I don't think they'll actually show the meteorite coming to Earth, perhaps they'll just state it at some point during the film--that its origin is unearthly. No doubt in a room full of scientist, and maybe Connors.

I disagree, I think they should show the meteorite hitting earth. But I do, however, agree on Connors, maybe he could shed some light for good ol Spidey.

But don't get me wrong, if they do go with the statement of the symbiote being unearthly, that would be good to.

im sure connors is th one who tells spidey that the black suit is a symbiote, thats for sure.

As long as the symboite suit is from outer space and not some genetically engineered protoplasmic "suit" designed in some chemical like in Ultimate Spider-Man . (plant such as Oscorp .)

Oh, believe me, I would want them to show the meteorite hitting the ground, or/and the space-shuttle if John's the one bringing it to Earth. But I think they're going to avoiding it for TIME sake, and for the BUDGET sake.

The Los Angeles Times has a new article discussing Tobey's role as Tully in The Good German. In the article, Tobey talks about his role in Spider-man 3 a little bit as well as Venom's origin in the film.

EXCERPT:

At 27, he (Tobey) debuted Peter Parker, the soulful linchpin of a huge franchise. If the first installment was a classic creation myth, and the second, the "Ordinary People" of superhero movies, the third examines the burden and intoxicating allure of power. Yup, deciphering Maguire's words, there appears to be an existential battle brewing for Spidey's soul. "There's a lot going on in the movie, but part of it is kind of battling my dark side. Peter Parker's own kind of character flaws manifesting into …. " Maguire begins stumbling about, trying not to give too much away.

"Basically, there's the goo, right? The symbiont which has, like, a dark energy, like the goo from the thing that creates venom." To someone not totally versant in the Spider-Man mythology, Maguire sounds vaguely demented. He realizes it, laughs and backs up. He's not referring to venom, but Venom, "a very, very popular character from the later Spider-Man comics. He has the same kind of attributes that Spider-Man has, but he's just stronger, faster and more vicious than Spider-Man. And it comes from this goo that comes from outer space, so first the goo comes and gets hold of me."

According to Maguire, the "Spider-Man 3" story arc was laid out by Sam Raimi and his brother Ivan, and written by 76-year-old Academy Award winning screenwriter Alvin Sargent. At some point, Maguire was consulted. He's known for being opinionated about his characters, and does sound proprietary about his more famous alter ego.

"It's important to me to have continuity of character," he says. "To not see the same movie regurgitated over again, because I would go crazy."

Even within a genre, Maguire wants to make sure to expand his character as far as he can go. He pressed the filmmakers to reinvent the wheel one more time. "I can't play that same scene," he says. "It's just uninteresting. I don't want to see it; I don't want to be in it."

I'd actually prefer it to arrive on earth via meteorite. Leaves more to the mystery, IMO.

Heehee Yes, I think this would be interesting. I'm really wondering now how they will aproach this. Has anyone considered that they may not explain the origin right away, (i.e., some black goo attaches to peter and leaves the audience wondering what it is, until it is explained later by Conners to be a symbiote once Black Spidey has been in full swing for a while)?

I'm very interested to see how much of Peter's Dark side are we going to see in the film as well as how far will they go beyond the boundaries . Since their are going to be a lots of kids going to see this movie .

Tobey says in this article:

This saddens me. Because Peter - his soul is so dynamic, so complex - the possiblities for character development or "continuity" are endless. Thus in my mind, a regurgiation can only happen out of laziness, or sheer lack of artistry. Which neither him nor Raimi are liable of. So then the only reason left, becomes a lack of desire, on either of their part. Well, now we know, who most likely lacks the desire. But it's his choice to make.

I'm kind of sick of Spider-Man saving and interactin gwith children. In two movies he saved, talked to and/or helped 9 kids, not counting the tram full load at the end of SM1.

I cwould like to see this more audlt oriented and his cruelty come out in other ways.

I mean we know just from the trailers he is going to pus hMJ away, almost cheat on her, push MJ at Harry and throw a bomb in Harry's face and try and kill his best friend. I also suspect in the subway fight he'll learn that Sandman was not the one who pulled the trigger on Ben Parker but still try and kill him anyway. Maybe when he floods him like in the trailer he'll think he has and that is the motivation to get rid of the suit (however Sandman really lived and out of anger for a short time joins Venom).

I don't think we need to see him being an ass to children. Trying to blow your best friend's face off is enough, really.
