The very first time you used the internet - do you remembah?

The first time I used the Internet was in 97 on my dad's pentium 1 pc.
I would mostly chat on mIRC :o

I was taught the internet at about the age of 9 so that I wouldn't annoy anyone.

Then they couldn't get me off it lol.

I also remember the first time a friend and I checked out an adult website but that might not be a story for the hype (It's really G rated though)

Limewire was my 1st peer to peer experience, before all the viruses.

Mame was, and still is, the BOM!

However the Neo-Geo emulator is my fave. I woulda gone broke having to play KoF2K in the arcade.

I don't remember the *very* first time, although I was certainly old enough that I should lol. I do remember AOL's insanely long connection time and their old chatrooms, though.

Ha, I see Limewire in the post above me. I also remember Kazaa

Its funny I was talking to a couple of my younger brother's friends the other day and they had no clue what a/s/l meant
It made me feel old :(

i remember those aol chat rooms were overrun with dirty old men and porn bots

and when aol let you set custom sounds for messages etc, mine was 'yeah yeah you know it'. i forgot what song thats from though

People still use asl on omegle. If you say 73/m/Kentucky, they end the conversation for some reason.

^ omegle.com, where the server sets you up to chat with a random stranger. People can be pretty crude since they are completely unaccountable, so if you try it out, just keep that in mind!

Most Omegle users are either trolls, or weirdos that disconnect after 3 seconds.

Hence why most of us have never heard of it....'cept you guys......>_>

<_<...

Okay, I admit it, I troll people on omegle. But in a tame way: I pretend to be someone from Star Trek or something until the person either figures it out or disconnects in a huff.

remember any of these gems?:

*geocities
*angelfire
*tripod
*excite
etc

Using Geocities' webpage wizard and backtracking over the code is how I learned HTML back in the summer of 99.

Dial-up is the reason for my awesome stealth skills today. Learning how to overcome that damn racket when signing on helped me learn to enjoy the finer things in life with my parents in the next room. After beating dial-up, VCRs were a cinch!:ninja:

40/M/SE-GA

That'll end most conversations too....

1999---first chat room I ever went in, I got a mysterious window opened with a chatter asking "Stats"

I had no idea what that meant

But soon I caught on that it meant I was 17-M-GA

I had an Excite e-mail account! And I had various Angelfire webpages about celebrities, haha. I learned a decent amount of basic HTML from it, actually.
