Funny you say that cause all those years we were bombarded by statements like batman will always gonna wear ugly black rubber armor in the movies no matter what we fanboys wish.
And yet here we are with a bat suit made with a thick fabric similar to the comic costume even retaining the black & grey colors.
Just because the designers in Spider-Man are lazy and use the generic costumes route that doesn't mean we can't get if more faithful translations on screen than un creative total reinventions that alienate the fans.
Batfleck is a great example of being faithful to the black and grey Batman suit which I'm glad for but it just seems a bit more difficult to stay as faithful with characters that have really "vibrant" suits (the green and purple for GG, green and yellow for Doc Ock).
As long as designs for characters don't look out of place in the movie's universe (which I thought none of the designs were for the TASM2 villains) then I don't really mind them changing the original look of a character.
