The Amazing Spider-Man 2 The TASM 2 Costume Thread

Funny you say that cause all those years we were bombarded by statements like batman will always gonna wear ugly black rubber armor in the movies no matter what we fanboys wish.
And yet here we are with a bat suit made with a thick fabric similar to the comic costume even retaining the black & grey colors.
Just because the designers in Spider-Man are lazy and use the generic costumes route that doesn't mean we can't get if more faithful translations on screen than un creative total reinventions that alienate the fans.

Batfleck is a great example of being faithful to the black and grey Batman suit which I'm glad for but it just seems a bit more difficult to stay as faithful with characters that have really "vibrant" suits (the green and purple for GG, green and yellow for Doc Ock).
As long as designs for characters don't look out of place in the movie's universe (which I thought none of the designs were for the TASM2 villains) then I don't really mind them changing the original look of a character.

Still think ASM1 suit is better:

I don't mind the TASM suit; I don't dislike it but I wouldn't say I'm ecstatic over it either. It looks awesome in that first picture but I think the small eyes and the angle of the eyes in the 2nd pic put me off the suit.
I'm glad they went for the classic Spidey look for TASM2 though :woot:

I really liked the first costume but the last one is better :woot:

Tasm 1 costume is just bad batman with niplers looks better then the tasm 1 costume.

No.

It's not worse than this.

to me it is lol. But really I don't like the asm 1 costume. At first I hated it and after a while it went for hating it to just ok but asm2 is a million times better costume and perfect.

It kinda looks like this

and it's different. I like different. They weren't afraid to stray from the norm.

To quote my post from page 1...
I really enjoy the clothing Peter wears in both movies. I think it successfully captures a modern day young guy's aesthetic.

In TASM, he looked more grungy, while still looking modern. He basically looked like a skater most of the time. Black slim jeans with a baggy jacket and hoodie underneath. That's been popular for years. Not to mention Kym Barrett's subtle choice of adding a carabiner to his belt loop and having it tucked into his back pocket. I've been doing that same thing to hold my keys since high school!

And in TASM2, the taste is still very modern, just more generic and refined. He wears like the classic black peacoat, blue jeans, and chucks. How generic can you get? Haha. And I don't mean that in a bad way. I read a lot of comics even back to the Michelinie era and it always showed Peter in generic clothing but to the era of which he was living in.
And you also see him wearing an American Apparel hoodie in this movie (http://store.americanapparel.net/flex-fleece-zip-hoodie_f497) You can't get anymore modern than that lol.

Lastly, the outfit that stands out to me most is what he's wearing when he gets dim sum (?) with Gwen.

This is actually considered pretty put together for a 19 yr old. (According to GQ and all those guys.) It's a basic cotton jacket, but it's short cut so very fitting, over a denim shirt and slim khakis. It's very modern day. I wonder why they chose it.
After seeing the movie, it makes total sense why he's dressed that way. It was for a more formal-ish dinner with Gwen's family so he dressed a bit nicer, despite not even going.

That reminds me... you know what Peter was wearing in the subway scene?

I just happened to be wearing the same thing during my first viewing.
