That's one I'll probably never watch. My friend's told me about it and it sounds gross.

I'm not a fan of gore either. Koreans and Japanese are crazy with the gore with the whole blood spraying everywhere and the weird mutilation thing they have going on but strangely I don't find it as exploitative as some gore in hollywood movies.

I'm pretty sure Test Audiences don't exist in Asia.

I think it comes from a desire to just portray things as realistic for the Koreans. They don't have the sanitized fantasy world Americans have invented for themselves through all of their censorship. If someone's getting hit in the head with a bat, it's gonna f*** their head up, not cartoonishly knock them out without even a bump.

Meanwhile, I think the Japanese just like really extreme visuals. The huge blood sprays seem to be influenced by anime, which obviously allows for much more extreme visuals than live-action.

Violence is cartoon like in Japanese stuff probably to do woth the Anime/Manga culture they have. The first time me and my friends watched Battle Royale it was almost comical. Its like looney toons with characters who get shoot 20 times yet still stumble about like its only a flesh wound and deliver a 5 minute long monologue.

Some of that American glossy sanatized stuff is fun sometimes beats the relentless grimness of British contemporary movies. The endings of 28 Days Later and Keira Knightley's Pride And Prejudice are downbeat but they gave them a happy ending in the U.S cuts.

Haha, yeah, there were some ridiculous scenes in Battle Royale. Then again, a lot of Shakespeare's characters have similarly drawn-out death scenes. I wonder if he's an influence in Japan...

He's got some degree of influence essentially everywhere

Thre is legendary director Akira Kurosawa 1957movieThrone Of Blood which is a adaptation of Macbeth set in feudal Japan.

Their are a large amount of sayings, phrases and words invented by shakespeare used in language even today.

remember when arcades had games where the interface was more than just a joy stick and 3-8 standard buttons? they have that here, and it's awesome! looked like an idiot on the horse racing/jack hammer the **** out of your invisible partner game, but it was a blast.

Do they have those super fun motorcycle racing games over there

I met an epically hawt biker lady on one of those at an arcade four years ago.

She just walked up to the machine I was playing on climbed on the bike next to me and joined the game

We hooked up in a photo booth she showed me her motorbike which was a thing of beauty and then when I went to get change to play the crane game when I came back she was gone

I was gonna win her a unicorn :(

I liked it. It was freaky.

Also, Patton Oswalt nailing a pregnant chick on a washing machine......yeah....take that mental picture with you for all eternity.

:wow:

That is quite a mental image 'Nubsy

It was this show on Showtime about this chick with Multiple personalty disorder and her family.

You'd like it. She had a bisexual son who loved to bake.

I'mma check this out when I get the chance

It's pretty over the top

I don't really deal well with films that are excessively gory the whole 'gore porn' thing is just something I really dont enjoy watching

I'm okay with violence in movies but when its really extreme I just want to stop watching

The gore in Ichi the Killer didn't bother me at all. It was the lingering shots of "man juice" that made me squirm.

I loved Oldboy's ending personally.

What i liked about the ending was the last reaction, not the part you talk about. >: (
