TNA are #2 by default, no other promotion has such a clueless owner willing to pour money into a promotion without really getting anywhere.

Not arguing that, but it bears no significance to whether Angle is relevant or not in the business, which he clearly is.

It depends on how you define relevant. There's a large portion of wrestling fans who don't realize him and Hardy etc... are still wrestling.

Angle's importance is without question. But Impact for me feels like such an afterthought that calling it the number two wrestling promotion sounds so weird. I'd put ROH over them right now.

True. If he is resigning, it'll be one of the most wrapped up pieces of information.

It's not about who has the better show or not or what you find personally entertaining. ROH isn't even close to TNA in terms of exposure or the same size financially.

In some countries, TNA actually draws better ratings than WWE. Facts are facts and as of now they are the #2 promotion with the next biggest bankroll and drawing power outside of WWE.

I had no idea about that. Which countries?

Right now Cm Punk has EVERYONE talking, all of them saying good things. Whens the last time Kurt got that kind of attention....in a positive manner.

If you are on a major national cable network, with a primetime weekly show in the US and worldwide, that also tours worldwide, and you're a wrestler who is positioned as one of the major stars of that company who headlines their shows and PPVs, you are relevant. Not to mention all the other factors like Angle being one of the best wrestlers in the world today.

And if you think WWE wouldn't take him back in a hearbeat, you're nuts. If you think they fans wouldn't suddenly be estatic, you're nuts as well.

To me that all defines relevancy.

The UK and other countries like India I believe.

Did I say Kurt was more relevant than CM Punk right now?

You know, I thought Punk's line about the company maybe getting better when Vince is dead was too harsh, then I remembered that Michael Cole kept bringing up Jerry Lawler's recently deceased father in his promos a few months back.

Even so, I thought that would have been the cut off point, not the bullying campaign. I give WWE credit for letting it go that far.

Being the top guy in TNA is kind of like being the best surfer in the Antarctic. TNa has barely blipped it's ratings no matter who came in, so being relevant to a ship that mainly treads water is what it is, in the landscape of the casual fan if you're not in WWE you don't matter.

He would get a pop without question, most guys who have made a mark in the WWE and then return do. However whether WWE would be interested, especially given their wellness policy and his erratic behaviour? I dunno.

I'm from the UK and I can assure you WWE is the leader here.

TNA is the highest rated show on the network. Yes they are far behind. I'm sorry but I don't agree with the idea that you don't matter in the business if you're not in the WWE.

Looks like TNA draws better ratings to me...

Angles behavior is strange to say the least, but as long as he doesn't havea drug problem they would take him back. It's not clear whether or not Angle does or doesn't, but he definitely has shown signs of alcohol problems

Official Statement Regarding Bruno Sammartino

From “The Big Cheese” Sal Corrente

We want to address any rumors regarding Bruno Sammartino and his current health situation. If you have read Bruno’s Auto Biography you are aware that he had Rheumatic Fever as a child that caused damage to the valves in his heart. He was very sick for three plus years and came very close to dying as a child.. It clearly didn’t affect him for many years he grew strong and had great stamina in the ring. It was recently discovered that the valves had detriorated and had to be replaced immediately. He has had the surgery and began a rehabilitation process that should last around three months. I have been told that Bruno’s doctor’s expect a full recovery and he should have the heart of a forty year old man when the rehab is complete.

The only thing that concerns me about Punk is say he does sign....he just ripped apart John Laurenitis, Triple H, and Stephanie Mcmahon on live tv. One would think they would still want to bury Punk even if he did re-sign.

That's fair enough, but I think it is the common train of thought within the business and the mainstream fanbase. I mean how often do TNA guys get on any of the big talk shows in the US?

Looks to me like people choose to watch Raw in it's different slots and the total number is higher, TNA seems to only have one slot.

I think Angle at least had a drug problem, but he is erratic and likely to do something that the PGWWE wont want to deal with at some point.

To wrestling fans, they matter. To casual fans, they're relatively unknown. To non-fans, WWE = wrestling. Hell, when mentioning wrestling these days they STILL call it the WWF.

I couple threads back we were talking about the best talkers in wrestling right now. I said Punk was the best talker of the younger guys because he can make you buy everything he's saying, he showed it last night and he's shown it before, especially in some ROH promos I've seen on Youtube. There are guys who think if you can read a script and crack some jokes then you're a great promo guy, but I lot of wrestlers in WWE feel completely fabricated and I don't think they could have a genuine moment if their lives depended on it.

When I listen to a Punk promo it doesn't sound likes he's got someone else's hand up his back.

WWE is definitely seen as the big leagues, no question there. But a lot of that has to do with their longevity and name brand. You could use that same example with WCW and WWF before Bischoff brought Hogan in. Sting would often mention how they were seen as little leagues and didn't have the same relevancy before Hulk came in. How many WCW guys did you see on any of the big talk shows? Was Flair or Lex Luger any less relevant to the business because they weren't in WWF at the time?

It's hard to say with those figures because there's no way of knowing how many of those viewers are watching the show again or for the first time.

I think the real test for Angle will be if he goes through with his Olympic bif. He'll have to get drug tested for the events

I asked when was the last time he had people talking like that about him, when was the last time he got that kind of attention. That's pretty much all I mean by revelance. This is Cm Punks moment and he came across as someone that was trying to get some of those eyes on him.

CM Punk is a 90s Attitude Era wrestler in the modern PG era. If that makes any sense. He appeared five years or so after he was supposed to.

Exactly, it took them actually catching up with the WWE to be seen as relevant. After WCW got big guys like DDP, Hogan and Bret got on some talk shows. If you are talking about before then, well guys like Luger and Flair were relevant within the fanbase and you have to remember the NWA drew huge in it's heyday, and these weren't cast offs, they were synonymous with a promotion that drew before the split from the NWA.

Oh come on, who would watch any of the recent Raws more than once? :funny: ;)

Is he really going to compete in the Olympics?

Maybe he was doing that, who knows. Angle is a strange cat. It's definitely clear he has heat with Punk over the comments he made towards him on twitter a few months back

What did Punk say to get Angle to challenge him AFTER Punk did something on this level?
