The Superhero Cinematic Civil War of Tomorrow Thread - Part 62

Look.

I fell out of love with him years ago, but none of these new people have a smidge of Corporate Champion era Rock’s charisma.
Oh yeah, when I say I'm the biggest Rock fan I really mean as a wrestler. I got introduced and addicted on wrestling in 99 & 2000 because of him when he was the top babyface as The People's Champion. So at the end of the day he's one of my childhood heroes, so I could never be a hater.

I think he's a fine actor too when he wants to be (awesome in Pain & Gain), but he had definitely been phoning it in for awhile now.

Eager to see Smashing Machine probably this weekend, which will honestly be the first time I've seen a Rock movie in the theater since Get Smart lol.

Sometimes I wish I was still in the loop with wrestling. I watched religiously in the late '90s-early '00s but I fell off except for a brief relapse about 13 years ago. I still paid enough attention to know about guys like Cena and Batista in the mid-late '00s.

If anything I just want to understand the wrestling thread title references here and what the significance of "larger nipples" is. :o

WWE's starting to suck again. But at least AEW isn't solely about making money.

Just to give an idea of how long it's been since I really watched wrestling, Santino Marella had just won the US Championship and was rambling on about his two Roman soldiers (aka his biceps). :o

Yeah, I stopped watching when that ESPN deal was announced. But truth be told I was growing less interested with the creative as the year went on. Outside that brief moment at Summerslam with Cena vs Cody, it's been months of lackluster creative

Yeah, it started a bit ago. But the last month of the ESPN deal and Saudi Mania are just the cherry on some very trying creative. Only Iyo/Warriors is really working for me.

Haven't really watched any wrestling since probably 2004
Tried again recently because my gf went down a rabbit hole of watching classic matches for some reason

but god was it painful
Yeah, none of the current group can hold a candle to the Rock or Stone Cold back in the day when it comes to cutting a promo

but idk, maybe its like SNL where the best era was always when you were a teenager watching it

I used to like The Rock a lot but everything around Black Adam made me tired of him. Ryan Reynolds has since usurped that "overexposed guy I'm sick of seeing" stigma but right now I'd prefer Dwayne Johnson in small doses.

Yeah that made me kinda despise him too. Although I guess he kinda inadvertently destroyed Zachary Levi’s career so sometimes good things can happen out of chaos.

Yeah I’m about to take another hiatus from WWE soon again too.

I grew up on it in the 90s, but then I stopped around Wrestlemania 23. Got back into it during the pandemic and was hooked again.

But now that they want to monetize every damn thing and my faves aren’t featured as much, I’m over it.

Nah, it was better. You see the difference when the old guys come back and make the newer folks look absolutely terrible in comparison. No way Hogan or Flair could out talk prime Austin or Rock. Punk does this constantly to the current roster and this ain't Prime Punk,

AEW has a few men I would say are close. MJF is such a talent, Hangman and Kingston feel real.

I second the John Cena praise. Definitely the best acting. I’ve seen from him yet.

It’s so interesting watching the show and see him improve as an actor in real time.
Oh he doesn't look like that anymore.

Each strand of hair missing from his head represents a teenage virgin girl he's fantasized about. :o
Of course that f**ker looks like that. They all look the same.

But Marty Supreme has Kevin O'Leary

TBH I don't think I've watched wrestling since 2000 or 2001 lol.

Though I will say in recent years, I've sort of been more aware of newer things going on through random clips I see on social media so I'm aware of the newer people in the last 25 years. But that's it lol.

Curious who you've seen. Has Rhea Ripley broken containment?
