the only flashback of Roshi i ever saw was when he fought (i think) King Piccolo and even then he was bald.

hahahhah jackie chun. hahahahahhaha now i remember

I'd be surprised if they keep his character of lecherous geezer intact.
since its confirmed they´ll include humor, hopefully they´ll include that part of roshi, probably not to the extent of the anime, since the movie is 2 hours long, but a glimpse of that hopefully

i remember a flashback when he went to karin tower where he had hair

it makes me so angry to see POTC pics of him. he was there almost 90%.

how stupid do you have to be?

i think its because of that movie that he isn´t bald and doesn´t have beard in this one

That'd be a stupid reason. Roshi's big beard and glasses already make him look completely different from Chow's Pirate character. Not to mention little details like the skin. Roshi doesn't look like he never takes a shower.

don´t get me wrong, i think its a stupid reason too
but it seems those things are taken into consideration when making movies
it might not be the reason, just speculating
though i´d definitely leave the sunglasses and the turtle shell out for the movie, it would look ridiculous in my opinion

I can understand the turtle shell. He stopped carrying that thing later anyway. But what's so ridiculous about sunglasses? Seriously, out of everything going on in this movie, sunglasses are the least ridiculous thing.

i don´t know, how many martial artists have you seen fighting with sunglasses? i know roshi is not a conventional martial artist, sunglasses go perfect with him for the anime, but since it seems they are trying to make this movie more serious and real, i don´t think it would fit well into that
its a detail though, for me its an acceptable change
my main concern is how they portray their personalities, i don´t need them to look exactly like the anime

In a movie with wish granting Dragons, demonic aliens and energy blasts, a old martial artist with sunglasses would be unrealistic. Okay...

i don´t think he will, but if he does and doesn´t look weird then even better

its so unrealistic that neo in rain fights with glasses :)

yeah, HUGE RED sunglasses with dark green glass, very much the same as neo´s

Because after already changing so much, they'd refuse to give him any other sunglasses except the red/green one.

if they gave him other non red/green sunglasses, some fans would still whine that they are not red etc etc etc

Yeah that's exactly what I meant. But in the video his hair's turqoise! Haha, but maybe that's the Roshi direction they're going with? And later on he'll loose hair, and grow a beard?!

I just realized that it's Jackie Chun, lol.
What if the promo pic of Chow Yun-Fat is JACKIE CHUN and not ROSHI?!

There'd be a whole lot less of fans whining, that's for sure. The main problem is still that Roshi is just Chow with a hawai shirt slapped on him.

Instead of Chow Yun-Fat with a hawaiian shirt, sunglasses, and a beard slapped on him?

The only thing that would be logical for them to put in a magazine is a picture of him as Jackie Chun.

Instead of Chow Yun-Fat with a hawaiian shirt, sunglasses, and a beard slapped on him?

Why make Chatwin's hair look like Goku? Why put Marsters in heavy make-up to make him look like Piccolo? Why not just have everyone look like normal and just call them by the character's names?

Looks like Roshi to me. . .

Instead of Chow Yun-Fat with a hawaiian shirt, sunglasses, and a beard slapped on him?
and a bald cap.

The fact is, whether you enjoy it or not, it makes more sense to at least age him a little, and there would be fewer fans whining.
