The Spirit's Release Date

The release date for The Spirit is currently set for early January...isn't that where studios typically dump films they know are terrible? The only films that come out that are worth seeing in January are Oscar-bait films expanding to wide release after a limited run in late December.

Do they know something we don't? This is not a good sign to me.

I don't know about America but January is mid Summer holidays here in Australia and probable when most people would be more inclined to see a movie. but I don’t know if the overseas market holds much sway with movie producers.
