Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment have released the announce trailer for Injustice 2, the sequel to Injustice: Gods Among Us. Injustice 2 is the latest game developed by NetherRealm Studios, the studio behind the Mortal Kombat franchise, and will feature a large roster of DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains and that players can “build and power up.” Injustice 2 is scheduled for release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2017.

“In Injustice 2, we are introducing new features that will change the way fans play fighting games,” said Ed Boon, Creative Director, NetherRealm Studios in a press release. “We’re always interested in pushing the genre forward and allowing players to customize and level-up their favorite DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains is a significant leap.”

“Expanding the DC Universe in games continues to be one of our top priorities, and Injustice 2 showcases amazing gameplay and an original story to bring the characters to life for players,” said David Haddad, President, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “NetherRealm Studios is offering fans an experience of customizing and battling with DC’s iconic characters in an entirely new way.”

In Injustice 2, players will be able to personalize DC’s characters with unique gear earned through gameplay, allowing them to customize how the characters “look, fight, and develop” through the game.

Injustice 2 continues the story of Injustice: Gods Among Us “as Batman and his allies work towards putting the pieces of society back together while struggling against those who want to restore Superman’s regime. In the midst of the chaos, a new threat appears that will put Earth’s existence at risk. Players can play from the biggest DC roster ever offered in a fighting game, from classic fan favorites such as Batman, Superman, Supergirl and Aquaman, to astonishing new villains like Atrocitus and Gorilla Grodd. Battles will take place across arenas that have evolved in scale and span across iconic locations such as Metropolis, Gotham City and Atlantis.”

If you can’t wait for Injustice 2, you can load up the Injustice: Gods Among Us mobile game to unlock the Injustice 2 versions of Superman and Aquaman through the in-game Challenge Modes.

Not sure if i like that armor idea, but have to wait and see how they affect the gameplay. Hopefully they aren't there just to sell dlc or some gimmick that becomes old quickly. Maybe the armor system is similar to MK X variations?

it better not be like SFxTK's gems

I guess its up to Tron to make the decision but all talk has been here anyway, so this can just be a general Injustice thread for all things Injustice. Its not like the original is getting much or any discussion anyway

^^ yeah, this thread should be changed to the Official Injustice thread or something.

anyways, I'm quite pleased that my goddess Kara is in!!

she looked pretty good in the trailer, so hopefully the in game model looks similar to that. lol

Injustice 2 offers the latest DC fighting game experience that expands on the previous title’s larger-than-life showdowns. Every battle defines you in a game where players personalize iconic DC characters with unique and powerful gear earned throughout the game. For the first time gamers can take control of how their characters look, fight and develop across a variety of game modes.

Well that's interesting!

"Take control of how they fight."

I wonder if that's alluding to different styles/variations for each character as in MKX?

Gorilla Grodd being in this is amazing. Can't wait

I wonder what's the roster count compared to first game, which was like 20 something plus 4 dlc characters right?

So I mean, do you guys want to just keep everything in this thread? I'm sure there will be enough discussion for a thread of it's own and all, the comic book stuff always gets a lot of traffic, but we can keep it all in here, too.

I don't mind if we keep it all in one Official thread.

More info on the gear system

But we didn’t want to stop there. At NetherRealm, we always want to make games that are fun, challenging and innovative. We strive to give players a level of control that makes playing our games a truly personal experience. For that reason, we have introduced a brand new Gear System, allowing players to build their own version of Superman, their Batman and ultimately, their Injustice Universe.

The Gear System uses RPG-like mechanics to reward you with loot drops every time you play the game. With each loot drop, you will earn character-specific gear to outfit and power up your roster – changing not only the look of each character, but your fight strategy and your personal approach to every match

I see that announcement was made on the PS blog.

do you think that means the PS4 will be the "lead" platform, with possibly exclusive or first access content?

I know that WB typically has a cozier relation with the PS.

The first had 26 for the starting roster and four DLC characters. NRS games don't overdo it when it comes to their rosters. If their previous games are anything to go by, the starting roster for Injustice 2 will be around 25-28 characters. I would like about 30 before any DLC, but we'll be lucky if we get that amount.

with Grodd confirmed, I can see someone like Grundy being dropped.

also, hope the Gears and Random Loot Drop system doesn't mean microtransactions out of the wazoo. :(

Well, I hope it's not Grundy. His chain was awesome. Axe Doomsday or another close quarters guy in that vein.

I hope there will still be alternate skins and if not then I hope we can build costumes like AA/AC Batman and stuff from comics like Earth One Batman or something.

I can pretty much guarantee there will be alt skins of some kind.

[blackout]You may just have to buy them lol[/blackout]

ideally, I'd like to see all the characters from the 1st game return. but, realistically, that probably won't happen.

so, I can see someone like Grundy being dropped.

I forgot, but was Bane in the 1st game?

of course. :o

anyways, speaking of something to pay for, hopefully there will be some sweet Injustice 2 avatars for the PS4, so I can finally get a Superman or Supergirl avvy.

Yes, but I think he's one of the few that has the highest chances of being cut. The others being Zod and Scorpion.

thanks.

yeah, I can see Bane and Zod being cut, too. especially if they replace Zod with another Superman villains like Brainiac. and maybe they will replace Bane with Killer Croc.

I'd rather Scorpion not be in, nor any other MK character.

I wish they would over do it when it comes to roster size, 30 including dlc is too small for me and especially a game containing characters from dc comics

Not to mention with Supergirl being in, having another Kryptonian doesn't seem likely. Plus those two were really only in the first game because they were the villain of their respective foe's last movies at the time.
