Andrew Lincoln and Lauren Cohan are really talking up the season finale. I guess something earth-shattering really does happen, even though Lincoln did talk up both the season 5 finale and this past mid-season finale and nothing much happened in either.

The fact that Cohan is even talking about whatever it was that was making her not want to show up to work, which fans are speculating will be a gruesome death scene for her character, has me doubting she will suffer such a fate. I don't think the producers would be happy about Cohan talking about her own death scene before it has aired on television.

Though I could be wrong.

Death is everywhere in the zombie apocalypse. It explains why so many people have come and gone on The Walking Dead (and you can see an incredible reunion and gallery of 11 such deceased characters right here). An actor’s life on this show is a tenuous one indeed, but there are six individuals who have somehow managed to beat the odds and survive. Andrew Lincoln (Rick), Chandler Riggs (Carl), Steven Yeun (Glenn), Melissa McBride (Carol), Norman Reedus (Daryl), and Lennie James (Morgan) were there at the beginning in season 1 and their characters are all still alive and kicking as we now head into the back half of season 6.

We sat down with the original six in a hotel in midtown Manhattan — where fans were lined up outside hoping to catch a glimpse of their favorite stars — and over the course of a reflective afternoon discussed who almost died, who was initially scared of whom, how they felt about the dismissal of the man who gave them their jobs, dealing with Emmy snubs and viewer discontent, and how much longer they plan to keep battling the undead.

You can find this extensive and wide-ranging roundtable discussion in the new issue of Entertainment Weekly (which, again, you can get right here), and we already gave you an intriguing excerpt as Melissa McBride found out from Andrew Lincoln that it was Sarah Wayne Callies who saved her job back in season 3.

Behold! The original 6 survivors of The Walking Dead

Wow, I did not know Carol was going to be killed off in season 3. Fair play to Sarah Wayne Callies for saving her job. I bet they're glad they listened to her. Carol is one of the best characters in the show now.

I remember reading somewhere that the writers spared her character for T-Dog instead.

We scoff that they even considered killing off Carol then, but at the time she hadn't really come into her own as a character yet. I don't think I would have minded too much then, not knowing how great of a character she would turn out to be. She started becoming a fan favorite in season 4. Good thing she survived the prison.

Daryl. :D The man with the boom!

Daryl with a rocket launcher. A bit of an upgrade.

Props to Daryl motherf***in' Dixon, giving the show the adrenaline shot to the balls it so desperately needed for the past few episodes in the first five minutes. The same can be said for his character, because that's easily the coolest thing he's done since the prison got taken over.

Yes, leave Sam. Smart decision. Leave your other dumb ass son as well.

That wolf guy is just too creepy. :( I don't believe anything he says.

Yeaaah, Daryl!

Wow ... It's been a while since I've said that!

Guys thoughts on if we will get a glimpse of Negan at some point before the episode ends?

Carl's eye! They did it! We got eyeless comic Carl now!
