Doesn't quite make sense in the context of the previous film, but it's so ironic, post-modern and metatextual that it's genius. Stan Lee and Jack Kirby did try and get into Reed and Sue's wedding in the comics way back in the 60's.

SPOILERS

He is a guest trying to gain admittance to Reed and Sue Richards’ celebrity wedding. “But I’m Stan Lee,” he protests when the door guard refuses him entry.

Is there any allusion to the security folks being some of Nick Fury's buddies?

lol. The cameo was absolutely hilarious. He put on a very nice little show.

If you check out my thread, The Fantastic Four guest starring Stan and Jack, you can see that appearance from FF annual #3 (in fact the whole story) plus several more that occurs in the FF, like in Waid and Wieringo's "Hereafter" and the What If issue that Jack Kirby wrote and pencilled where the Bullpen had become the FF. End of Public Service Annoucement....

The Marvels take on the wedding was great too - even John, Paul, George and Ringo were in attendance.

And don't forget the Twisted Toyfare Theatre version, where Johnny stomps HERBIE and Namor stops the wedding to declare his love for Reed...

I'm going to leave this thread open.......I want to keep IM's thread free of alot of discussion on just the cameo in the movie.....BUT her thread is a great read, and everyone should take a look there.

Thanks Kel, and I will be finishing up the "What if the Marvel Bullpen had Become the Fantastic Four" later on today, if my scanner holds up. :woot:

I really liked Stan Lee's cameo. It was very well done and brought a smile to my face.

It was hilarious....got a big laugh from the audience.

Only the comic geeks(ME) laughed...all the old people and kids were like who is Stan Lee???

You had a very different crowd than I did......when he first showed up, I heard a kid's voice shout "There's Stan Lee!".....old and young at my theater new Stan.

It 'took me out of the moment' but it was still a hilarious scene. Easily one of Stan's best

I felt bad for Stan though...it was funny but Stan should have beat him down. I am actually suprised people on here aren't bashing Stan's cameos because of the continuity being compromised from film to film within the same franchise.

I think its pretty cool that with each cameo, Stan's role has become bigger, first it was just some face, now he has lines and all that. And I found it really funny but i had to point out to my friends "THATS STAN LEE!"

his cameo got a great laugh...it was a fun moment.

A funny little moment. Me and about 2-3 other people got it. Mind you there were only about 20 some or 30 some in my theater.

Yeah that was my favourite stan lee cameo. Although I dont think many people got it when i watched it.

Neat little metaphor given the freedoms taken. Stan Lee is shown the door.

That would be way over-analyzing. :cwink:

I thought Stan's cameos in this summer's Spidey & FF films were his best ever!

I enjoyed Stan's cameo very much. It made me wanting more.

Why couldn't they (the producers) have invitied: Tobey McGuire, Ben Affleck, Patrick Steward, Halle Barry, Hugh Jackman...etc....you get the point. Heck, even invite Brandon Routh and Christian Bale (they could sit on the other side:cwink: ). These actors would not even have to talk, just maybe a shot of them greeting one another as they arrived (in plain clothes, no costumes). Since they would not have to talk, much less admit to being Spiderman or X-Men, then I think it would have been legal without breaking copyright laws.

I assumed that all the characters in the Fox universe like Daredevil and the X-Men could do crossovers with the FF if need be. I'd go crazy if they ever did a FF/X-Men movie.

Seeing it again yesterday, I thought about the talk of character or actor cameos from last fall (remember the Kelsey Grammer/Hank McCoy rumour?)
and my opinion is that anything like that would have distracted from the story. I'm happy with just Stan.
