The Spidey theme is soo generic. I expected better from Giacchino.

No idea what Giaccino is doing, the only reason I can think of is that the material he has been given isn't enough to do something quite 'epic' with. You can't make an epic orchestral 500 opera singers going off the walls (Elfman style) to a suburban based teen Spider-Man flick, and Peter Parker is 15 years old, it just wouldn't fit.

Really is the most disappointing aspect so far, music is key to these films and that almost sounds like something you could throw into a 2006 video game as a generic theme, it has it's moments though, I suppose. It should, and could be so much more, especially coming from Micheal. He has proven himself time and time again.

tbh, nearly everything could be seen as generic from what we've been shown. Even with the various creative changes, it doesn't feel fresh, or exciting or new. It's just, there. For the most part, it feels, for a lack of a better term, 'safe'. Hopefully the movie itself has more personality & heart, but so far 85-90% of what I've seen falls under that umbrella

That leak looks more promising as things go by though, that leaker did say that the score was generic and was just like any other super hero theme. Which could of been a lucky shot in the dark, but ... who knows.

Maybe safe is what they need right now? Win back the public with an establishing 'This is Spider-Man in the MCU' film, really push the love in those next Avenger titles, and then the sequel they push the boundaries a little and we get a really special film?

[This is me trying to rationalize and justify what is going on. :woot:]

'Safe' is very generic, definitely not what Spider-Man needs. The comparisons to John Hughes movies, as well as Feige's comments about going for the same quality as SM2 mean the film should be much more than just safe. Regardless of one's opinion on the rather divisive creative choices, the overall quality of the film should be much higher than that And it's not like that's unrealistic for Marvel. This is the same studio that made stuff like Winter Soldier, IM 1, Avengers & GotG; movies that were more than just generic or safe. Even their not so well received movies are generally more favorable than the average ill-received CBM. Plus, Spider-Man is the top dog of Marvel, regardless of Iron Man's or Cap's Cinematic successes Spider-Man is still on top. He's to Marvel what Batman & Superman are to DC. Marvel & Sony both know how important it is to deliver a quality Spider-Man film after the string of not so favourable releases from Sony. Playing it safe for the return of the hero Feige and Co have spoken so passionately about (even straight up calling him 'the greatest superhero who deserves the greatest films') is a let down. Marvel are capable of so much more

Rereading my response, I sound a little heated :funny:. hope you don't think I'm attacking you, I just want my favorite hero to be back where he belongs (on top) like he was 10-15 years ago, regardless of my personal distaste of alot of the creative choices

Someone please tell me that Spider-Man is not afraid of heights in this film?

But he is. It's been stated. He also has arachnophobia and general paranoia which offsets his spider sense.

Don't worry, I know. It's all very odd, what is happening. Unfortunately, no matter the way we look at it, Spider-Man has to deal with something that no other hero has had to deal with at the moment, he needs to enter an already established universe which has been going on for, what... 10 years?

However, WE know that Spider-Man is the most iconic hero, but you can't just enter it 10 years down the line, after -all- these other heroes have been rocking the place for years, and take the throne. (yes, he should of been there from the start, however, he just wasn't, for obvious reasons.)

Now we have to deal with this odd marketing strategy of telling the public that this is MCU Spidey, it's going to be somehow DIFFERENT to the other FIVE Spider-Man films, and technically, Amazing Spider-Man 1/2 count as a reboot, and a soft reboot in one, because Amazing Spider-Man 2 was so drastically different to 1. It's going to be DIFFERENT, but the same... but like the original.. BUT also new, etcetc. Mix that with Sony sticking there heads into creative decisions and Marvel butting heads, it was always going to end up either generic, or a cluster.

We're talking of course, as if we've seen the film, as I always say, we'll just have to wait and see. I'm still looking forward to this film, but does it look like the Homecoming Spider-Man deserves, and is that score something he deserves?

Not a chance.

some of their decsions are borderline ridculas.spider-man afaird of heights:whatever:outfit from stark:csad: questionable decsions regarding supporting cast.i don't know if this is director feige or rothman interfearing again but it doesn't sound good.

Feige even when marvel does film i am critical of usually does better job of combining 616,ultimate,and new ideas than they are for homecoming.
This is Spider-man oneof most recquinable characters in all of comics.and they
are doing a lot to make him unrequabe in homecoming to some hardcore fans.

...Oh, and about that Spidey being scared of heights thing, as bad as that sounds on paper, if they do it correctly, that could be done amazing. Imagine him being scared in the first film, but by the third he is doing Raimi style flips and tricks in the centre of New York, showing how much he'ss progressed, but once again, that has the unfortunate bite of making this film feel like a stepping stone to get to the proper stuff.

Still don't get why the CG suit looks so bad. It looks really animated.

I wonder what the budget on this movie was. It's possible, after being burned by TASM 2 revenue Sony may have been a little tight on the funding, which is why some CGI may not look that great

We're going to get scenes of Tony Stark coaxing Peter Parker to jump down off a stool, and then a bookcase and then off the top of a house in order to help him conquer his fear of heights. :o

The height thing isn't a bad thing. Makes him more relatable. I have a fear of heights and I'm sure being bit by a radioactive spider would not change that. I've been trying to write something about a swashbuckling hero and thinking about adding my fear of heights. At first I thought it doesn't work, but then thought that's an interesting twist. So I find it interesting that Marvel is trying this with Spidey. I'm sure he will eventually overcome it.

And I will agree that the new music was initially underwhelming. I was very excited when they announced Giacchino. But, I've been listening to this a few times now and it's slowly growing on me. I have to see how it plays out on the film.

how can Spidey still be afraid of heights in this film when he fought a ******** GIANT in Civil War and hitched a ride to War Machine flying around the sky?

He showed no fear of heights in Civil War, so it's entirely stupid to include it here, especially since Homecoming takes place AFTER Civil War and several months into Peter being Spidey.

I can understand Peter being afraid of heights pre-bite, and when he first tests his powers out as Spidey.

But several months in? after tangling with a literal Giant and flying suits in Civil War?

no way.

actually the powers would change that.

his powers give him near perfect balance and equilibrium. once he figures that out, once he figures out what his powers can do, his fears should be gone.

especially if he's been doing this for several months and AFTER his experience in Civil War where he fought a GIANT man.
