The Viva Pinata Hype Thread (that's right, ANOTHER)

CM Punk said:
Ocarina of Time looks kiddy, I'm not going to play it. I'd rather play Tony Hawk and Madden games so I can be "mature". Because the "mature" thing to do is to forego fun in favor of image afterall.
Though if one cares about image, then they wouldn't touch video games

Because video games haven't become a very popular pass time like movies or television that pretty much everyone touches in one way or another, with games like Madden or GTA, right?

Who gives a damn about what is popular or what everyone else touches? Shouldn't the games that someone enjoys playing be good enough?

Even if it's just a GTA clone or NFL Roster Update by EA.

I'm thinking this conversation has gone totally over your head if that is your response

If someone wants to play a game rated E, great. Have fun.

If someone else wants to play a game rated M, great. Have fun.

I think CM Punk's point is that some people (mostly teenagers) put down games like 'Viva Pinata' (without actually playing them) just because they look kiddy, and would rather play something like GTA, not because of actual gameplay, but because it has blood and hookers and all that.

But when you grow out of your teenage years, teenagers don't matter

I really hate when people try to be profound, but end up being dumb, usually saying something totally irrelevant or nonsensical. Teenagers don't matter if you're not a teenager.......so when they say stupid things, or do stupid things, you ignore that it's happening. That's great.

I laugh at them and continue on with my life. The same applies for everyone else.

IGN gave it an 8.5

Not bad

for a kiddy game :cmad:

I kid :p

:ninja:

There should be a Gears of War/Viva Pinata cross-over game.

I agree. Gears of War is so awesome, I'd love to grow a garden that would attract the Cogs, or have a shooter where I chainsaw the crappy games Rare's made.

I've taken some time to read back through this thread, and it's really kind of depressing.
We have a moron who's best defense in an argument isn't a fact, or even the usual "ass backwards logic and lies" that you see on here so often, but incoherent nonsense about a skirt and being a "fairy queen".

It reminds me of when I was in the 2nd grade, there was this kid named Ryan, and to get under his skin, we'd all say "she" instead of "he" when referring to him, or tell him to go play with his dolls. I can't remember a single one of us doing anything like that past the 2nd grade.

We have a moron who is proven wrong time and time again, who is owned repeatedly, who is incapable of simply bowing out gracefully and saying "you're right, I'm dumb". As a matter of fact, he can't even do the usual "disappear from the thread for a week or two" act. But what he can do, is fill the thread with more of his mental diarrhea, more incoherent grade school nonsense.

And it only gets worse when the idiot starts ranting on about how overrated a decade old game is, by comparing it to the games of today, and yet somehow manages to evade all the posts that explain why this is stupid, repeating the same crap over and over and over again, as if he doesn't understand how someone could disagree, as if the problem is that we simply didn't understand him the first time.

And all of this, at the time, was very frustrating to me. I've never really developed the ability to tolerate people who are just incredibly stupid the way some of the other long-timers here have. Where as some of you might be able to overlook someone being an idiot and ****ing out a mediocre FPS at every chance in favor of being nice because he types the same boring, meaningless apology for being so stupid every time one of you makes an issue about it, I usually can not. So of course, seeing another person being so incredibly stupid got to me.

But after all of that stupidity, you know what the most frustrating thing is? It's seeing this thread bumped, months later, with news of two great reviews...and people still saying that Rare is making crappy games. Their last four games have been very well received, and generally very fun...so they suck? Die WHF :down

Anyways, I didn't get to pick my copy up today, but I did get to play it with my friend, and it's a very well made game. It looks fantastic, better than GoW IMO (unless you put Gears on "vibrant", which looks awesome and should be what everyone is using btw), and it's actually a pretty deep game. I can see myself still playing this game and seeing new content by next month, which is pretty rare for videogames these days. The way they start you off is kind of boring, they probably should have let you use a premade garden instead of making you do everything from scratch, but after about an hour it's pretty good.

I'd like a demo of this.....Im strapped for cash right now, but this looks nice and the more I hear the more interested I am....a demo would be a decider I think.

A demo wouldn't really work. It'd be like trying to do an Oblivion demo. And even if they manage to pull off a miracle like they did with Dead Rising and do a demo, I don't think it'd be a good idea. The game isn't that fun until you get the ground work stuff done, which means the demo would probably end right as the game becomes enjoyable.

I told you, my emotion toward Rare is on hold until I play Banjo Kazooie 3. That is going to be the deciding factor on whether I love them or not, because honestly, my love of Rare started with Banjo, even if the seeds were planted with DKC, so that's where it will return when the time is right.

They are not allowed to mess it up. Banjo is holy ground to me.

So I just got back home from picking up my own copies of Viva Pinata and Gears of War CE from EB games, but I haven't opened them yet, I'll probably play them later tonight/tomorrow. Viva Pinata has a really weird case though
