The Tobey Maguire/Peter Parker Thread

This bit was good too .

Spidey : That's a cute outfit. Did your husband give it to you?

My fave line outta the first movie. Tobey does a great job! Apparently I look like him ( a lil' bit) and also love comic books so my nickname is Peter Parker.

ahh i am glad!

back to Tobey, am i the only one who thinks he's getting chubbier in each movie?
since spidey 1, i dont think he ever got that "wake up stronger scene" body again...

actually, he was skinnier in the second one than he was in the first.

really? because of Seabiscuit? to me, he looked (at least his face) way more in "full moon mode"...

yup.seabiscuit.that, and the fact that hes not wearing the suits anymore in action scenes

does he wear the full suit at all? (sorry i only watched Spidey 2 once, dont remember)

Tobey is a great actor people forget he's done stuff like Cider House Rules, Pleasentville and his departure from type like Wonder Boys and Seabiscuit.

Yeah he was a lot thinner in his no-shirt scene than cut in SM2 because he LOST so much weight for Seabiscuit (okay not so much compared to like Bale but quite a bit). However he gained a lot between 2 and 3 but it seems he cut it back down for 3 though (luckily).

He seems in good shape. And are you telling me Tobey never was dressed as Spider-Man during an action scene in the second or third movie? I find that hard to believe because we have pics of him in full costume on the set in the second movie like when he saves the kids at the beginning or running around on the pier and Harry's mansion and all that (well obviously Harry's mansion). Now I don't expect him to be doing the flips or CGI stuff, but I think we can safely say he was in the costume for the majority of the non-CGI shots.

Also the train scene he was unmasked the whole bit by the way.

Also on one-liners. I have played both movie games (Spider-Man 2 is the definitive Spider-Man videogame right now) and his prett ygood at one-liners. Sure he imsses a few here and there but the majority are right on. I mean he in SM2 sounds like Peter Parker from the comics brought to life.

It is just that RAimi chooses to silence him. I understand action scenes on film can lose their intensity with one-liners but he missed a few good chances in the second one. We have two one-liners in the bak scene and that is it. But I think before he took Aunt May and they were fighting with car parts there could have been a one-liner there. When he catches the thieves on the car there SHOULD (no ifs about it) have been a joke. Something like "Aw, c'mon guys just hang out" as he strings them up on the lamp ost. And I think it would have gotten HUGE laugh as when Ock says "I'd like to see you scurry out of this one" at the end for Spidey to say in a smirky way "Okay." real fast as he pulls the wiring up. As the scene was unitntentionally funny and got a laugh anyways, to have Spidey mock Ock before doing it would've been classic.

And also, when you do use a one-liner don't make them lame. While the one-liner about Crusher Hogan (or whatever his name was) having a wife was hilarious and the one about JJJ when he's going to fight GG was pretty decent, he had some really, REALLY lame ones like "You're the one whose out Gobby....OUT OF YOUR MIND." Or the ultimate groaner "You know who I am....YOU'RE FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN."

Avoid those and use more of the ones from the second movie and wrestlign scene, just more of them please. I mean when he is sparring with everyday thugs and Sandman he should be spouting those every beat. Maybe he should be more serious with Harry and Venom though.

I dont understand why and how coming up with decent 1-liners is a problem. I've read spidey comics darker in content than both movies where spidey has intelligently used witty quips. They need to fix up on the dialogue for the quips and in general beecause most of the dialogue i the spidey movies just dont do it for me.

Yeah, I want a more "cocky" Spider-Man in this one.

I think you will get a more "super-pissed" Spider-man in this one

Remember the hooplah about the back issues and whatnot? That and the fact that they can add in his spidey voiceover in the ADR lead me to beleive hes not in the suit as much, only for scenes when his mask is torn or completely off.
