The Shield

Anyone catching the S5 spots that run on FX? ****, i'm excited.

Dang, I need to watch more TV. We are a short time away from the new season, I hope the show gets back the intensity of the season before last. Last was good, but not as nail biting as the one before.

unfortunately, we opted not to have Cable in my new apartment, so I will have to wait to see season 5 on DVD

Hey man, don't worry about it. I record every episode on dvd for my dad as he doesn't have cable either, can just copy those dvd's I make for you and send one out every 4 or 5 episodes. You just pay for the dvd and postage. Let me know.

Hate to see a fellow fan go without.

wow, oregon, that would be sweet. How much would the DVDs run about? postage would probably only be like, 3 bucks, right?

Forest Whitaker and extra episodes? F**king awesome!

On a mildy related note though... Whitaker rocks, but have any of you seen a movie he was in called Ghost Dog? What a pile of crap!

I saw Ghost Dog in the theatres and loved it, thank you very much. It's eclectic, not meant for everyone

Okay, sorry dude... I'm not trying to put down anyone who liked it. I saw in in a film class a few years back and just personally thought it was lousy. The story and even the characters were okay, I just thought it was poorly made and very poorly paced. Also, as much as I like Whitaker, I felt he was completely miscast. But to each his own.

hey, if your teacher was showing it in his film class, obviously he saw something in it, too

DVD's are pretty cheap, like less than a buck each and they would be media mail when sent, so yeah shipping will be dirt cheap. If you care to price the shipping I live in zip code 97222 and the package should be right around 1 pound (roundning up the weight to include packing material)

Won't take me but minutes to make one for you as I will have them made for my dad anyway.

ive never watched this show i kinda wish i wouldve got into a few years back

Well the good thing about that is you can go rent each season on DVD and watch them back to back. The crappy thing about being a fan is the seasons have been 13 episodes long and it is basically a ten month wait for the new season, you can enjoy weeks of good tv all at once. We have some serious withdrawls for the new season.

Embrace your virginity as once it is over you will feel the hunger pains like the rest of us.

Ok, so i've been cruising the imdb boards, and found out some new stuff.

Apparently, Forest Whitaker is joining the cast this season, AND on top of that, season 5 will have a supposed 18-21 episodes. Crazy cool.

It just leads me to believe more and more that this is the end. :(

18 to 21? Does anyone else have any confirmation on this?

If this is true, it could very well be the last season, but considering we usually only get 13 episodes a season, that many episodes is like two seasons in one.

Anybody know when Season 5 on dvd? Currently im at mid season 3 and easily becoming one of my fav shows

Finally...I saw a commercial for the upcoming season. I was on the phone so I couldn't make out the music playing, but it was basically Shane and Vic standing in front of a grave/gravestone...assuming it's Lem's. Vic was looking down in an obviously very pissed off look....Shane looked a little more tense. :) I can't wait for this show to come back. I can still hear Vic:

"We're going to find out who did this and we're going to kill them."

Anyone else looking forward to this??

Well now that Lem is gone, i think that this indeed should be the last season. I mean the strike team won't feel like 'The Strike Team' we know and love without Lem, and the backstabbing Shane 'the sandwich bomber' .. :o

That was a really good closing. Speaking of closing moments, this goddamned show has some of the best music montages i've seen on a television show. Very moving stuff. I think my favorite is tied between the "Overcome" montage in the S2 finale, or the "Disarm" montage in the 5.11 closing.

The Shield is one of my all time favorite TV shows. Probably the best cop show since Miami Vice, if not ever. I'm kinda surprised I found myself rooting for Vic after the first episode when he killed Terry. My grandfather was a Mountie, as was my great grandfather and my great, great grandfather. So cheering for a cop who murdered another cop to me is just kinda . . . odd. But this show managed to pull it off.

For me the show jumped the shark when Shane killed Lem. Lem was just beginning to come into his own as a character, and then they killed him off. Up until Season 5, Lem and Ronnie just seemed to be there as Vic and Shane's backup. For most of the series I couldn't even remember their names. I just thought of them as "The Bearded Guy" (Ronnie) and "The Surfer Dude" (Lem). Then finally Lem begins to develop a personality of his own and all of a sudden he's dead.

Anyway, just thought I'd add my 2¢. Great show, but a slightly disappointing 6th and 7th season. At least IMHO.

I'm almost done rewatching Heroes. I haven't watched The Shield in almost 2 years. It may just be time to go ahead and get it in again.

Glad you liked it Thundarr. The Shield is also one of my top favorite shows of all time too. I have to slightly disagree with you about jumping the shark though. Shane was always a dirtbag and what he did to Lem was the culmination of all the shady crap he did, especially with Tavon.

Also, I thought season 7 was absolutely FANTASTIC and gave us some of the show's greatest scenes. When Vic makes THAT confession at the end, oh man that was just amazing television.

So yeah, one of the greatest shows ever. :woot:

He was a guest on SportsTalk 980 last week during the Super Bowl and he was talking about how there is serious talks to bring the show back now.
