The Snowman (Fassbender)

Love it. Very in keeping with the kind of 90's prestige-ish dark thrillers I love.

Jack Frost certainly took a turn for the worse.

Doesn't disappoint. Hopefully the movie doesn't but damn if it doesn't look impressive. We need more of these types of movies. There aren't enough anymore.

The original novel was absolutely brilliant and contains one of my favorite plot twists ever in the genre...
If the cops don't investigate the serial killer....create him. Give a name! The Snowman. Write creepy letters!
Do creepy phone calls! Convince them he is real, so they get off their ass and properly investigate a decade worth of murders.

Looks visually striking too. So good.

^Ok I kinda wish I hadn't read that spoiler, but damn that sounds good.

Edit: Went a bit too far on the spoilers here folks (even spoilered lol) . Enjoy the story. It's much deeper than you expect!

Didn't know it was Tomas Alfredson doing the film. No wonder people were looking forward to it. The trailer shook me real hard, and I'm very excited to see this.

Nah it's fine, you tagged it and clearly indicated it was the big twist, so it's totally my own damn fault for clicking anyway, lol. I love spoilers as they've never actually "spoiled" a movie for me even when I know the whole damn plot, so it's really no big deal. :yay:

Also, while I loved the looks of Let the Right One In and Tinker Tailer, I like that Alfredson's changing up his aesthetic on this one.

Phew thankfully I didn't see any of the spoilers, but I'm definitely intrigued. I'll be picking up the novel to give it a go first.

Yeah it's been a while since I read the book, but it's a twisty thriller. A little too many red herrings, but I'm sure those will be cut down, but this could be the next great mystery thriller if done right.

I am beyond stoked for this film. This, this is the kind of films that need to be made more. The 90's and early 2000's were filled with great mystery/psychological thrillers. I'm not sure why they seemed to have gone away.

I'm hoping this manages to deliver on the twist. It's unfortunate because, when I watch a movie, I can't turn my brain off. I usually manage to guess things before they play out by observing certain things.

I kind of want to read the book but, I want to be surprised/shocked. I don't know which one I want to experience first. I read "Gone Girl" before I saw the movie. While the twist was a bit predictable/cliche, it was executed well so I commend Flynn on that. Plus, I'm a sucker for Fincher's films. haha *And Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross musical scores*

I'm really hyped for this. Saw the trailer last night and have high hopes.

I think you might be confused with another book (maybe another Nesbø book?) because that's not what happens in this one.

So, is it safe to read that spoiler then? I'm really curious after seeing Flick Chicks response.

It spoils the whole movie, practically.

I hope that's not true. Haha I may have jumped the gun...I thought it wasn't a spoiler for the film/novel, based on Myra's reaction. I ended up reading it. -_-

I will say, if that turns out to be what happens...I'll be disappointed.

Just saw the trailer for this. Holy crap this looks good.

The Snowman is very real, and he's been killing for 12 years.
This IS a whodunit. But the threats to the cops aren't "real" which is what you are spoiled about. But the serial killer is real. He's just very secretive actually......until someone pretends to be him to taunt the police.

Hope this clears things up haha.

Nope it's this one. MASSIVE BOOK SPOILERS (flickchick85......this is the motherload.........knock yourself out my friend!)

Katrine created the killer, to force Harry and the others cops to investigate the Snowman because he killed her father. She is even arrested for ALL murders. Mathias is just recreating his mother's murder over and over, and he is not behind a single message from the killer. Except the snowmen. He does build these. Harry finds her "lair" where she created all of the fake "Snowman" letters. He only realizes it's Mathias when he figures out that The Snowman is hiding his victims's bodies by turning them in at the university's anatomy department.

I love how the writer brought him back for The Leopard, as a Hannibal like figure. Completely insane that guy is hahaha, making bodypart snowmen out of innocent women (well...not in his eyes!)

If this is too spoilery I can remove it.

Thank you CardPlayer for clearing that up for me; I appreciate it! I'm looking forward to seeing this movie. Hopefully the twist manages to resonate with the audience. *Best twist so far I've experienced in the theater is Spider-Man: Homecoming. The audible gasps and vocal bewilderment always made the pay off in the shows.*

Love the book, hopefully this lives up to it. Look's really good.

New trailer has tons of stuff that doesn't happen in the novel. Makes me excited.

Very excited for this one. Always down for a good thriller.
