The Wrestling Thread is not your decision you stupid Americans - - - Part 197

Friend of mine is a waitress at Texas Roadhouse and she got the chance to wait on The Miz and Dolph Ziggler on Sunday.

I always look back on an episode of RAW when the Shield actually challenged Punk to a match and he said he'd take on the best member of the group; Ambrose was the most heel of the group at the time so no one cheered for him, with Rollins it was so-so with the crowd, but the place went wild when Reigns was mentioned.

Funny how that seems to have changed now.

She reminds me so much of one of my friends, right down to the facial expression.

Ahhh, I completely misunderstood you. Ha.

I thought you meant OTT as the method that many networks are now going towards to deliver content, since people aren't paying for cable as much as they used to. Cutting out the middlemen... basically, exactly what WWE is doing with the Network.

And that's true of lots of wrestling now - you've got companies like ROH & EVOLVE putting their products on iPPV or like ROH putting their weekly TV show on their site. Same with the New Japan World service.

Completely missed the mark on that one... isn't the internet fun sometimes?

Heh! :D  I certainly have no issues with the many methods of getting the product to fans, my only issue is if they try to force fans to view it a certain way as opposed to offering options.

They pushed him like his injury never happened.

The sad part is had they given Reigns another year to develop an organic connection instead of hotshotting him to the main event scene with a silver spoon in his mouth, he would've been WWE universally accepted.

This must be some kind of Rorschach test.

I look at these photos and see two talented, beautiful women, while others look at these photos and apparently see CM Punk.

It's like white and gold dress vs black and blue dress all over again.

I'm in 100% agreement with this.

I don't like The Miz in general but I feel like he's done a brilliant job with his current gimmick over the past several months. It's easily the best work of his career and he's helping get Sandow even more over as a face just by being such a good heel. I still don't understand why he dresses like Neo though.

I haven't seen the show yet, but I am pretty gobsmacked by the New Japan Cup results. The fact that TANAHASHI and OKADA were eliminated in the first round shock me. And Tanahashi was eliminated by TORU ****ING YANO.

At this point, they already have Kota Ibushi's name engraved on the trophy. Interesting that Golden Stardust upset the Tag Team Champs.

And it looks like we're getting Shibata vs. Goto (AGAIN) in the 2nd round.

Doesn't really surprise me actually. Yano was in the semi finals last year...

People tend to forget that New Japan Cup hasn't traditionally been that big of a deal. Last year they used it to elevate Bad Luck Fale, for crying out loud.

I actually watched the segment last night just to see AJ. great crowd response and she looked fine as hell and sharp in her brief offense, plus the promo with Paige and Renee afterwards was food for the soul and eyes.

I heard the Punk chants, same as I read that they chanted his name during Reigns promo, I'm afraid for AJ it comes with the territory of being married to the most controversial and ballsiest guy ever to work for WWE, he represents the majority of us that are resentful of WWE and any trigger to chant his name will be taken as fans know it will anger Vince and nosy.

I see the women as well. I'm not sure what the deal is.

The way to stick it to Vince and company is not to attend his shows and chant CM Punk. The way to stick it to him is not watch and not give him your money when you buy that ticket. When people chant CM Punk's name during divas segments, it only backs up Vince's opinion that no one actually cares about the women in the ring.

I see the women as well. I'm not sure what the deal is.

Oh come on, you know what the deal is, she is the wife of CM Punk, fans miss Punk and he is pretty much the embodiment of everything that stands against the corruption of WWE, thus she will trigger responses for him by proxy.

This is one of the lowest periods ever for WWE, it has been at war with it's own fanbase for nearly 2 years now as a deluded old egomaniac attempts to cling on to 1985, and the last 2 months has taken things to an uglier head than last year. Punk is pretty much the only guy to say **** the machine and your Mania pay-off, I value my integrity and self worth higher, so he is the fans avatar.

Only if Vince's is too stupid to not realize that fans know AJ is his wife. Fans are gonna chant Punk's name at any opportunity as he is the guy that actually stood up for the right thing, he didn't just talk about it like Dolph and Cena.

Not attending Vince's shows is neither here nor there, it's been said before nothing will alter his mindset, he'd rather lose money than admit he's wrong. So instead you can just go and see the few wrestlers worth seeing and crap on his beloved stuff just to mess with his plans, far more effective to make his TV product look stupid than deprive him of a $30 ticket fee.

Enzo and Big Cass are as entertaining as ever "Sweet boy frosted flake, Wesley Blake" :funny:

The return of Alexa Bliss :ilv:

Solomon Crowe match against Bull Dempsey wasn't that good.

The return of Alex Riley as an in ring competitor. I don't know why he remained only on commentary because as far as I know he hadn't retired. Enjoying his feud with Owens.

When is Shoot Nation gonna début?

Fulton and Dawkins showed up this week and they split Jordan & Dillinger last week so I guess the faction is coming soon.

NXT divas match was great as per usual. Charlotte's spear got a "better than Reigns" chant :applaud

I still need to watch this week's NXT. Sounds like a fun show, especially with Alexa Bliss returning.

There needs to be an NXT flow chart of all the things people are "better than [insert forced-upon WWE superstar here]". Quite a few people have been better than Batista, Reigns, I think Miz, and probably others.

Leva Bates (Blue Pants) gave an interview to WWE.Com

She commented on what Triple H said to her after her first few matches:
"The first time I came back he said, "You got a Blue Pants chant. I don't even. I can't," and then he started laughing. I shook his hand and said, "Well, thank you for everything, I really appreciate this opportunity." He said, "You're welcome," and then he just started laughing at my blue pants! That was kind of a really awesome moment for me, to make Triple H laugh."

Sign her up Hunter!

Solomon Crowe needs a better finisher than that rebound splash thing. It looked really weak.

- There is some speculation that WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar may owe the company another appearance because he walked out of the February 23rd RAW and didn't appear as advertised. As we've noted, Lesnar walked out after a business disagreement with Vince McMahon.

With Lesnar's current deal expiring after the post-WrestleMania 31 RAW, he's currently scheduled for the March 9th RAW in Pittsburgh and the March 23rd RAW in Los Angeles, as well as the post-WrestleMania RAW. The only date Lesnar could do a make-up on is the March 16th RAW in Des Moines. As of this writing, Lesnar has not been added to that show.

With all the uncertainty around Lesnar's future right now, it's still believed by many within WWE that they have a very good chance of re-signing him once the deal expires.

We noted yesterday that there's some speculation that the "smart fan" WrestleMania crowd may end up cheering Roman Reigns big time if they are aware that Lesnar is on his way back to UFC. It's worth noting that the original idea behind Reigns vs. Lesnar was for the "unbeatable monster heel" Lesnar to lose to the new "babyface savior." WWE officials were counting on Reigns to be riding a major wave of momentum by now but that's obviously not the case. Although as noted, Reigns' reactions since the Royal Rumble have been improving.

- By making Rey Mysterio the face of AAA and Lucha Underground, officials there are hoping that Mysterio's popularity with the Mexican-American community, as well as in Mexico, is strong enough that his name can help both brands get a better TV presence.

Rey is expected to be pushed as Lucha Underground's top star beginning with their next set of tapings on March 21st.

There's been a feeling within WWE that the longer Rey was kept off WWE TV, the less it would mean when he debuted with a new promotion.

- There has been a substantial increase in WWE NXT ticket sales since Finn Balor and NXT Champion Kevin Owens started working the live events, according to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter. NXT recently broke their own attendance records at venues in Jacksonville and Tampa.

- Big Show and Kane are now confirmed for the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 31.

- It's worth noting that this week's WWE SmackDown broadcast in Canada ended 4 minutes early. This could be an indication that an extra segment will be added in for tonight's airing on Syfy.

Perhaps it is a subtle way of indicating that the Miz character is basically a man in 2015 stuck in the 1990s (he thinks he's like Neo, Blade, the Crow and a John Woo gangster all in one). The fact that he's proud to be an actor in direct-to-DVD films is very much a relic of the 1990s, when men like Kevin Sorbo ruled the human race. A more modern interpretation of a character like Miz would be someone who's obsessed with how many youtube or twitter followers he has (like Ziggler or Ryder), but Miz is decidedly focussed on what in many ways is an outdated medium and outdated business model.

You're correct. I did in fact know what the deal is. Doesn't make it any less stupid. Sorry, but it hurts AJ not Vince. No matter what the intention.

Who do you think it bothers more? His wife who is probably seeing out her contract? or the ego driven old loon that Punk told to shove his company up his ass and the fans still chant for him more than 99% of the roster?
