Yes, but her natural resilience and her bracers are her defenses. The costume itself is not, so the comparison with fantasy-esque "bikini chainmail" was invalid.
You realize you can't have it both ways right? I'm not sure if it's because you want the traditional look so bad it's is kind of clouding your judgement. What if her enemy is behind her? She is not all knowing or clairvoyant. Having some armor would help with this and probably the only reason I'm not completely against a coat or cloak with some batman padding underneath it. (not the biker jacket though:down:).

So what if someone is behind her? WW is far more resilient than James Bond, Indiana Jones or Lara Croft, but none of them seem to require a flak jacket.

The satire is kinda cute but ultimately stupid considering that there a differences between what is considered sexualized imagery when it comes to a male and a female. Male Superheroes in female cloth don't look sexualized they just look feminized/ drag queen like.

A far more apt comparison would be to put every male super hero in swiming trunks furry brief like Conan here or a loincloth, showing off towering muscles, constantly flexing. That's true male sexual objectification. Therefore, next time when someone does Tarzan we have to put him into an all out black ops suit. God forbid he shows some skin and runs around in a loincloth, might be sexual objectification after all.

And you know what. What the hell is it with all the bullcrap with those body types anyway. I mean look at them, towering muscles all roided up. Women with slim figures and large breasts? That is so insulting to people without such a body and presents such a distorted image. I therefore demand WW to look like this for this movie.

You're missing the point. Those images I posted aren't designed to show what male characters would wear if they were sexualized. They were made to show that there is a problem with how many female costumes are designed. They just put female costumes on males to show how silly they look on males. And you know what? They look just as silly on females. That's the point. The images are simply pointing out how female costumes are designed and how female characters are posed. It also makes fun of some of the excuses people use to justify these costumes.

As as for Tarzan. He isn't sexualized. He's idealized for men. All that oiled up muscle isn't sexualized for women (although some women may enjoy it anyways). It's a male power fantasy. That is the issue with some character depictions. Men are idealized and women are sexualized, both under the male gaze. Both the idealized male and over-sexualized woman are images that are targeted towards men. It's designed so men can picture themselves as this powerful, idealized male who gets all the babes. Tarzan would probably look very different if he was targeted towards and designed by a woman.

And you're right about female characters' bodies (and males too). They usually look the same. They're used to sell false ideals of the perfect female/male body. Maybe there should be a chubby superhero to represent a different body type. I'm not even joking.

I think Wondy would looked kind of silly half naked standing next Bats and Supes in live action.

Exactly.

I guess I'm not bothered by the stylized artwork as much as maybe I should be. Now what bothers me is those pin-up poses women have, especially when fighting.

"I'll pause this fight to the death to show you how sexy I am."

But yeah, it's always kind of silly how females tend to have this kind of leotard outfit, and males tend to be more fully clothed. Especially when some of them don't have powers.

This is a big part of it. Whatever female characters wear, artists tend to draw them in faintly pornographic poses. Catwoman is in theory covered from head to toe, but she seems to wear a jumpsuit that is magnetically drawn to something in her anus, and which has a zipper that weighs about 8lb.

Exactly. Can you imagine if a male character stopped the action to make a sexy pose? People would think it was so dumb. And it's dumb when a female does it too.

Certainly. The amount of skin shown isn't the only factor. Poses, artistic style, and character's bodies are also factors. Characters can be over-sexualized in a variety of outfits. The costume is only one thing out of many that needs to be considered.

Yep. Im not saying a burka but she could as some have campaigned: a different suit that is a bit more covered and still have a more traditional take however not half nude one.

Yeah, I really don't mind her having a sexy outfit, but the "iconic" look would just look silly in live action. No offense to those who want her to wear that costume. I just think it would look silly because it's so impractical. If they are going to give her something "historic" then at least let it be armor and a battle skirt that looks like something from antiquity. Or let it be something akin to what both Supes and Bats are wearing. No, she doesn't need a cowl or a cape, but a cool costume would be a good thing.

Take the basic costume. Replace the star spangled panties with pants that have a star pattern running down the side seam, six pointed stars instead of five to make it more Mediterranean and less American. Emphasize the armored-ness of her chest eagle and give her armored shoulder pads that connect to the breast plate. Make her bracelets more like armored gauntlets. Give her a white cloak, because I always thought she looked good wearing some kind of a cape with a hood.

Done. Costume is now perfect.

Pants with stars down the side would look like something from a wild west Rodeo.

I don't think so, not if they aren't American-style five point stars, but whatever. I'm not committed to the stars.

Yeah but I think they can look a bit better if you make them look more Amazonian if that makes any sense. I made a concept sketch of just that. I don't think her costume should be unsexy in every way I just think she does probably need more overall coverage. I'm not as against pants as some are just the way they look needs to lend itself to to Grecian look and not as you say the rodeo.

A cloak might be cool, im just unsure if it should be white.

Blue might be better. I dunno...I liked your other ideas though! :yay:

Mmmm...not bad. I can see it in my mind.

lol....so you would prefer no stars?

I'm not against a cape, but I think it should be worn pinned on one shoulder in the Macedonian style if she is to have one. I would make it night blue, with either a star map on it or some kind of Zodiac motif.

That sounds too busy to me.

I'd prefer a battle skirt. I think it has every advantage being a variation on one of her classic costumes, durable, drawn from her Hellenic culture, feminine, and not too pervy.

A white cloak? I dunno man...
I think a black cloak similar to this (only with a hood) would be better suited and wouldn't stand out as much

I actually really like the costume to the left just needs better straps and perhaps some accessories that might make her flesh less easily targetable like the arm bands and choker.

It's a cape- there won't be anything else on it.

Well, yeah. I'm saying I think it would be better if it was just a solid color. Some kind of pattern feels like it's a little bit too much for me.
