  • Frank Miller will write & direct based off his own treatment and screenplay.
  • The screenplay will largely be based around the comic strip from when it first debuted.
  • Michael Uslan had been trying for a long time to bring the story into place. He had two stories pitched to him. One with the Spirit having a costume. Making him more like Batman and less identical to that of the original creation. The other featured The Spirit as a dead man awoken as a supernatarual being with a strange power. Convinced that he had been given the power by the devil & god alike, the man fight's the injustice buried within Central City. Needless to say - none of them were heavily considered.
  • The film is not an origin story. Frank has said that he want's the film to be very much the last half of Batman Begins. He's The Spirit. Nothing else.
  • Frank has commented that the lady in this film are a big deal. He considers this the most important aspect of the story. What made the Spirit such an enduring and fun character was his romance skill along with the contemporary setting.
  • The film will not mark a specific era. Eisner was never aiming for such. He was writing as if time never moved and the city stayed the same.
  • Gabriel Macht will play the lead character of Denny Colt/The Spirit. Frank held an open audition for whomever wanted the lead in the film. They would have to audition.
  • Eva Mendez will play the vindictive Sand Saref. She is a love interest of the Spirit.
  • Scarlet Johansson will play Silk n' Floss.
  • Samuel L. Jackson will play the main villain, The Octopus.
  • Sarah Paulson as Dr. Ellen Dolan.
  • Dan Lauria as the police commisioner Dolan.
  • Jeph Loeb was once attached to write & direct the project. After inactivity and no real script in place -- he came to the decision to leave the film.
  • Frank Miller will do the film in the exact same style as Sin City & 300. He was adamant about keeping clear on the point.
  • Supposedly for pre-production, Frank is cutting out panel's and placing them as storyboards. For the one's that do not fit, he draw's them.
  • Production will begin on October 16th.
  • The poster was revealed at the New York Comic-Con (See below for the image).
I think that's pretty much it for the FAQ. Tell me or PM me should I have missed something.

The previous FAQ that I posted got extremely messed up. Please disregard and lock that thread. Pay attention to this and this only. Please administrator, when you get the chance, lock and destroy that other thread. Thank you.

We're only less than a month away from the first day of shooting. We might see more casting soon announced! (Minor. I believe all the major parts have been filled).

Jamie King has now been cast in an unspecified role.

Eva Mendes recently commented that their going for a more retro 40's/50's feel.

:yay:

The poster's not showing? Other then that, great post, thank you!
