The Spirit Roto Bust by Mezco, releasing January 28th:

Looks cool. Really detailed. The domino mask still looks wierd... but, overall, it's a great piece of merch.


And, I don't mean it's completely bad... it's just the only part of the change that I think requires some time to grow on people. Even people who instantly loved the change from the iconic blue to the more generic detective look have said the mask looks strange.

Knowing Eisner's thoughts on the mask, I know it's meant to be a spoof of a disguise. That's not what we mean (at least what I mean). It just looks cheap... and not like a plot device 'cheap'... not like the character Denny didn't spend a lot of money on a useless disguise.

I mean, it sort of looks like the production company didn't spend a lot of money. It sort of looks like it's got the consistency of a fruit roll up.

It's not awful... it just looks 'off'. And, not in the storytelling, mocking-costumes sort of way.

The bust is pretty darn solid, though. The size of the image made me think about the mask in general.
