The Superhero Cinematic Civil War of Tomorrow Thread - Part 62

CG, they hate practical.
Actually…

“Isn’t it nuts? I’m excited and amazed. It’s been 23 years since I was a superhero. I’ve had some makeup tests already for the role, but what’s great about it was that before it was about 4 and a half hours to apply it, but now it’s only 90 minutes. Before, all of the tattoos were done by hand. They hadn’t decided on them before we started filming. Now, they just stick onto my face. It’s a game changer. I’m going back to being a 60-year-old superhero, and everyone seems really lovely.”
While I don’t doubt there will be CGI supplementation, they do seem to be taking a bit of a different approach with this film than they did in the past and trying to go as practical and as in camera as possible.

That makes sense. With all of these numerous characters, doing all of the nonhuman characters in post using CGI on everything would be a logistical nightmare. So, they’re probably going doing what they can on the day of shooting and reserving VFX for the more elaborate and CGI intensive sequences.

Not even implying, it’s going to make the film better or anything or dissuade people from their pessimism. You’re wrong in feeling or thinking that way, and I’m pretty much right with you there. It’s just that, if I’m going to be cynical or pessimistic about something, I’d at least like it to be properly founded and informed first.
