The Amazing Spider-Man 2 The TASM 2 Costume Thread

I remember flipping out (in a really good way, of course) when I first saw this picture last year.

And to imagine, I think the suits looks even BETTER in the actual movie (judging from the trailers and tv spots). It's like a John Romita Jr. page jumped onto the screen, just like how the costume from the Raimi movies felt like a Steve Ditko page jumped onto the screen.

It's Ditko as the red belt has 4 lines rather than 3.

No complaints about the big eyes. But I still hope to one day see Spidey with Dell'otto style eyes.

Honestly I prefer smaller eyes.

Honestly, I like the smaller eyes for costumes like the Steve Ditko and Sam Raimi ones, because of how Spider-Man's body is built in them. He's not as skinny in the early comics, so I think the smaller eyes work well with that body type, if that makes any sense.

It's just like how I like the bigger eyes more on the John Romita Jr. and Marc Webb costumes, because they're a good balance for how skinny Spider-Man is.

I don't have a preference on either look, honestly. I love them both. :)

Makes him look sinister which worked for ASM1 but the ASM2 bigger eyes works with the vibrant and bright colour pallet of the movie.

I so hope we get Spidey with the symbiot in the Movie. Would be a great way to get both styles of eyes in the Movie. Small when he's pissed, big when he's in normal condition.

Too thin, if it's smaller eyes go for ASM's size.

Imagine if they made the eyes as big as they are for Ultimate LOL.

My main concerns with the costume were the size of the eyes (thought it would look goofy) and gray/silver webbing (I want black webbing). Both look fantastic on the big screen.

Yep -I think its when Spidey leaves Harry's room after telling him he won't give the blood.

I loved Harry's wear in this. Everything I expect to see out of him. Gwen wore all sexy stuff haha.

Did anyone notice Peter's outfit when they showed the seasons montage change of him visiting Gwen's grave? The one where we wore sort of a vintage trucker jacket with an interesting collar, and the grey beanie?

I love spider man costume and peter jacket both are awesome and i have taken costume yet but his jacket left, i will take it too. Look at here spider man costume.

I keep seeing people hating on the villain costume designs for TASM2, most particularly Rhino.
Do people not understand that original designs from comics just simply wouldn't work in a movie in this day and age and that designs need to have a "modern" spin on them? Like for Spider-Man 2, they ditched the green and yellow suit for Doc Ock and just gave him a trench coat instead. Electro's comic design isn't something that would translate well to film and neither is Green Goblin's green and purple suit; the villains wouldn't have looked intimidating at all if they were given them designs.
I get that there will be people who would be unaware that there's an Ultimate Spider-Man universe that the TASM series is drawing inspiration from but you think that they'd accept that there has to be a "modern take" on character designs from comics to aesthetically work in a movie and so that the characters/villains aren't ridiculed for looking silly and cosplayish.

Funny you say that cause all those years we were bombarded by statements like batman will always gonna wear ugly black rubber armor in the movies no matter what we fanboys wish.
And yet here we are with a bat suit made with a thick fabric similar to the comic costume even retaining the black & grey colors.
Just because the designers in Spider-Man are lazy and use the generic costumes route that doesn't mean we can't get if more faithful translations on screen than un creative total reinventions that alienate the fans.

Still think ASM1 suit is better:

I honestly never understood why people don't like it!

It's also kinda similar to the Ben Reilly suit. :woot:

Because, erm, leg stripes, or something...

As I said on another forum the other day; I thought it worked perfectly in accentuating Spider-Man's lithe and athletic figure and I also thought the colouring and textures really made it pop.

I agree, 100%. :woot: The colours were really vibrant. Wish it made a return. :(
