we can blame Cain's costume for having been worst than Chris Reeve's one that was anterior, but it has been made by the same kind of guys that mades Georges Reeves' one

Well George Reeves' costume was a staple for a very long time of what Superman looked like outside of the comics. It captured the essance of the comic and difined a generations view of who Superman was. Cains costume was not only a techical failure but also a visual one as well. It substituted staples from the past for trendy and absurd tweaks. The lace up wrestling boots were horrible and a total lack of imagination on the writers part in effort to make his life seem more problematic. The belt buckle was a tweak that well just wasnt needed. The cape was a failure from the start. No thought was put into it. It almost choked him in the pilot. Than there was the hanging of the cape on his shoulders. I put it this way because I just dont know what they were trying to do. The boots later became a darker red hense clashing with the rest of the costume. The cape was WAY to big. I could go on and on. It was basically a long list of bad judgement calls. Reeves' costume worked for its day. Reeve's costume worked and also captured the look and feel of the comic book. That is what you want to do. After all.....it is a comic book.

from the pictures I've seen of it, I would rather have an \S/ like that in the movie than the \S/ that was on the costume for the rest of the series.

Every single Superman suit thats been on film has been an absolute Disgrace. They should be ashamed.
And Dean Caine? I love my latin homies but Superman is not that ethnic.

The new suit will probably be made of some other material and the 'S' will be embossed slightly or even solid .
And i bet there will be NO red underpants.

...and NO Tom Welling.

Uh yeah. Disgrace huh? Thats great...well your opinion means squat now. Oh and Cain isnt Latino. He is Welsh, Japanese, French-Canadian and Irish. If your gonna dump on people at least get your facts straight. But if you feel the costumes were a disgrace than the films were as well. Because they did not do what was intended.

Yeah i think that is the only time is Superman's film and TV history where they actually used the classic S and not some deformed version of it.

Yeah it was small i admit but i never really liked the big \S/ on his chest that they used through most of the show!l

georges reeves' suit was crap... those who made it didn't even wonder if it would look good, they just picked the costume of the comic and copied it... actually, every Superman suits have been made the same way but Chris Reeves' one worked better... I hope the costume designer on Singer's movie will Think about the costume, what does it mean, how to explain it... etc

Well yeah, I guess it was crap but that was for the time it was in. To those views of that time I bet they though it was okay. We are so sophisticated when it comes to TV and Movie viewing that we see and expect wonder attention to detail. I think once they get to that the suit will look great.

To compare a suit that is over 50 years old to todays standards is absurd. That's like saying that the original Star Wars sucks because the f/x arent as good as the new ones.

420house,
It doesn't matter what Dean Caines exact ethnic background is, I'm of mixed race as it is too. But Superman should be white regardless. I suggest you read a Superman comic book.

The costume in the reeves movies was the best so far, but we hold a higher standard nowadays hence X-Men wearing leather instead of yellow Spandex, DareDevil, Spidey costumes all work.

The 'S' will be redesigned slightly I'll bet, and the suit will not resemble a halloween rental suit used in previous screen adaptions like Lois and Clark(horrible yellow square buckle).

We all want a great costume. If that offends you, I suggest booking a superman costume right now at your nearest Costume store and be first in line at the store when it opens. Steal the suit, don't give it back, and come summer 2006, wear that crappy suit with the red underpants to Superman 5 in protest.

Don't be surprised if people laugh when your in line though.

i am sorry but the FX technics have evolved much more than clothing technics.... 50 years ago they were able to do a good suit, but they didn't do it because they didn't care at all.... 25 years ago they weren't able to do the same fx than today..

on the right, he looks like billy d. williams.

Dean Cains costume is a dark blued disgrace.
With that silly square buckle..just awful.
Look at how much effort they put in a TV series like Farscape and other Sci-Fi shows and they couldn't make a costume thats a cut above a halloween rental.

Bloody Disgrace.
