Random thought for the day.

There is no way on earth, that you can fold up a fitted sheet neatly. :)

For your first move, you gotta fold it in half, lengthwise, and tuck adjacent corners into one another. The rest is pie.

 :)

I just wanted to make the observation that most olympic male figure skaters need to get new costume designers...

Some of the ugly things those guys wear are amazingly awful.

And you've got to think that the decoration on some of them hinders the skaters' balance and ability to perform aerials.

One guy had huge slashed sleeves that kept ballooning ...

Still wont work. :( But thanks for the tip.

Wow... are they planning for the sixth to be the last season, if this is true?

Or could Tom need some room in his sked for a movie and they're bending over backwards helping him out?

I was thinking that that article says 26 episodes next season. So that makes it 4 more than a usual season.

We know that they are filming episode 18 at the moment, so does that mean that they are only planning 20 for this season. Or was that earlier rumour of there being 24 episodes this season true, and they have now cut it back down to 22.

Anyone know how many Eps James Masters (Brainiac) is under contact to appear i think its 7 or 8.

I thought he said if they liked what he did, it would be 10. And I think they like what he did.

So.....

Arrival, Aqua , Thirst , Splinter, Solitude = 5
Hypnotic, Void = 2

Now if my maths is right 5 + 3 = 8. Leaving 2 episodes left presumable one will be the season finale.

LOL!

Yeah, it sucks when your costume is so aerodynamically unsound it ruins your ability to perform. :D ;)

Too funny....

Does Arrival count as one of the episodes he'll be in? I mean... he was only in the last minute or so and didn't even have a line.

I guess if he was credited, it counts but that sucks if so. He needs to do three more, not just two more, after Hypnotic and Void.

Since he was credited I guess that counts.

I really hope those rumours were true form a while back about Masters becoming a season regular, i mean they are down a cast member now.

Yeah, I hope so too but he turned down the lead role in the Harry Dresden TV movie that Sci-Fi is doing (I think it's still filming) namely because he doesn't want to spend too much time up in Vancouver. It's a back door pilot and the actors had to commit to doing the series (a five year committment) if it got picked up. JM balked.

Marsters has a child in LA, apparently. So, I think as long as he doesn't have to move to Vancouver, he might do it.

Tom had to move to Vancouver for smallville?

-------------------------

Anyone in the Queens, NY area want to help me put my treadmill together? After hauling this 350lb beast across the street, through 4 doors, into the elevator up six flights, and onto my livingroom floor, it turns out i need TWO people to put it together.

No, he *have* to move there and didn't the first season. However, after he got married he relocated there... I mean, it's a 10 month a year gig and a pretty tough job for the lead so it would make sense to more or less live there during the shoot sked.

MR lives up there during the shooting sked but maintains a house in LA and I think AM does the same thing.

AO splits her time between NYC and Vancouver and JG has houses in both Vancouver and Maryland.

I believe that JS was the only member of the cast that didn't have a house or apartment in Vancouver... he'd fly in and stay at a hotel for his shooting days.

It's probably part of the reason he wasn't too upset about Jonathan getting offed... He wouldn't miss the kids things he had been missing, like birthdays and what have you...

If he did join as a regular its possible he could fall into the Erica Durance and John Glover category and only appear in 13 of the 22 episodes per year. Meaning in theory he wouldn’t have to move Vancouver.

While driving home today, I heard a clip on the radio that mentioned Smallville. It was from an old Will and Grace episode! Geek that I am, I had to come home and look it up.

This was from 2003.

SCENE I: Will's Apartment

[WILL AND GRACE ARE WATCHING TV.]

WILL: What is it about "Smallville" that brings out both the teenage girl and the lecherous old man in me?

GRACE: It's the writing. So how's living with your mother? Think you'll do a Christmas card together? Maybe you guys and a couple of schnauzers?

WILL: Don't remind me. I spend every minute with her. Museums, shopping, hair appointments. In the last seven days we've had eight dinners together. Don't ask me how.

GRACE: Where is she now?

WILL: Well, we had an early dinner. I sent her off to see Gypsy. We'll probably get a quick bite later on. Oh, now I see how that works.

[JACK ENTERS.]

JACK: Hmm, interesting. "Smallville" night. Oh, I used to be a part of that back in the day. Don't have time for it anymore. Why?

[JACK PRETENDS TO SMOKE A CIGARETTE.]

JACK: Got one-liner in an off-broadway play.

it's a good thing no one watches will and grace on smallville..

Here's an excerpt from an article at Gainesville.com. I laughed at the pyramid scheme part. How many of us do that? [raises hand]:

The not-so-secret TV lives of guys
By Lauren Rich
2/21/06

... Whether it's the witty banter between Lorelai and Rory Gilmore, the quirkiness of Seth Cohen, Clark Kent's super powers, or the Housewives' powers of manipulation, week after week, masses of college-age and teen girls crowd their televisions for an hour to watch these lively characters. Yet, look at the faces seated in front of the set again, and you just may see a male spectator. While the reasons girls tune in may seem obvious, what keeps guys fixated on these shows season after season is more of a mystery.

Numerous male students at the University of Florida openly advertise their membership to groups such as "'Desperate Housewives' Crosses Gender Barriers" on popular networking site Facebook.com, yet few willingly came forward about their television habits for this story.

"People make fun because the shows are on the WB and are not sports," said Bob Nardi, a senior accounting major at UF.

Even though Warner Brothers appears to cater demographically to females, each show possesses its own unique set of characteristics that draw male viewers in weekly. ...

bilde

... Bob Nardi seats himself in front of his wide-screen television every Thursday for the WB drama "Smallville," which recounts the trials and tribulations of a young Superman.

"It's like 'Dawson's Creek' with super powers," Nardi said. "If you're watching a teen drama then there must be super powers."

Since Superman is an established American icon, the outcome of the drama is already clear. Growing up, Nardi always followed the adventures of Superman, but when he began watching "Smallville" his friends mocked him. Nardi, unfazed by the comments, responds by lending friends a season of his "Smallville" DVDs, and encourages them to watch three episodes. "They end up watching the whole season in three days," Nardi said. Now, when something significant happens on the show, for example the death of Clark's father in a recent episode, Nardi has a telephone network of friends who call to discuss the event.

Nardi has developed a pyramid scheme for "Smallville", encouraging his friends to persuade their friends to watch. After recruiting his mother and grandmother to watch the show, he expanded to an entire unit of the US Army who now watch "Smallville" onboard their submarine. "I'm going global with the addiction," he said.

Nardi feels that he should receive a weekly check from WB executives in return for the promotion he does for their Thursday night drama. "I think I single-handedly keep ratings up," he said.

Nardi's obsession with "Smallville" comes off the TV screen and into the living room, where the walls are adorned with life-sized posters of Kristin Kreuk (Lana Lang) and Tom Welling (Clark Kent). Nardi also recently penned his own plotline for a "Smallville" episode. ...

... Despite what many girls may assume, these men watch these shows for more than just the attractive actresses. In fact, according to Montag, "the girls come and go in any shows," and making the plot lines enthralling is more important to keep viewers interested. Alone or in groups, guys tune in weekly for an hour with their favorite teen dramas. Each with their own unique reasons, these men defend their viewing choices and remain loyal fans.

That's the thing I always find funny when I hear Smallville being described as a teen drama. 'Cause it just isnt.

I'm a 40+ female, and dont fit the most common demographics. Aside from the fact that I have grown up with the Superman character and have loved every incarnation of it out there, the drama that pops up on Smallville is far from what most teenagers go through.

I have teenage sons and if there lives were that complicated they wouldnt make it to 20.

Yeah, alot of people think I'm geekish 'cause I watch it, but if they actually took the time to sit down and really watch it, they would see that it is far more than a teen drama. Although I do have conversations with my kids' friends about it. :O

I think the WB built themselves a reputation that they cant get out of, so hopefully with the new CW network they can try a different advertising strategy, and hopefully they can attract more viewers.

Plus Tom Welling is really HOT! :)

Just for the heck of it, I rewatched the DVD of Red with commentary by TW, MR, KK, and GB today. Sooo damn funny! I'd forgotten that they actually talk about "Clex" ;) and Tom does his great Gollum impression and Keanu. All you hear Kristin do is crack up, basically. She must have been in the same studio as Tom though, because you could hear them quietly saying things to each other. It seems to strange that they (okay, Tom) could forget so much about the episode, but I guess they much just all blend together after a while. I thought the funniest part was the whole Incredible Hulk/Bill Bixby riff that Michael went off on. Hysterical. :D

I love that and the Rosetta commentary. They're just hilarious together. I so wish they would do some more.

Please Mr. W, Mr. R, do a season 5 commentary, and Ms. K. you can tag along too. :D

WHOA! First page of Variety this morning...

Warner's men in tights
'Batman,' 'Superman' to see sequel action
By PAMELA MCCLINTOCK

The superhero sequel engine is revving up bigtime.

Warner Bros. Pictures is already planning the next installments to "Batman Begins" and "Superman Returns," with respective helmers Christopher Nolan and Bryan Singer in line to return.

Neither director's deal is closed; the studio has hired Jonah Nolan -- Christopher's brother -- to pen the screenplay for the untitled "Batman" project. Studio has options on "Batman Begins" star Christian Bale and "Superman Returns" star Brandon Routh.

Next installment in the Caped Crusader franchise is further along in the process since "Batman Begins" was released last summer; Singer's "Superman Returns," now in post, doesn't bow until June 30.

Legendary Pictures, which put up half the financing for both "Batman Begins" and "Superman Returns," is expected to board the sequels and split the budgets 50/50 with Warner Bros. In return, Legendary would split all profits, also 50/50.

The Warners-based Legendary, led by Thomas Tull, is a financing and development company backed by more than $500 million in private equity.

Projects come as no surprise considering Warner's proclivity for big-budget tentpoles. "Batman" and "Superman" sequels could make their debut in 2008 and 2009, respectively.

"Superman" update, which has been in the works for the better part of a decade, is already considered one of the more costly pics in Hollywood history, although Warner Bros.' exposure is dramatically lessened by Legendary's involvement.

Factoring in tax breaks offered in Australia -- where "Superman Returns" was shot -- studio execs have unofficially put the production budget at $185 million. Without those breaks of about 12%, budget is easily north of $200 million. And it's not clear how much previous commitments have cost the studio.

Warner execs are high on Singer's pic, which returns the comicbook hero to the bigscreen after more than 20 years. Traditionally, Superman has enjoyed wider appeal than the grittier Batman.

Nolan's "Batman" took in $205.3 million in the U.S. and $166.5 million overseas.

One idea being tossed about is for Singer to direct a "Superman" sequel soon after he finishes with Warner's remake of sci-fi thriller "Logan's Run," which he's also expected to direct.

"Logan's Run" is tentatively skedded to begin shooting this fall in Vancouver. If Singer did pact to direct the "Superman" sequel, that pic could be shot in Vancouver as well.

Singer is also set to direct "The Mayor of Castro Street," which is in development at Warner Bros.

It's not clear when the "Batman Begins" sequel would begin shooting, although it would likely start production and be released before the "Superman" sequel.

Christopher Nolan is presently shooting "The Prestige," a Disney release that Jonah Nolan scripted from a Christopher Priest novel.

"Batman Begins" co-writers David Goyer and Christopher Nolan wrote a treatment for the sequel. Goyer, who recently completed "The Invisible" for Touchstone, also is set to write and direct "The Flash" for Warners.
