Would you rather live in a utopia free from labor and pain, or would you rather gain knowledge (relinquish ignorance) and be banished from said utopia?

I'd rather live in Paradise. Knowledge brings more pain then satisfaction. Some of the happiest people in the world are ignorant and have no desire to be anything else.

The trick there is that no "knowledge" was gained. All the Tree Of Knowledge did in the story was give man self awareness to his own imperfection and nakedness. Prior to that in the story man had far more knowledge than he did afterward.

eating from the Tree Of Knowledge merely burdened man with Original Sin, and little more.

Yes, I know, but this is not about the book of genesis. Its about a tree that does give you knowledge vs paradise.

Why all this dressing up?
Just ask, is ignorance bliss?

My answer is no....
With knowledge... I can replicate paradise....
So, option 3

Humans can't replicate paradise with knowledge. We're too flawed as a people to even know what paradise would really be, the smarter you are the harder it is to realize when you should be happy because you always want more

Let me rephrase that...
I would make a paradise of my own according to my preferences...

It wouldn't be the real thing but good enough for me...

Someone saw the trailer to "Year One," recently.

Actually, I haven't thought of Year One since Friday (?) when I saw Star Trek. Is the Garden of Eden in there? I thought they were in a tribe or something.

Yeah, big guy - it was.

Remember - the golden apple: "it taste all knowledgey."

The he made a tribe of "muscles and sticks and awesomeness," or something.

Oh, that's what that was...would I have to read all of the bible to fully get the references? Like, not watching the other Terminators and then going to watch Salvation?

You. . . you really just asked that.

Your Spawn score just dropped an assload.

I'm not allowed a post off from all the self-righteous, egomaniacal, calculated, omnipotent stance and the cultivated consciousness of the immense inferiority of everybody else?

Are you out of your Vulcan mind?

Get back on point. It IS your thread.

Kisses.

Here is a twist to the thread's question....
What if paradise allowed you to play out your favorite movie as the protagonist?

Imagine if your favorite film was Silence of the Lambs... bon apatite

EDIT: You can't really choose the film as it is obtained from your subconscious and you can't change it either. You feel very kick, every scare and every kiss

Hmmm....Paradise or hard labor, pain, disease and death?

Ignorance is bliss. Answers only bring more questions.

And guys....play nice. The thread only just started.

Knowledge sucks. I know enough now to realize that I wish I didnt.
Give me paradise.

I vote for the tree.

The whole garden of eden story is just made up, a way for religious founders to tell the superstitious "We've got all the answers, so don't bother looking for other explanations. You'll be cast out of you do." It's a parable too many see as fact.

Spawn already said this has nothing to do with religion so don't use this thread to bring up your hatred for god
