doesn't somebody say this every week?

That-Guy said:Great episode, especially the end. The whole "Justice League Moment" with the Strike Team was a little corny, but it worked because it was good to see them all get along again. Still, I think Army is going to (unintentionally) f**k them all over. I don't think he's smart enough to pass the polygraph. Nevertheless, they'll find a way out of it. I'm just really happy that the Strike Team is back, because they're devotion to each other is really the heart of the show.
The Acevada subplot in this episode was also very well done... it made me hate him a little bit less. I hope we see more of the blonde hooker... I actually really like her character. Plus she's a hottie. But does anyone else think she looks a LOT like Danni? Are the two actresses related or something?
Herr Logan said:You ever notice how they spend most of their time trying to avoid getting caught for their illegal and unethical deeds? I swear, sometimes it seems like a high school show where kids try to cover up what they did and not get caught by the principal. You have to wonder if it would really be worth the stress, being cops as dirty as they are. I can understand Mackey's motivation at this point in time, now that he knows he has one and maybe two autistic kids, but that wasn't the case at the very beginning of the season. Shane also has a kid to provide for, which was a stupid decision to make, especially with that b1tch he's now married to. Why didn't it occur to Lemanski and Ronnie that there's barely anything in it for them to stay on this course but the pleasure of the company of a sociopath and a his redneck protege?
Anyway, great show. Very disturbing, very well written.

That-Guy said:Well, there are always those reasons, but I think what this episode showed was that they do what they do because they care about each other. As pissed off as Lem might get at Shane, he summed it up best in an episode last season (the one where he burned the money) where he called them the only family he has.
jonty30 said:Unfortunantly, from a psychological standpoint, once you decide to become a dirty cop, it's very difficult to extricate yourself from the situation. If Ronnie or Lemanski decided to stop being dirty, they risk being exposed by Mackey. Perhaps if L + R found themselves in a dangerous situation and needed backup, Mackey and Shane might chose to stay in the van.
Herr Logan said:This is true. They're definitely followers and relatively easy to manipulate. Shane is the only one who knows for a fact just how far Mackey will go if he thinks someone close to him is a risk to him, so I'm not sure if Ronnie and Lemansky are worried about Mackey paying them back if they simply choose to back out of his regular operations.
I learned in a law enforcement class that they classify corrupt cops (as indivuals, not in terms of the entire department) into two categories: "grass eaters" and "meat eaters." "Grass eaters" take advantage of opportunities for corruption when they arise, and don't plan their day around being a dirty cop. "Meat eaters" proactively seek out opportunities for corruption and plan their day around them. Vic Mackey is the biggest "meater eater" I can imagine actually existing in a police department in a big city like L.A.
Mackey actually convinces me that he's a man of principles and loyalty at times (and he is, in his own selfish and corrupt way). He's such a great sociopath, and Michael Chiklis is a phenomenal actor. I liked him on "The Commish," and I love him on "The Shield," even though he plays such a repulsive and hypocritical criminal. Vic is the least of what disturbs me about this show, so I'm always more at ease when he's working his sleazy magic.

I don't think Shane knows how far Mackey will go. He knows that Mackey will kill, but I don't think that Shane realizes that Mackey has targetted him as the ultimate fall guy once Mackey has decided to retire.
I'm really pissed that I don't get to watch this show anymore and have to remember the show from two years ago.

Herr Logan said:Mackey has targeted Shane as the ultimate fall guy? How so?
Do you mean that Shane is supposed to inherit all of Vic's connections and ongoing criminal enterprises, and since Shane isn't as smart as Vic, he'll probably get caught once Vic is no longer holding his hand and keeping him out of trouble? I think I've seen every episode, but I might have missed a detail or two, so please elaborate.
Why don't you get to watch the show anymore?

I prefer watching the series in order, though, but I don't know if I';ll be able to catch it every week for season 4. it's on tuesdays at 9, right? I get off at 9, so I'd probably miss the first half of every episode each week![]()
