No idea how I got home I think my girlfriend may well have carried me. The pounding head ache, ripped dress and broken high heels are souvenirs of a wonderful new years eve

sandy, i have yet to see gundam 00, but all gundam shows are more or less the same story with different set dressing. i'm sure you'll enjoy it...up until the point at the end where the giant final battle between all significant forces is turned into background for the main character's 3 episode long anti-war speech. but the giant robots kicking each other's asses, awesome.

oh, i love gundam. i've got dynasty warriors gundam 3 in my x box right now and 3 sd model kits i put together over here on the shelf. i'm thinking about going and picking up some little figures i saw today later on. my favorite was the 8th ms team, even tough it was only 8 episodes long it was still awesome, because the leads weren't the big aces the shows typically focus on, but the every men of the conflicts.

I didn't really like 08th MS mainly because Shiro was such a self-righteous bright-eyed ****. Really couldn't stand him.

I did however enjoy the old but moving two (or three?) episode War in the Pocket. That was pretty damn good, also not an "aces" type story.

What surprises me is that you're a Gundam fan lix. I've been touch and go with the franchise myself.

Well, I wasn't really a fan of it.

But Unicorn looks pretty damn good in terms of animation. I borrowed the first blu-ray from the same friend and I was blown away by the sharpness of the animation. The main character is one of those "reluctant" accidental heroes though.

That and Bubblegum Crisis on the sci fi channel was my introduction to anime

I tried watching it sometime ago but the amount of Stock footage used was getting unbearable.

I mean, it was pretty good for its time but I dunno, I hated the pre-emo emoness of nearly all the characters save for Duo, Quatre and Treize.

But Deathscythe was pretty damn badass.

Its surprising mainly because most Americans I chat with on the subject of big robots are usually in three main camps: Transformers takes up the biggest consensus, followed by Evangelion and everything else. Everything else usually consists of Gundam, Mazinger, Macross and all kinds of sub-robot genres.

I know its pretty niche and I remember back in the old comics seeing ads for Gundam Wing on the American cartoon network but I think that was when anime in the States hadn't really taken off yet.

I've heard a lot of comparisons between Wing and 00. I can see why but I feel 00 has a more deeper, darker story than Wing. Wing and the suicidal maniacs who are the pilots (yeah, even Quatre tried to blow himself up once) were pretty one dimensional. Aside from Duo or Quatre, the other three were like permanently moody or something. Then again, I saw Wing AGES ago when it was dubbed in Cantonese (I watched it in my neighbor's. He helped explain the story). Maybe my memory's a little fuzzy.
