Frankly, I think it's unrealistic to think anyone besides Vin Diesel will be Black Bolt. Unless Marvel is openly lying to his face or he's crazy.

I may be the only one who thinks this but I could reallllly see Angelina Jolie as Medusa. I think she has the face for it which will be the most important thing, plus she has physicality which we know from Tomb Raider. She could play regal.

I believe Medusa is an easy casting. There are several fantastic actresses that fit the bill, most have been suggested in this thread.

To me, Medusa has been the star of the Inhumans for quite some time. So they need to make sure it's someone who can carry the role. That being said, she would be far and away the biggest name to be cast (at the time of casting).

Nah, it's only as of recent. Crystal has always been the face of the Inhumans, but for some reason Marvel has been hellbent on pushing Medusa more.

I think the MCU will go back to Crystal as the face again. She seems like a great protagonist character and has that relatability factor with the audience.

The graphic novel (collected as "By Right of Birth") focuses on Medusa because it's about her pregnancy. The Marvel Knights series is equally split between Medusa and Black Bolt (I'm sure Crystal had a role, but it certainly wasn't memorable). Son of M focuses on Quicksilver (as the title implies). Silent War doesn't really have a focus (I'd go Gorgon if anyone, maybe Black Bolt). Realm of Kings is Medusa and Black Bolt. Once Black Bolt disappears, it's Medusa. Infinity is Black Bolt, followed by Medusa. Inhumanity and Inhuman focus on Medusa.

Like I said, it hasn't focused on Crystal since the 1970s.

Caught the GOTG toon today, the INHUMANS episode. Was thinking about how the casting of Bolt AND Medusa is going to be insanely key. They are kind of a package deal when you think of it and not only does the actor playing Bolt have to do so much without the aide of their voice most of the time, but the actress playing Medusa must also give a hell of a performance not only for her character but also as the "voice" of Black Bolt. I'm not even sure where to start in trying to crack that nut.

It's a tough call. To me, you want a seasoned veteran actress to pull it off, but you also need someone who has no problem being the lead role in an ongoing franchise (and possible appearances in other movies). Charlize Theron and Kate Winslet are two suggestions, but both could run into those problems. But, on the other hand, a young up and coming actress wouldn't be the right fit and the veterans I can think of are usually either unwilling to commit to many roles or they don't quite have the gravitas to pull the character off. To me, Medusa may be the toughest character to cast in the MCU (I thought Captain America was very difficult as well and they nailed that, though).

BTW, I decided to answer in this thread rather than both. Black Bolt is a bit easier. He really does just need to stand there looking grim. I'd argue direction is more important than casting for him.

I like the Rebecca Ferguson suggestion. She had a posh-like attitude in MI-RN. I wanted Blanchett for a long time but I guess she'll be in Thor 3. Jessica Chastain would work (just about as anyone, she's a great actress), I can't help but think she'd be too uninspired.

I like Fergeson too. She's young but man, did I expect to find out she was like between 30 and 33, simply from her presence and confidence acting across from Cruise in HIS franchise.

Ferguson would be a great choice, she conveyed power and nobility as Ilsa Faust, 2 things that would be important for Medusa IMO.

Actually Medusa was the first break out star of the Inhumans - she was featured in a solo story in Marvel Super Heroes #15 and Spider-Man #62, both in July 1968. The month before Triton was the guest star in Sub-Mariner - Marvel was really pushing the Inhumans at this time...

Interesting. Keep in mind that Medusa also has a history that predates the revelation of the Inhumans since she was part of the Frightful Four.
