Yeah its a sham that it end after only 2 season. I think the 90's cartoon was better but had this show gotten like 4 season my opinuin of that may have changed lol. So how long did it take you to go though the 20 episode you have watched?

Doing a rewatch on this show and currently six episodes in. Forgot just how good this show was, I love everything about it.

You have to love a show that had Doc Ock drink from a mug that says Evil Genius:

I mean that is just awesome lol.

I remember hanging out on the ToonZone boards while the show first aired, and by the end of season 1 even fans of the comics were convinced that Harry had been the Goblin at least some of the time.

It's always a tricky balance when a show is adapting a really cool mystery that was solved decades ago in the comics and is generally well-known to the viewers beforehand. ARROW, for instance, liked to intro characters who by their name seemed destined to wear a mask, and then put the mask on a different character (see Merlyn, Black Canary, Deathstroke but in reverse, etc.)

Generally SSM took it easy with most of its villains and reveals, but they way they unfolded the Osborn two-step is easily one of the show's high watermarks. :word:

I wasn't on Toonzone but I was on another Spidey related board...I think it was the Sony Pictures one, anyway, yeah I remember the heavy debates about the GG's true identity. [BLACKOUT]After Uncertainty Principle, many people including myself were convinced it was Harry.[/BLACKOUT] Kudos to those who knew better but it's like even they weren't totally sure of themselves. [BLACKOUT]I'm just glad it ended up being Norman the entire time. [/BLACKOUT]And again, Weisman and his staff deserve some big props for taking such a well known story in the Spidey mythos and putting a spin on it that made things new and fresh while keeping the classic part intact.

With the great rep this show has, I'm surprised some of you are only seeing it now.

Youngins :yay:

The Lizard fight in the subway actually has a lot of direct visual cues taken from ASM#45's fight between Spidey & the Lizard. A few years back I took some scans and posted them on Toonzone with shots from the episode and a few months later I heard an interview with Victor Cook and he mentioned being surprised it took that long for those to be spotted. :woot:

I gotta find that again. Hm.

That's pretty cool. I never knew or noticed that--if you find 'em, please post them.

i'm watching episode 13 right now. for the most part, I think it's really really good! the characters have been integrated into the story very well making the whole narrative very entertaining to follow.

Out of curiosity, what parts are not agreeing with you?

I loooooooove this show

It's like the writers actually had a firm knowledge of the characters :cwink:

Ultimate Spider-Man is getting cancelled. Sony and Marvel are cooperating the movies. Weisman has an existing relationship with both Disney and Sony people. Please let the stars align to bring this back.

Absolutely love this series!

How they took their time and developed each character, even the minor ones is awesome. Oh and without a doubt the BEST depiction of Green Goblin/Norman Osborn and Doctor Octopus I've seen yet.

I am a huge Goblin fan (since childhood) and this is hands down my favorite depiction of him!

THIS is how I want Norman/Goblin to be portrayed in the live action films (I mean I do love William Dafoe) but I prefer Norman as a already evil man who just becomes even worse after he takes the Goblin Formula, rather then a good man who goes crazy.

I loved how the show kept you guessing as to who the Goblin was even though you already knew who he is suppose to be. I was actually on the edge of my seat hoping it would be Norman, only to be disappointed that it was Harry and then thrilled to discover it was Norman in the end! :woot:

Oh and I loved seeing Ock as the evil megalomaniac that he is and to see him take command of the Sinister Six was a breath of fresh air after the 90's show where Kingpin was in charge of everything and Ock was pretty much just his henchman.

Pretty much everything on this show was well done, I still can't believe it was canceled.

Can you post links where Google say it ended. If show was over that news would be around lots of websites.

I remember hearing about this a couple of months ago. It wasn't a cancellation announcement, but rather the crew working on the show being laid off....which usually isn't a good sign.

As far as a season 4 announcement, I haven't seen anything.

There was a tweet posted not too long ago by someone involved with USM that stated season 4 was happening. It was taken down rather quickly though. Besides that, I haven't seen anything either. Nor has there been a confirmed cancellation.

BTW, that's a pretty cool avatar. Oh and I live in 'hell' too, lol.

Oh my god, Venom_1988 is back. There's a blast from the past. Where the heck have you been hiding? It's been a dog's age.

It has indeed been a long time lol. I have slowly but surely been creeping back onto the forums, making random posts here and there but mostly lurking about.

I was briefly without internet for a couple of years after I graduated college, which is why I took a big absence. But all is well now :hyper:

Well welcome back. You really are a dose of nostalgia lol. You were one of the members who was here for the Raimi movies hi jinx, when we had a Spectacular Spider-Man forum to discuss the new episodes, when the USM comic was actually good and had everyone reading it. You were also a regular in all the villain fan threads in Spidey World like the Doc Ock one.

Sorry just recounting happy times. I miss those days. Simpler more fun times for Spidey. Anyway I hope you stick around more. Nice to see some of the old school back. I feel like a relic around here sometimes being only one of the very few who's been here pre 2010 lol.

it's hard to say now because I was watching it on youtube on a different tab that time I made that post, so at this moment I don't remember why I said that. Now that I've watched the entire show, it's difficult for me to point out what are the flaws since it was so damn good.

I know there were in fact flaws though. Just can't think of em now.

As for my own criticism, I could tell they had plans with the love story (among other things) but I really liked peter with liz. I'm guessing they had plans to bring them together and then have the night gwen stacy died and either have liz get back together with or maryj. -sigh- either way, I was all for shipping liz with peter this whole show.

Yes.
I enjoy USM more than most folks here, and still think it's a major step-down.

See now your just making me feel old lol but I do plan on sticking around a bit more.

And just to be sure to be on topic...uhhh...SSM still rocks :spidey:

I think that's another testament to the writing on this show. People always refer to the mystery and reveal surrounding the GG as one of the highlights and I certainly feel that it deserves those kudos but I also felt the love story was something that was well-crafted.

Just like with the identity of the GG, comic readers know that Pete is supposed to end up with Gwen and awhile later supposed to end up with MJ. While Pete is with Liz we know that the relationship will end at some point but the cool thing they did with the writing was make Liz likeable. It would have been so much easier to paint Liz as this bad person or someone who is not a good match for Peter, but here they did the opposite. Liz was really into Pete, she forgave him for his lateness on several occasions and even a no-show or two she was still supportive of his endeavors. They had some good chemistry, their 'date' at Coney Island showed they were compatible and were a good fit. The writers did a good job of making it difficult for the audience to immediately accept Gwen because of how good Liz was, even though the attraction and chemistry was much greater between Pete and Gwen.

i'm guessing usm was a huge step down.

Yes.

more like a fall from the edge of the Grand Canyon... :o

Pretty big fall indeed. But are we talking Dante's ninth circle deep or Mariana's trench deep?

I remember seeing you when I was new here, I think you posted for a while before going out.

SSM will always rock, even when (here's hoping) a better show comes up.

I love that quip from Market Force. :D

it doesn't matter... deep means DEEP... BURY it deep or SINK it deep... as long as USM is finally out of sight and eventually out of mind... :o
