Inhumans The Serinda Swan is Medusa Thread

Well that's part of why I'd like Charlize Theron for Medusa. She has the queen thing down already and would give that regal air of authority needed for the character.

Any one of Jolie/Theron/Chastain/Winslet/Blanchett would be amazing…

Or… Tilda Swinton. She's 54, a little older than the actresses above, but she looked amazing in Only Lovers Left Alive. With Hiddleston. She's keeps herself in great shape and I think she can play late 30's-early 40's.

Oh god, I'm making myself drool over Tilda Swinton as a Marvel queen :hubba

I think the actress who plays Medusa has to be a little older than the actress playing Carol. You can't have someone like Jessica Chastain or Charlize Theron as Carol, and then a 20-something or early 30-something actress playing Medusa. Medusa needs to command respect and authority immediately, even just by her presence.

It's a shame that Marvel don't have the FF, because they could've had some great crossovers with the Inhumans. Imagine Medusa losing her memory and ending up temporarily in the Frightful Four. Or imagine her joining the FF as part of the team. An amnesiac Medusa could've been a cool way to introduce her character into the MCU, with others eventually discovering that she's the queen of an inhuman race.

If everyone is going to mention "older" gals,I'd like to see Naomi Watts as Medusa.I think she has the presence for Medusa, and it would just be nice seeing her in a Marvel film.

I'd argue Medusa is more in need of an older, commanding actress than even Captain Marvel. I can buy a relatively young air force officer but I feel it'd be a waste to have a badass regal queen played by a 20 year old.

People keep suggesting these two for Carol Danvers, but I think either Charlize Theron or Jessica Chastain would better better for Medusa. They would also have the more regal presence. If you get them for Carol, who are you going to get with that air of authority for Medusa?

Yeah I could see that. At least I can't see anyone complaining about their age.

Evan Rachel Wood - Medusa

Here's a question: should the actress who plays Medusa be first-billed in the movie? Black Bolt is the most well-known of The Inhumans, but given he's mute, Medusa is going to be the one doing more of the talking and having the more active presence in the narrative. And in the recent comics she's really stepped up as the main character.

I could see that, but maybe she'd be better as Crystal. Evan Rachel Wood is a bit young to be queen of the Inhumans at 27. How young are they going to make Crystal then?

Ideally she should, but Marvel might want to put Blackbolt first and it will also depend on the actor playing either of these roles and how big they are and what is stipulated in their contracts.

Christina Hendricks for Medusa!!!
Seriously watch her in Mad Men and you'll agree with me.
She is beautiful, commanding and sassy.
That red hair too.

It depends on which actor has more star power.

I prefer Medusa being first billed and being the heavy lifter of the royal family as naturally she would be the mouthpiece if the king/leader. For me the casting of the female roles are key. Medusa should be someone with both gravitas and elegance. All the other roles are actually easier I think. Wood is actually not a bad choice as she'll be 31 by the time the film hits. Crystal could be played by Shailene Woodley

I think someone like Charlize Theron or Jessica Chastain would have the gravitas and elegance for Medusa. Theron seems like a queen.

Crystal could appeal more to the younger crowd with a younger actress.

There are a few actresses who could be great as Medusa. Jessica Chastain would indeed be a strong choice, as would Eva Green. But my current top pick has to be Rosamund Pike. I think she'd knock a role like this out of the park.

I'd really love to see Rosamund Pike as Medusa too. It'd be great if Marvel got her especially after post-Gone Girl hype.

A lot of the acting it girls would be great. Chastain. Pike. I kind of want Cate Blanchett for it.

Cate Blanchett is like 45 though. She'll be 49 when this movie is set to come out. Way too old.

I think Medusa can be an older actress, and it could really lend an air of gravitas to the character. As long as the actress still looks good, then she should be fine. Even someone like Madeleine Stowe could've worked as Medusa. She's 56 but she still looks the same as she always has even in her 30s, although that does lead me to question if she was ever young.

Only thing is she might seem slightly too villainous now after Revenge, but then Medusa did have that slightly villainous edge to her when she first appeared since she was part of the Frightful Four originally before being revealed to actually being an Inhuman with amnesia.

Surprised I haven't seen her name in this thread: Emily Blunt. I know that her name has been thrown about for Carol, and she was almost Black Widow, but I think Medusa would suit her talents best. I've been impressed by her ability to portray royalty in the past.

I think Blunt would be better as Medusa as well than Carol to be honest. First off, she looks more like the character than she does Carol, and being a British actress, she would bring a certain queenly gravitas to the role, especially when she speaks, than wasting her British accent by putting on an American one for Carol. I think Medusa has to be very eloquent since Blackbolt isn't, and Emily would be great for that. She also has a certain aloofness in her look that is perfect for the role, as if she's above her subjects.

Tell me this doesn't scream Medusa:

Physically I don't really find anything stand out about her that favors either character. She is an attractive member of her race who has had both blonde and red hair. That's usually as far as the likeness goes for most of the characters.

She has that aloofness in her face that would've suited either Black Widow or Medusa, but less so for Carol Danvers. For BW, it's consistent with being a spy and maintaining a cool facade. For Medusa, it's that regal air and the way she just carries herself generally with a certain elegance, poise and grace.
