They showed that to us at PaleyFest tonight (the NYCC panel watched it too). The whole audience was like, holy ****.
The PaleyFest panel was amazing. The scheduled lineup was Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Danai Gurira, Melissa McBride, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Robert Kirkman, Scott Gimple, Greg Nicotero, and Gale Anne Hurd, but Chad Coleman and Michael Cudlitz were in the audience, so they joined in as well.
They are so freaking funny. Danai mentioned Judith at one point, and Andrew Lincoln said, “My baby? She’s alive?” And then he went “YES!!” and cheered.
And then Cudlitz mentioned the need for them to get to DC, and he said something like, “...and he’s going to go on his mission, and if the group doesn’t want to go with him, he’ll go without them.” It was quiet for a few seconds after he said that, he got up, dropped the mic, and then left up the aisle high-fiving everyone. He didn’t even come back.
Then they started a Q&A, and someone gave Norman Reedus the mic, and he was running around like Dr. Phil taking questions from the audience. My friend asked him a question and he liked it so much he gave her a hug.
That’s when he found Cudlitz in the back. They pretended they didn’t know each other. He said, “Hi. I’m a first-time caller. Big fan of the show.” Then he said his question was for “Mr. Dimple”, and he asked “When are you finally going to bring Abraham on the show?”
I took this on my phone, so they didn’t come out great, but this is Michael and Norman:
Scott Gimple said, “He’s already on the show, and I believe he’s played by you.” Cudlitz just stood there completely stone-faced. It was like an SNL routine, it was hilarious.
Oh, and Norman sat down right next to us during the Q&A:
Then Lauren Cohan and Danai Gurira got mad at Norman because he was only asking women for questions, so Lauren took the mic from him...then she couldn’t find a guy with a question. When she did, she said, “Oh hi! You’re a man...”
Steven Yeun mentioned how it always seems like they’re always finding new ways to dump on him in every episode (like with the well walker, he was in that well for about 8 hours that day). Later they were talking about Rick’s f-bomb at the end of Season 4, and Scott Gimple said he was thrilled that Andrew “nailed the screwing line”, which he then realized sounded terrible, and tried to walk off the stage. Steven stood up and started to wave him off.
We also learned that Mika was originally going to be a boy, but they liked Kyla Kennedy so much that they changed it to a girl. When she auditioned via Skype, she stopped to introduce them to her cat, and Greg Nicotero said they thought it was so cute it pretty much got her the part.
And with Rick’s f-bomb scene, they said Andrew Lincoln was doing crazy stuff to get him psyched up to say the line. Andrew said he didn’t want it to sound all stupid tough guy, and he did this crazy, “Yo, it’s the end of the season!” that made him sound like Rocky. So Scott Gimple joked that that was the original line. And then Andrew did an even stupider version of it, and then I think he remembered this was being live-streamed, so he got all embarrassed about it. (“Oh, is this live now?”
Here are some more pictures - they didn’t come out great because the lighting turned most of them yellow, but they still look OK:
