, that's what it's for

she is the main reason i stopped watching cable news and even tv news in general. I just couldnt stand all the coverage she was getting when there is so much more importantthingsto cover. She still manages to find her way into my online and mags sadly.

There is hope for people after all.

The problem is the Iowa caucus is a game changer. If Iowa had an election, Hillary Clinton would be president right now. You do not need a majority to win the Iowa caucus. You just need the loudest supporters for a couple hours. Palin has those. If she wins the Iowa caucus it could have the same effect it had on Obama and sink all of the better candidates' campaigns. The media will suddenly start to paint her as the heir apparent to the Republican nomination, and people like to back a winner so they will jump right onto that horse and ride it to the finish line.

Remember Obama? He was in third in just about every national poll (and most state polls) behind Hillary and Edwards prior to his winning the Iowa caucus. Hell, he was third in Iowa, prior to the caucus. If it were a democratic election, he likely would have finished third behind Hillary and Edwards and his campaign would have been over. But he won, and suddenly he was declared the front runner for the nomination by the media. All Palin has to do is win the Iowa caucus and suddenly she goes from a joke on SNL to having a 50 % chance at winning the White House. And like I said, you don't need a majority to win a caucus.

That is why, no matter how much distaste people have for him, they better hope like hell Mike Huckabee runs. They LOVE Huckabee in Iowa and he could end Palin's aspirations right there and then.

I saw a CNN poll yesterday that matched up Obama and Palin in 2012, with Obama taking 55% of the vote to Palin's 33%. I guess he isnt the most hated person in America after all. Either that or Sarah Palin isnt the golden child that her supporters make her out to be.

Yes its a hypothetical poll and is meaningless but it did give me hope for humanity.

The problem with that poll is, if it becomes Obama/Palin, you have to throw Bloomberg into the mix as he will run against those two. It'll be a three way race. My guess is, that in such a scenario, none of the candidates reach 270 and the House appoints Palin.

Please dont say that. I need to sleep at night.

Its not that far off. If Bloomberg runs against Obama without the job market showing significant improvement in the next two years, you likely will see a three way split in the popular vote. Remember, in 1992, a self-financed Ross Perot was beating both Clinton and Bush in the popular vote. Had he not dropped out in the summer and re-entered in November, odds are he would have won the popular vote and quite a few states.

Third parties are usually nonviable because they lack money to compete. Michael Bloomberg is capable of running a campaign bigger than both Obama and Palin without putting even a dent in his wallet. Combine that with distrust of the major parties and his popularity with people in both parties and independants and it is very easy to see a scenario where Bloomberg wins the popular vote (or is at least a close second). If there is a split in the popular vote between three candidates along the lines of 33%/33%/33% or even 40%/35%/25%, then someone capturing the 270 becomes VERY unlikely. Especially when you consider that Palin will take Texas and Bloomberg will take New York and very possibly Pennsylvania. Meanwhile, Barry O. will take California. It is very hard to see any one candidate reaching 270 with these states split between three contenders.
