The Amazing Spider-Man 2 The Scene Gwen Stacey Died

I think most of the people aware of Gwen's death in the comics will be absolutely convinced of her death in the film now. Either the marketing of this film is brilliant or absolutely terrible (why advertise a potentially major death?). I wonder what's going through Marc Webb's head right now.

Maybe Webb is confident in his film making ability. I've never heard people complain about knowing Romeo and Juliet were going to die.

It's all my fault I guess...

If I hadn't worked so hard to prove that she will die in TASM2 Webb wouldn't have changed the movie...

Oh, Come On!!!!!

It's no secret that Gwen dies, so trying to say that Webb didn't hide it is stupid! It's a very well known fact that that is what Gwen does... she dies!

So it's really all about how and when.

The moment we saw her in her death shroud we should have known. The "trick", if you want to call it that is Webb filming at a bridge with Gwen in her death costume. That's the "trick". That's the fake out because we all expected it to happen on the bridge. Webb probably had this idea that the movie would get to the bridge and every fanboy would be like "here it comes" and then it doesn't. Bwa ha ha ha!!!! Webb would feel like a mad genius, but then, of course, he would kill her later iconically.

Well those pics at the clock tower are just too pretty not to use in the trailer. Now he didn't show Gwen at the tower, just Spidey and Goblin (still looks like Andrew to me) fighting there. Yes, there was that one cool shot I found, with the moon behind, but who would figure out that that is the fateful moment when Gwen will die. No one so there would be no worries for them to put that in the trailer.

Well, at this point I would actually be disappointed if she doesn't die. Not because I want to see Gwen gone, but because I very much want to see Peter dealing with it!!!!!

While I agree that there is a good chance of her dying, I don't think its fair to call it a "well known fact" that it happens. We shouldn't call any speculation a fact because we would feel stupid if we saw the movie and something else happened. I am on the fence still, but much closer to the side in which Gwen meets her demise. But calling your belief based on "evidence" fact is not a good idea. Unless you know someone from the production or have insider information, nothing is fact.

^ Agreed

Lol. That's true about Romeo and Juliet, but based on the statement he made about the online theories and some of the stuff he said at comic con, I think he would have wanted the details to be kept a secret so there would be some suspense/shock even for the fans. We all know that she is going to die at some point, but I don't think he would have wanted the details of her death to be leaked or advertised like that (assuming it is in fact true).

Well if they are spoiling so much her fate she have a slim chance of survive like Webb said "You think you know whats going to happen and then you dont"

But that quote can also be applied to theories about her dying. We really think that she is going to die, but then what if she doesn't?

That quote can apply either way and cancel both out but we wont know until we see it

By "Well known fact" I meant in the comics. It's a well known fact that Gwen died in the comics, which would mean it's highly likely that she will die in the movies...

How about this... Everyone list just the percentage of what they believe the chances are Gwen will die in The Amazing Spiderman 2.

For me its:

95%

Yes, exactly.

OHHH, that's what you meant.

For me its:

95%

The chances of her dying in TASM2: 60-65%
The chances of her dying in this series: 90%

Very few people in the general audience know about the Death of Gwen Stacy story. So they're either going for shocking that majority of the audience or by fooling the minority (us) with a twist. The former sounds more beneficial. Regardless, if she dies (and for the record I'm at least 90% sure she will), almost everyone will feel the impact.

Even if you know its coming, it could still make an impact. Its one thing to hear it, its another to actually see it.

I agree. I knew how everything played out in LOTR before the movies were ever released, and I'll always come down with a case of the feels when watching those.

I expected to take it lightly since I knew about her death. But I read it, and teared up.
I still saw it but read it as if it first came out and I was like "Spidey get her out of there!" Also anther thing that didn't hellp was people forgot that Spidey was sick after his fight with the Hulk and I think he had the flu because of how dizzy he was getting and probably couldn't think straight

I still think that some stuff in the trailer, that pic of "Gwen in peril" at the clock tower, the Goblin promotional materials, and the magazine article with "woes and death" is a bit...excessive and I'm sure it's not what Webb would have wanted (if Gwen does die in the film), but we know that he's not in charge of marketing the film. Either way, I'm not doubting that her death will have an impact, whenever it happens.

I'm at 50/50. I'm not committing either way. I still have my doubts on both ends, and the whole timeline thing still confuses me as much as it's been rationalized.

We all knew Luca Brasi was going to sleep with the fishes, but his death in the Godfather still shocks me every time.

I can't wait til after the movie releases and come back and re-read thru this thread.

20% and im certain that she will make it..

Three words: Iron Man 3
Everybody thought the main villain would be The Mandarain. There was Ben Kingsley announced as the character, there were promo picture of him with his costume.
EVERYBODY (don't say you didn't!) was 100% sure he was going to be the villain. Plus, The Mandarin is Iron Man's arch enemy so it made perfect sense.

NOBODY (don't say you did! Liar!) saw that twist coming. Nobody expected that! But the trailer and everything pointed it out.
It didn't happen this way.

All I'm saying is that trailers can fool you. When you think you finally figured it out, it sometimes turns out you didn't at all. You were wrong all along.
So everything points at Gwen's death because it's an iconic moment and all the costumes and pictures says so... But I think things will be very different.

I agree with Andrew's quote from Webb. You think you finally find out the answer and then... boom, something completly different.

Either this is the worst marketing campaign in history... Or we will see something totally unexpected.

My probabilities:

What I want: 0% of chances she dies.
The truth: 75% of chances she dies.
