Mine's got about a 2-hour battery life too. It's new and it wasn't especially cheap. But it's also got hardware that can run plenty of modern games at pretty decent settings.

I keep my laptop plugged in most of the time anyway.

So yeah as much as a tablet might seem like an unnecessary luxury, I WANTZ ONE! :cmad:

My Laptop is relatively cheap its about 9 months old and has a four and a half hour battery

Me too. It's my computer I actually use as a computer. My desktop, which is connected to my TV, has basically become a media hub. I watch Hulu and stuff on it.

I didn't mean it as a boast or anything I just thought most modern Laptops had battery that lasted longer than two hours.

You see Misfits on Entertainment Tonight. The fact its showing on Hulu will be good becuase it would get butchered by censors on mainstream U.S tv like Skins UK and The Inbertweeners

I didn't even know it was showing on Hulu. Gotta look into that and subscribe to that show.

Aren't most best sellers about the same price in hardcover as they are as ebooks?

No, don't think so. Looking at Bestsellers list of e-books on Amazon, most of them are cheaper in e-book than in hardcover or paperback

A couple of exceptions, I think, but generally speaking they are cheaper. Of course, Amazon is kind of a hard gauge since their prices are very fluxy. If you go by list price, they're all quite a bit cheap.

Ah, my mistake. It's the paperbacks that are roughly the same price as the ebooks, not the hardcovers. Well then, with that price difference of a few cents to a dollar, I suppose the Kindle would basically pay for itself after the first couple hundred books.

Well, several of those are a few bucks cheaper than even the paperback edition. And factor in a lot of the free books they have (such as Frankenstein, Last Man, Oz series, Sherlock Holmes collection, etc.), and it probably wouldn't take that long for it to pay off itself, assuming you used those to their full advantage.

I've toyed around with the idea a bit here and there. Not sure when I'll actually make the jump, though. Now that they have Kindle's for just a little over $100 the urge may get me sooner rather than later. Maybe when there's some bridge for getting comics or something.

Dates? Sex with hot women? A true geek craves not these things. :o

Preach it Reverend!

Anyway, I just got ****ed at work because of some wrong proportions in a chemical make-up I was preparing.

Treated myself to sheesha. Sharp as hell on the throat for some reason.

Also: thinking of taking the reboot as my chance to unload my pull list at least for the time being. I need to get my finances straight but every time I say I'm going to take a break from comics, Marvel or DC will pull something straight out of their asses like a new Nova regular series or something:cmad:

Given that my eReader was a gift I'm a fair bit ahead of the price curve to start with...

But really Manic, the only way you're not saving on buying books is if you normally get all of your books from 2nd hand bins. Both hardcovers and paperbacks work out cheaper as eBooks.

The Red Skull is Italian??

Mamma mia!

He's Mario! Plumbing wasn't making him rich like he thought it would

So he became a Nazi and decided to conquer earth

You really should Corp its a hilarious show. Nathan is definitely the bestest character. He is such a ****

It's a real shame he wont be in season 3 :csad:

More like the first 15-20. You add all the free books you can get, your Kindle can pay for itself in the first week.

Actually, I do buy a good portion of my books from a store called Half Price Books that specializes in buying and reselling old books. I only get brand new books whenever I can't find a specific book used.

Really, nothing about my book buying habits tells me to buy an e-reader.

You sound like me from 2 years ago when the first iPad came out. You just sound so damn stubborn.

I mean you personally might not see a use for an e-reader but it's useful. I mean you must love carrying books around with you or something. Or are one of those people that likes having books on his shelf so people think you actually read anything.

I honestly don't know what I'd do with an iPad. I have a smartphone that I only use for phone calls and texting. I went on the internet with it once before I put it down, waited until I got home, and logged on to my desktop.

or like a pseudo book snob

I'm not one of those "I love the smell and texture of a real book" people. I just don't see the purpose in spending $100-$200 for a book reader when I can just buy the books and keep the extra $200.
